Allen Toussaint plays at the New Orleans festival, London

You hear so many of his songs for the first time by other artists and don't realize he wrote it. I first heard Paul Butterfield do this years ago. But then you see Allen live and he does all his favorites and you realize it's music you grew up to. And suddenly you realize you're in the presence of pure genius. The emotions are overwhelming.

I've been extremely fortunate to have seen Allen performing live for many years. I've got to tell you, he and his band are cookin' harder and stronger than ever these days. New Orleans music lives! But, the City of New Orleans needs your continuing support, get down there and stay a while, experience this music at the source, or it may just fade away.
