  • AWWW man good times, after every episode i would run out with a metal pole pretending i new the Hiten Mitsurugi style and jumping of old blocks and just.....just having a damn good time....now that im older....i have a real sword now to practice on....MWAHAHA

  • @fuchainsa

Holy shit, you too eh?! xD

  • 0:55 Oh just a ninja... WHAT A NINJA

  • For those who like to rp.

    thelegendrp.forumotion com

  • This song kind of hides the 'deadly swordsman' aspect of the show..

  • I love your name. Pokemon ftw!

  • @jb08045

    Thank you!

  • why'd you have to die with cancer Kenshin!?!?!?!? TT__TT

  • @DjTsakalos yes he died because of cancer....

  • @runeguy221akaredguy2 He died of tuberculosis

  • @MrRanaVenenosa oh? well, i got the wrong information then hahaha

  • @runeguy221akaredguy2

Well that ending is non-canon anyway. In the manga it ends completely different

  • i remember when they had this on cartoon network, and i loved this anime so much i watched it every week

funny thing is, i never got to see the ending of the anime

    i gotta watch this again

  • Brings back memories ):

  • i miss this series...Rurouni Kenshin is the best!

  • Una de las canciones que hizo que me volviera seguidor de Judy And Mary... y la misma hizo que me volviera fanatico de la serie...!!!

  • to be honest jumping 8 feet in the air is possible but its a huge stren on ur body but no human can jump a 100 feet but then again i did see a monk do a hand stand with only his two index fingers so who knows

  • Sobakasu "Freckles" one of the best Anime OST

  • oh my god Rurouni Kenshin>>> Naruto anyday XD

  • the best animated samurai ever

  • Remeber Remember....! :')

  • The english version has better instruments.

  • up to now I still don't understand why Kenshin needs to turn around twice at 0:59 to 1:00

  • @Leonknight01 He did a "double take" because his opponent started to move.

  • Why does everyone have to bash Naruto? It's a good anime in it's own right.

  • @yuyunarutoballz27 Don't listen to them. You just keep liking what you like. I love Naruto, and Bleach while we're on the subject, and I'll keep being a fan until the end.

  • BTW. Rurouni Kenshin will probably have a remake in the near future ^^

  • Is it me or does sumthin seem off from listening the one in the anime O-o

  • @Roxas6674 it's probably just the quality of the video.

  • i swear to mother fucking god if a flame war starts here on a RUROUNI KENSHIN video about NARUTO!! ugh god.

  • @jstealth89 yesss..you're right..Naruto sucks,stupid,gay,and fat...Yahooo!!!

  • 0:55-1:10 Now those are real ninja, not those fishnet wearing pansy's from Naruto.

  • @jstealth89

That is correct. Any decent ninja who's worth his salt must be able to jump at LEAST eight feet in the air without dropping his hat!

  • @LtSurge659 really? the minimum is 8 ft.? then i was jipped!! i was told i had to jump at least 10 feet without dropping my hat damn sensei

  • @LtSurge659 Well considering naruto ninjas jump 100s of feet, get crushed by powerful punches and yet stand up like its nothing, compared to them, being able to jump 8' in air w/o dropping hat is a simple task if you ask me. XD However from camera angle it may look like they are jumping high, but not really. The guy was on a log to begin w/.That gives him some height. :D

  • @LtSurge659 i dont think they are ninjas they are samurai becouse at that timeframe the samurai where declining but they still existed they mostly dueled each other and they fought with the imperial japan forces but not to the extent of actual war (the samurai v imperial war ended some years before). and since Rurouni Kenshin was known as the man slayer the samurai in this wanted to duel with him.

  • @jstealth89 lol I agree, doesn't change the fact that I love Naruto, only problem is the crazy fans that have made it a sin to love naruto

  • @yorkemaster1 Yeah i like Naruto when its funny, like with Killer Bee. Sasuke is kinda what kills the show for me. My comment was just to troll the "FUCK YOU NARUTO IS THE SHIT" fans.

  • @jstealth89 Oh Sasuke, I can't wait for him to die

  • @jstealth89

    Fishnets?

    you mean jumpsuits.

  • @jstealth89 wtf??? Naruto IS the SHIT!!!!

  • @EtherealDarkling I think you accidentally an "is" in there. Don't worry, easy mistake.

  • @PalidonofGuns I think you accidently left a "put" in there. Ahem...

  • @EtherealDarkling Dont you mean Naruto IS shit? Because it is.

  • @jstealth89 That's just DBZ stuff realism matter less in naruto

  • @jstealth89 Did it occur to you that none of them are ninja? In Narruto. The small hidden villages of ninja protect their respective dominant samurai nations. and risk everything for them.

