Some males can have a head voice! But for the most part they have falsetto. The difference between head and falsetto is tone. Head has a more fuller and pleasing tone.

All men have a head voice, which is called head voice because it resonates mostly in the head (go figure!). It's a lighter sound (less weighty) than the chest voice, but the sound is still that of the natural voice. Falsetto is like a step beyond head voice. See, falsetto means false voice--literally off the natural sound of your voice. The tones produced are different, but all can be pleasant. Luther Vandross & Smokey Robinson tend to sing in head voice.

This is up for debate. Physiologically, it makes sense that women can produce falsetto, but there is only a slight difference in sound between falsetto and head voice. Try listening to the high notes in Mariah Carey's song Emotions. That sounds like falsetto to me, as opposed to Whitney's "YOOOOOUUU" in IWALY lol.

Rebbie this Whitney head register, which is very high and she is a higher soprano. Whitney does go into falsetoo in IWDWS this concert when she does A6/B6 but she rarely does falsetto. All head, and superhead mostly for Whitney cause she is a soprano where as Mariah alto so relies on falsetto more.
