We all have to wait for Zero's "Strange World" to come out along with Keegan, and it's anyone's guess when that's going to be, hoping for this year! Maybe we should all send emails to Zero, lol.
coem to my channel laeavea good rating on a sunday at munday pond for a free skatboard deck all you need to do is leave your postal code as a comment!
Thanks heaps for the compliment; I've always encouraged him when other mother's thought I was nuts. But to do something you love and get paid for it, plus see the world, is totally awesome!
Hi Crazy Chinese guy, How's it going? Have you met my son, Keegan? He's been practising since he was 11, hardcore all the way. He's now in Moscow with RCVA clothing, seeing places I can only dream about. If skating is your passion, go for it! That's what I tell every skateboarder I meet in person or online.
You're his mom?! cool. Anyway, yeah, I'm going for it. The only problem is that I'm also busy with studies and I was a bit old when I started to skate (about 15 years old)
I don't think you're too old, and if you're good at skateboarding, it's important to keep it up. Keegan was 11 when he began and left school at 15 to pursue a skateboarding career, and washed dishes for about 10 years, whilst skating & traveling. He got free stuff and free travel from 15 years of age. He was 25 before he started getting paid to skateboard. Maybe you could do it part time for now, finish your studies, and go for it full time later.
Hahaha. It's more of a local video (North 2), so don't expect to find it in the shop, but they may be able to order it for you. Have fun at the beach.
Hi Nathan, The Aussies don't have any Canadian or American stuff, bummer! I'll have fun at the beach bundled up; it's winter right now, especially along the southern coast which is not too far from Antartca, brrr! Keegan will be in California within a week for a while; it's like his second home, and warm, too! Oh well, we'll be sweltering in December whilst youse (Aussie speak) freezing. Cheers, Barb
How's it going? No, I haven't seen "North 2", but I'll check the Nirvana skate shop, and the other smaller one; the owner of Nirvana "John" met Keegan at "Slam City Jam" in 2001. Or maybe I'll check in Melbourne, when my husband takes me on another working holiday; the beaches are awesome DownUnder! Yes, I'll bet Jamie Thomas is kicking himself, mentally if not physically,ha! Cheers, Barb
I am pretty sure that he's made his way to Ripping Giraffe a few times (it's the first nelson skate shop). I used to ride for them, and the manager (Jamie Rizzuto) would tell me how he's been talking with Keegan and he's getting a part in the next Zero video and stuff along those lines.
Hi Nathan, I vaguely remember that shop. Now that Keegan is skating for Zero, are there any new skate DVD's out with him in it? Well, keep up the hardcore skateboarding, and you're sure to end up like Keegan. Good luck. Cheers, Barb
From what I remember, he was supposed to have a part in the special edition of New Blood, but I am pretty sure he did not, however Zero is making a new video, and Jamie Thomas (Zero Owner and team rider) is probably to gnarly to NOT have Keegan's skating in it, so it would be safe to assume that Keegan will have a part. Hvae you seen northside productions' "North 2"? Keegan shares a part in that.
Another Nelsonite! Did you know Keegan Sauder when he skated at the Indoor Skate Park run by Billy Steven's Mum, in the mid eighties? Are you a skateboarder. Keegan's brother, Derek (now using Will) began skating 3 years before Keegan, but has gone on to become a mortician!
Keegan placed second, and he started at age 11, at the Nelson Indoor Skate Park. He dyed his hair blonde once and was know as "FireChild" for awhile. He always brought home friends like Lee, Ben, Billy, Todd, and umpteen others with his brother Derek (now using his second name, Will). I'm curious? Who are you?
Hmmm, definately a bit younger than that. I moved to Nelson in 92. I used to skate the indoor everyday for a few years until i recently moved. My dad used to Own Cool Sport, which was right across the road from Gericks. I think its a leather shop now haha.
Oh wow, I didnt even look atyour profile page, I didn't know you were Keegan's mom. You must be very proud, he is definately one of the best skaters to come from Canada, let alone my neck of the worlds. Its one of my bragging methods: "Ya, Im from Nelson. Thats where Keegan Sauder and Josh Evin are from."
I'm right proud, and what a great thing to say about his skateboarding, thanks! I remember Josh. Did you skateboard or hang out with Keegan whilst we were in Nelson. We all moved to Victoria, on Van Island, and that's where Keeg's career really began to start. I'm curious, who are you? I'll send that compliment to Keegan or you can: blairstanley@yahoo.com. G'Day mate as they say DownUnder.
Hahaha, I never had the good fortune of meeting him, just the stories (Keegan did that, and then thought on that ramp :O"). My name is Nathan Bartlett, I was more part of the "Next Generation" that skated that park. When we first moved to Nelson, My family owned cool sport, (Bike shop right across the road from Gerricks.)
Hi Nathan, I remember "Cool Sport", my son's there; both had bikes, till the skatboards became glued to the feet. So, the indoor skate park is still going? Wendy Stevens really got it going in the 80's with help of all the skateboarders. Are you a hard core skateboarder? If so, keep it up. Keeg's the only one to go the distance and see most of the world! Keeg always skated with a vengence; it's 13 years to get there; he makes it look so easy, not! Take care, cheers, Barb
I most certainly am a hardcore skateboarder. And you will be pleased to hear that the park is thriving, it's the go to place for every skater in town (though most night it gets dangerously filled with bmx riders.) I am actually going back for a visit there in a couple weeks. Was Ripping Giraffe around when you were there?
That name does sound familiar, but not send Keegan an email; he'd know for sure, and I told him he might be getting an email from you. He's been to Nelson at least once a year, so he might even have met you.
this is his song from the antisocial video ;)

Well, there kind of is. You would be landing primo though (which means the board will be sideways, balancing on the edge of the trucks)