  • @jstealth89 Aren't they just Ronin? They all have ronin-gasa on too which pretty much symbolizes a master-less samurai, ya know to hide to their faces out of shame?

  • @TimusOminere Im pretty sure only ninja used the Kusarigama, they also wore those hats. Ninjas were basically peasants that were pissed off at their Feudal Lords and fought back with the tools they had at hand so they made weird weapons like that. A Ronin would have kept his Spear/Bow/Katana to fight. Not to mention that they wouldn't use tactics like that to assassinate an opponent. Then again they could be since animes don't tend to be historically accurate -_-.

  • @jstealth89 I dunno dude, there's Isshin-ryu kusarigamajutsu and Shinto-ryu teaches shurikenjutsu. Although it probably wasn't that common I would of thought it be down to the individual and what suited them. If you have a ganders on Wiki or just google-hop you can find a few articles, whether they're accurate or not though is the problem. Let me know what you find, I'm curious now >:3

  • @jstealth89 you do realize that those ninjas you are talking about died in less than five seconds...

  • @jdsjkaglfkj you do realise they're just normal ninja's who're facing Legendary war-machine

  • @jstealth89 Ninjas from Naruto or Rurouni Kenshin has animated ninjas, not real. Get your head out of your ass Lily.

  • @Use2befriends how i met your mother reference? if so "Legendary"

  • Comment removed

  • @jstealth89 err those aren't ninjas -_-'

  • @jstealth89 Naruto #1! Death Note #2 Rurouni Kenshin ahhh... its in their some where

  • @RoyceAltman Naruto in The First Place, Naruto is A Plagiarism Hunter X

  • @jstealth89 yes and you do realize that naruto is more fastasy like, compared to rurouni kenshin, where they are trying to make it look historically realistic.

  • 2nd Opening > 1st Opening

  • @yukigirlydoll Don't mind them - They cant really mean anything ules they have been in Japan. I go to Japan ever 2 years, because it's my place of inspiration.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, it seems like just yesterday I was watching this every friday & saturday.. man, I miss it

  • this brings back memories... i still am a kinder student back then when this was aired. :">

  • Greatest. Song. Ever.

  • i missed this show <3

  • the show was great this intro was crap for the scenes though...

  • could never get over the fact that they made him look so gay...

  • I love RK but this theme song is just too cutesy and poppy to introduce the epicness of the show. I think the ending theme is better but the toonami opening was the best, in my opinion.

  • Most anime back in the early years and now sound so much better in Japanese than they do in English in my opinion.

  • Best...anime...I've ever seen *-*

Was my favorite from the first time I saw it... still is!!! x3

  • @yukigirlydoll

    I'm sorry to hear that.

  • @yukigirlydoll I hate when people make stupid comments on one of the best animes ever :D. It doesn't change the meaning of the song... If anything, it gives the song meaning lol.

  • @bbr00ney It takes away the meaning of the lyrics and the way it was mean to affect the listeners. Do you have any idea what this song is about? No because you think of this anime when you hear it. When the artist wrote it she intended for it to be appreciated for its message. The guitarist said in an interview he hated that people recognize it only for a theme song. I hate when people associate genius songs with anime. It ruins them because that's all they get remembered for. I'm a real JaM fan

  • @yukigirlydoll She should be happy...Without this anime this song wouldn't have been nearly as possible..With or without this anime it is still a beautiful song..The anime takes nothing away from the song... it only makes it better.

  • @bbr00ney Popular**

  • @bbr00ney Are you serious? Do you know famous Judy and Mary became even before Sobakasu? They're one of the most influential rock bands in Japanese history. This song has NOTHING to do with the show. It's a powerful, bittersweet song with passionate lyrics. Trust me, I'm an obsessive fan of Yuki. She wanted people to connect with the pain in the song and feel the emotion of the lyrics. You don't understand how all of that disappeared simply because people only associate it with this anime now.

  • @yukigirlydoll Obviously you are an obsessive fan, that much is clear.. Why can't people just enjoy anime and the music associated with it? Stop bitching about how it ruined a song, it's one song, and I think it goes pretty damn well with this anime, so take your fanaticism elsewhere...-.-

  • @bbr00ney Music is my life. I'm a fan of real music and JaM is one of my favorite bands. I learn their lyrics and connect with each song because that's what they're meant for, not to be put as the soundtrack to some cartoon. Their songs mean a lot to me, just because you can't understand that. How would you feel? I can't stand when people misrepresent meaningful songs. That's stupid, what this song is about has nothing to do with this anime. And no, I will never enjoy anime because it's pathetic

  • @yukigirlydoll

I'm sorry but this video is not going anywhere soon. No one is keeping you here. If you don't like it, there are plenty of other places to go... for instance, the link in the video description.

