I'm sorry, Eric, I could only give this one star. Why do people in Austin put up with the horrible production values of local video companies? Fire the camera & sound crews, I'm SERIOUS!
Any number of people have cut better videos in their bedrooms with equipment they bought at Best Buy or somewhere like that. It's sad to see a fine guitar player cracklestatic'ed out like this.
What are you talking about - this IS an audience video with a camera from Best Buy!!
And you're blaming Eric, and apparently all the people of Austin! This was a charity event organised by Van Wilks to spread the awareness of prostate cancer, everyone gave their time for free. You're the fool.

Re-read my post, I'm not blaming Eric. It's not his fault, I have never met Eric Johnson.
But I have met Van Wilks. Ask him if he's seen my little Epiphone PT-130 Caballero that got swiped from in back of Gino's.
Essentially, you're saying that this is a pirate video, or at least was done using pirate video techniques. Most of THOSE are better than this, where's all that crackling static coming from?
Let me be clear, classicrockriffs. I'm not blaming Eric, I'm blaming YOU.
Blaming me for what - having a camera that couldn't handle the volume without distorting - guilty. Many people still appreciate seeing it even with inferior sound, sorry you're not one of them.
I assure you there is no piracy involved here.
I would clearly have liked the sound to be better, I just don't understand the need for your level of criticism, it is what it is.
"Eric Johnson is pretty much immortal. I think he found eternal youth. He NEVER ages."
-Scientifically speaking, the closer to the speed of light that you travel, the less you age.
Since Eric is now closing in on 60, and still has a full head of hair, hasn't gained a pound, and can pass for 30-40, maybe PLAYING at the speed of light has the same anti-aging effect ! lol
So many guitar greats at this show! Van's friends really came together for this benefit, and Antone's was a fitting venue for this show. You should've been there...

I was there that night, it was so great...EJ was so loud that I had to move to the far side of the stage.
David Grissom also rocked!

Pssssst, the secret is in his playing. Only through his playing can he achieve eternal life.
Realistically, It might be his vegetarian diet(or so I've read) or his practice of meditation.

Yes, it was a great show & huge turnout. EJ & David Grissom were the best. I thought the younger bands that started the show were very good too.
Wasn't the trio called Joker? Those guys rocked.
A very memorable night indeed.

There were great performances by all that night, Van was in top form, I never thought I would hear "Fools" again.
Talk about a survivor with the best of friends!
Thanks for posting.
