Just recently got interested in Max Baer, he seemed like such a cool, funny and classy guy and this video proves it. Too bad he was portrayed terribly in Cinderella Man. He was definitely one of boxings greatest personalities and without a doubt the hardest hitter of them all, but of course that wont always win a bout. My new favorite boxer even though hes from 75 years ago!
I think Max Baer was 6'3. He's certainly two or three inches taller than Jack Dempsey when they stand together and Dempsey was over 6' (some say 6'1). He was taller than Schmeling when they fought too (Schmeling is listed as 6'1 or 6'2). Same with Joe Louis, Baer was about an inch or so the taller man. Baer and Braddock look about the same height, and both are listed as 6'2 1/2 or 6'3 at the most realistic heights. Baer may have even been slightly over 6'3.
Either they cast some of the smallest women they could find or baer was huge (hmmm 6'2 i think it was somewhere in the middle.
But look at this imagine any of the current crop of boxers attempting somthing like this maywether doesnt have the likeability to do anything similar and he cant keep his trap shut.
I think the average size of men in the 30s was about 5' 6" so Baer would be considered a bit of a rarity at his 6' 1-1 1/2"
I hear Floyd Jr. at 5' 8" did pretty good on that dancing show a year or two ago, and if you think about, one thing boxers have is good balance and quick reflexes, so its possible many of the current crop would do a mean soft shoe !
Yeah but you need to take into account that jr. i an asshole who seems to think the fact he has money makes him a greater person then the average.
Baer despite how he was portrayed had very few people who could fault him (even opponenets) where floyd in the reality tv series iron ring was shown throwing money around complaining about the size of his limo showing his god aweful "bling" and after a confrintation with shonie carter said he could buy his life with his credit card.
Yes but personally i though it went a bit to far with his skull and crossbones diamond studded necklace with ruby eyes...and to think theres people even in countrys as productive as our own who dont have enough to eat.
Also so you know Iron Ring was BET's attempt at a show to cash in on MMA by using celebrity team owners (rappers and floyd mostly) and trianers (mostly traditional martial artists!) to trian these people....all floyd did the episode i wathced was run his mouth and eat very sad...
Are they children or young women?

Max Baer was 6'4". His brother Buddy Baer was 6'6". Dempsey was 6'1 1/2".
Braddock 6'3.9999", basically the same height as Baer.
Louis was 6'2 1/2" to 6'3".

With all that money youd think hed be able to hire some reliable brains to help him organise these sorts of things no?

Was Baer 6'1 1/2 or 6'2 1/2? I hear different measurements everywhere.

Big dance routines with dozens of ladies, all kinds of special effects and birds eye camera view scenes were quite popular in the early 30s.