  • @yukigirlydoll If you were a real fan of music, you would realize that people perceive and experience music (and effectively everything) differently, that's why we have OPINIONS. We're not stupid, you've made your abhorrent obsession very clear. Yes, yes it is a shame that people did not come by this song or band by knowing the band prior, but get over it. It is simpleminded to judge the opinions of those who only knew JaM from one song and yet be someone who acts as if we can't appreciate them.

  • @Amatugold I agree, one of the most beautiful things about music is how everyone connects with it in their own way and one song affects each person differently. I'm not saying you have to feel the same way I do when I hear it. I'm saying it hurts that such a great song with a lot of meaning that is sentimental to the singer has to be forever associated with a cartoon that has nothing to do with it. The band members and the fans would be very disappointed. I'd defend any song I love, not just JaM

  • @yukigirlydoll I agree to an extent but that happens to all types of music. Yes, perhaps the lyrics do not directly connote relation to the anime but the bittersweet passion you speak of does resonate with people who did perhaps come across this song via the anime. While I can relate with your passion for this band, it would have been better if you tried to suggest other songs from Judy and Mary if you love them that much as opposed to railing on anime you cannot appreciate towards fans that do.

  • @Amatugold It bothers me because the singer Yuki and guitarist, Takuya have said how unhappy they are with what fans of this have turned the song into. Its very disrespectful to the musicians who gave them this song to act like the anime is what makes it amazing. But you're right. If anyone is interested in the band, the real beauty behind this, I suggest starting with Lover soul, Motto, Peace, Music fighter, Irotoridori no sekai, Hitotsu dake, Kyoto, Bathroom, The great escape, Sugar cane train

  • Comment removed

  • @yukigirlydoll They're meant to be put as the soundtrack to "some cartoon" when the band SELLS THE RIGHTS TO AN ANIME COMPANY, you moron.

  • @yukigirlydoll You do understand that the band gave their consent to the producers of RK so they could use the song right? If they hate the fact that people associate Sobakasu to RK then too bad, they should have thought about it before making the deal...

Peronally, I love the song, and I heard it as this opening for the first time... think of all the people who discovered Judy and Mary because of this!!

  • @yukigirlydoll the english voice sounds so similar its uncanny and a little eerie. as for the meaning, i never read a translation of this song.

  • @WyrdSpooky

Yeah, in fact there are a lot of Japanese songs that I have had a hard time finding translations for.

  • @WyrdSpooky I'm not sure what English voice you're talking about. I have written a translation for this song and a lot of JaM songs, if you want I can post it here or send you the English lyrics

  • @WyrdSpooky Because no instead of people knowing the real meaning and story behind this song, they associate it with Samurai X. They act like the anime is the thing that makes the song beautiful.

  • @yukigirlydoll

You can stay here and complain about this for the rest of your life if that's what you really want to do.

  • @LtSurge659 Excuse me for defending a song that means a lot to me. Music if my life. You can sit here and watch anime for the rest of your life if you want, but it's a shame that you can't appreciate good Japanese music without hearing it on cartoons.

  • @yukigirlydoll

    (Sigh)

Do you know the Yellow Monkey? Yeah? Japanese music in Japanese Animated Cartoons is a logical thing to do. Hence, both the anime and music get their own publicity.

Some people look up the music featured on these shows. Yellow Monkey's "Tactics" was a closing theme for Rurouni Kenshin. I now have two of their albums. I listen to quite a few Japanese artists.

So you can continuously assume nobody else but yourself appreciates good music.

  • @LtSurge659 No, I'm saying it's a shame that people only get into Japanese music through anime. I'm sick of the 2 always being connected. Music is art and a life source, anime is just for entertainment. I hate when people find out I like Japanese artists and they randomly assume I like anime, when I hate it. I listen to music for the emotion, not the way it goes with a tv show. Music is what inspired me to learn an entire new language. Sadly people think I learned Japanese because of some anime

  • @yukigirlydoll Music is art and a "life source," while anime is "just entertainment?"

As a pianist and artist (drawing), I need to ask: are you fucking retarded?

Anime is just as much an art as music is. Actually, I'm moved more often by anime more than music by itself. And why wouldn't I be? Anime is an art-form that incorporates music *and* animation.

  • @jimthegreat1012

imho they're trolls so I'm gonna stop paying attention to them.

