ok watching your amazing tutorial but i cant repeat asking wouldn't it be easier to do lineart in illustrator pass it to photoshop and color the inner areas with photoshop??
@00SOSNewbie00 Sir, you are extremely talented, I've always been passionate about designing cartoon characters, I want to learn the way you do it. Currently I draw with mouse in illustrator. What are tools you use? Like which graphics tablet? Do you use it all the time or just when doing certain things in a character? What is your monitor's size and resolution? And anything else you use?
@mrsudipregmi Thanks a lot! I use a standard PC and a Wacom Cintiq + Photoshop. I use it all the time and my monitor is 24 inches, around 1600x1200px. That's it.
@00SOSNewbie00 Thank you very much for the reply. Wacom Cintiq, isn't that one the most expensive graphics tab in market? $2k+. Poor me I have Genius MousePen 8x6 which I don't use anymore cause I find my hands n eyes struggling to run btw keyboard, screen n the tab. Also dunno why pressure sensitive stroke in Photoshop is semi-transparent when thin, n opaque when thick can't get it to be opaque all the time regardless of stroke size. Must be missing something, googled with no luck, any idea?
Great Video. Thanks. I have one question which puzzles me. How do you change the stroke of the monkey to brown, whilst having some parts of it black? Is there a way to get a stoke and add a gradient to it? Thanks
@arcticbunny1 Actually there aren't strokes, it's a black silhouette with white shapes on top. So you can duplicate that black shape, change the color and cut it so you cover just the area you like. You can add gradients if needed.
@arcticbunny1 You can change any stroke into a shape by going to Object> Path > Outline Stroke. Then you can manipulate individuals handles and add gradients or do anything else you can do with a shape.
Sir Sergio, if this monkey want to seem sad a little, are you gonna make that shadow, highlights, flat colors etc.. again? Or you are only going to slide that all path's anchor point?
and if this process, how long take your time again?
@trackman01 In this case I would make the whole head from scratch. If it was planned then I would make it n s different way, I would put the mouth and eyes separated from the face. It's more work but it's worth.
@00SOSNewbie00 i understand sir Sergio. You are so helped for me.. i watched your all tutorials. You are doing good things for humanity. Thanks a lot. You are great person...
Google for Twisted monkey tutorial on SOSFactory Blog, it's another tutorial I wrote some time ago, there is text explaining what is going on the video.

@cuervotaylor It's just a personal preference. I hate vectors and with my Wacom Cintiq the work is funnier and faster.

Hello friend, how can you draw the shadows and lights with the brush and the brush automatically fits in the illustration?
redglobinstudios 1 month ago
@redglobinstudios I'm using a normal selection but you can hide the dotted lines with CTRL+H

Do you need to set the layer ahead or just begin drawing? I started a drawing but not sure to set the layers first.
