What the heck did I just see!? I can hardly believe this stunt! Doing a loop in a helicopter, okay it's been done before, the first time more than 60 years ago! But I would never call what this lynx does in this video a loop! You enter a loop with speed, this is from pretty much a standstill!! I'd call this a backflip and that a helicopter can do this is simply amazing!

@anthonyfilter The Lynx has a semi rigid main rotor head and so can do powered rolls and loops, True it can't fly upside down because it's rotors don't provide lift upside down but they do provide forward momentum when inverted. In this clip it's doing a stall loop but if you watch "westland lynx loop the loop" you will see a powered loop

This is good. The british have outdone themselves. Of course the Russian Mi-24 can do only 350 kph, but it weighs 12 tonnes and can carry 8 soldiers and quite a bit of armament. The lynx can do 400 but it weighs only 5 tonnes.

Yes the lynx is used in the British army, the black hawk is not. The lynx is used many for transporting troops and supplies. However in the navy it is used to destroy surfaced subs.

It IS an annual event. It's held in stages; all over the world, in different places. London just happens to be one place. Last year it was going to be held at Longleat Safari Park but it was cancelled due to bad weather.