  • @yukigirlydoll Jesus, get over it. "Anime is for entertainment." Have you even watched a couple of animes are so? There are many shows out there that have great story lines and Nobuhiro Watsuki (the creator of this show since you're too focused on your music), is a wonderful mangaka who also mentored many famous manga artist who also created wonderful stories. Don't come here and push down your opinions in our throats because we're sick and tired of hearing your bullshit.

  • @karen2iLykdat Stop treating anime like it's this godly thing. Yes I've watched anime. I understand why people get emotional, it's the same reason they do with movies. But I've had experiences with people being way too obsessed with it and there's no reason they make it their lives and suck all these great Japanese music into it just because the songs were used to help carry out that emotion. Nothing is on the same level as music. If you can't feel music like you feel a cartoon, that's too bad

  • @yukigirlydoll ouran high school host club changed my life :'D

  • @bennettcullen Good for you. Judy and Mary changed my life.

  • @yukigirlydoll LOL you just described yourself but with music. Why don't you reread what you just told me and change 'anime' to music and 'music' to anime and you get a general idea of what these people here are trying to tell you. All of us consider Rourin Kenshin as part of our childhood and you decide to bombard us with insults which makes you seem like petty person. Too bad.

  • @karen2iLykdat I'm not saying I don't understand how you can feel that way, I'm just saying you can't compare it to music. I get that watching anime can make you emotional like listening to music can but it's not the same. It's natural to get attached to the emotion and drama you see in it. But music is everything in life. It's what we move to. It's what heals us and fills us with energy.

  • You're generalizing. I have an art teacher who dislikes any and all music, classical or hiphop or rock or jazz or WHATEVER, and she's fine. Music isn't the ultimate pleasure of humankind or anything.

Maybe that's what YOU feel about music, much like that's what karen2iLykdat feels about anime.

  • @mynameisalmahdi I feel really bad for her, I honestly don't understand how anybody can live without music. Humans are naturally affected by music, ever since we've existed we've created music. It's literally everything in life. Anime is NOT the same. It's meant to bring out emotions and speak to us, yes. But anything can do that. Music actually makes us who we are and how we view the world. This is coming from a person who relies on music so if you don't realize this now you will someday.

  • @yukigirlydoll Try explaining that "music is everything" to a deaf person. ART is a medium, anime and/or animation (LIKE music) is a facet of that art. Animation happens dates back to the stone age (cave paintings depicting motion). Music is NOT "literally" everything in life. How can the opinion of one "who relies on music" represent how WE view the world? Music certainly made you, but you cannot say the same about everyone else.

  • @Amatugold A-fucking-men!

  • @yukigirlydoll You must understand that as one who cannot appreciate anime as you do music, you CANNOT consider your opinions on either of those, to be the absolute fact. You could have made your comment from the very beginning, "I hate anime, I cannot and will not accept it, BUT I live for music, and I love this song, and I LOVE this artist." Which would leave out the pointless argument on JaM, on Yuki, and on opinions on music and anime, which quite frankly is beyond the scope of this video.

  • @yukigirlydoll

can you tell me the story about sobakasu ?.. what did inspired yuki about that song ?whats its all about

  • @mikedfelix When Yuki was 18 she was just learning to make music and trying to turn her poetry into songs. She met a man who was in a band, and he fell in love with her. He taught her to play guitar and took her to recording studios. But he started being controlling. He pierced her left ear, which is mentioned in the song. They had a generally bad relationship and this song is about him. They eventually broke up after Yuki left to audition for a movie, where she met Onda (the bass player of JaM)

  • @yukigirlydoll

See, you could have said this from the beginning and everyone would have thumbed you up.

  • @karen2iLykdat yeah lol whats what guys problem

  • @karen2iLykdat definitely meant whats that guy's problem. Guess he could be a girl, which would make more sense in this case

  • @eminence18 Haha, she's a girl who has a problem with Rurouni Kenshin XD

  • @yukigirlydoll Get over it.

  • @yukigirlydoll the same could be said for most movies too, animated or not

  • @yukigirlydoll what is this song about

  • @H4rdstyl30wns It's about a lover Yuki had when she was 20. He was very controlling to her and something specific that's mentioned in the song is when he pierced her left ear. You can get the idea from knowing the lyrics but I only know the story behind it because I've read all of her biographies and diaries she's published. Yuki is truly a work of art and the most phenomenal person I've ever known of. I would really recommend everyone to get into her music, Judy and Mary and her solo stuff

  • @yukigirlydoll How was the meaning altered?

  • I honestly think that this may be the best anime ever created.

  • Rurouni Kenshin rocks!! This opening is sooo epic! Fave part: 0:56
