I remember when i got this game, it was a christmas present from my parents. This was the year of 2006, i was then as i am now a huge star wars fan. as soon as the game started, i knew, this game is the best game i will ever play, there will never, be something, as good or filled with experince and atmhosphere, as this game had, RIP SWG, you have a big place in my heart.
PS, i never had the chanse to test the magma-canon, you guys that had the chance to do that, lucky bastards!

I remember I tried the trial a long time ago, maybe 04ish, and I loved the game everything you could do and how open it was. Then I tried it again a year or two later and was severely disappointed.
The reson I think people are leving is for Star Wars TOR but the flight demo showed there is no free fligt there is no way to build your own city there are no pets there is less space on a planet like there is in SWG. I think if you actualy look there are huge player built citys in SWG.

Dude, so far SWTOR looks dissapointing, graphics and system wise. Its so cartoony looking, looks like it was made to appeal to ten year olds. The ship battle system is like old school arcade style with no freedom. The classes are all based around fighting. It wont even compare to what SWG's was. It was amazing with a world not just parties doing PVP their was RP... SWTOR just looks like shit.
Mabey they asked bioware to make the old republic because they knew this will slowly die. Put it out of it's misery or risk losing the remaining fans.

@glennjridge we have the dark forces/jedi knight series - well, we *had* the df/jk series, that was pretty awesome and close enough. smuggler fps i could definitely get down with though.

@Gdraper141 I think you should but if you do not have any of the expansions (besides Jump to Lightspeed as that is free with any trial/new accounts) pick up the Complete Online Adventures on steam and then make a new account so you can get a month free. Now with only 9 professions its your choice which one you want to be. Currently I'm a Jedi however it was quite easy to go through if take the time to grind your character. If you don't want to be a Jedi, Smuggler I think is the best.
@Gdraper141 Been with SWG from the start, still an awesome game, they have added so much, im still trying to complete stuff. As for the best prof its all how you play, they are all pretty balanced. Jedi and Commando are the most forgiving in combat, but all the profs are enjoyable to play. Recommend picking any server other than Starsider if you come back. It is way over crowded.
@mrlongbow check out swgemu project its setting up an legal (yes its legal) server to host the preCu swg we all loved it has the freedom we all loved and more its now still in beta (you can test play but its buggy thats wy its beta :P) it will prob launch within a half year so sigh up on the forum and play when it launch to bring back our beloved galaxie to live (juist google SWGemu to find the site)

i have to say: i played SWG from a month after release for 3 straight years. after CU i was like whatever, i unlocked a jedi, took me 4 months to go through the village and get what i wanted, then after NGE well, i was very unhappy, once they got rid of all the professions and took it down to only what 9? from 33 including jedi, well, i had to leave. sad to say, i LOVED swg but the game just isnt the same anymore. RIP swg... original swg :(
i played the trial a year ago and i can say there are still a high population of players on the servers, but sadly its now over 7 years old and i think its definatly showing its age, with the new mmos on the market such as the old republic. It either needs to be overhalled completly both graphics and gameply to keep it fresh or quite possibly a sequal needs to be made,but i dont think the flame will die out not with the players, it will be sony who get fed up in the end and pall the plug
Its 2010, and SWG is better then ever. There more content then you could ever complete. People who left after the CU should give it another try, its not only fixed but better then ever. Yeah, theres still plenty of people playing.

I loved SWG, played it for years, got a good guild and we had a good city.
Sure there weren't many players other than the guild but the community felt strong.
we lost a lot of people and only gained a few but we struggled on....
Then they shut down our server. That was the last straw for me and many others.
SWG is gong to really die when SWTOR comes out because the only reason people play is for a star wars MMO. Enjoy the last months people...

@mrlongbow check out swgemu project its setting up an legal (yes its legal) server to host the preCu swg we all loved it has the freedom we all loved and more its now still in beta (you can test play but its buggy thats wy its beta :P) it will prob launch within a half year so sigh up on the forum and play when it launch to bring back our beloved galaxie to live (juist google SWGemu to find the site)

i have to say: i played SWG from a month after release for 3 straight years. after CU i was like whatever, i unlocked a jedi, took me 4 months to go through the village and get what i wanted, then after NGE well, i was very unhappy, once they got rid of all the professions and took it down to only what 9? from 33 including jedi, well, i had to leave. sad to say, i LOVED swg but the game just isnt the same anymore. RIP swg... original swg :(

i played the trial a year ago and i can say there are still a high population of players on the servers, but sadly its now over 7 years old and i think its definatly showing its age, with the new mmos on the market such as the old republic. It either needs to be overhalled completly both graphics and gameply to keep it fresh or quite possibly a sequal needs to be made,but i dont think the flame will die out not with the players, it will be sony who get fed up in the end and pall the plug

Its 2010, and SWG is better then ever. There more content then you could ever complete. People who left after the CU should give it another try, its not only fixed but better then ever. Yeah, theres still plenty of people playing.

That makes know sense. Does Madden 03 have worst graphics than Madden 11, no. As time goes on the gaming technology improves. SWTOR is a better looking game (gameplay videos) It's ok, you can play an out date game. Have fun.

SWTOR will be better, but swtor is way too much like wow, and swg has some advantages like player crafting, and player housing. swtor is pretty much a star wars version of a mix between kotor and wow, which in my opinion is kinda fail. But w/e. If swg was made in 2011 hands down it would be better than swtor.
