  • Fucking awesome guy. Also sebadoh are awesome too.

  • got fed up of dinosaur after a while, so many years later i still love sebadoh, folk implosion and sentridoh. And about who´s better guitarrist i dunno, i went to see dinosaur years ago, i knew all songs and couldn´t recognize any because of a tremendous wall of loud noise, then i realize J mascis had earbuds. So he was giving all the shit he couldn´t handle. I prefer Lou´s style with the guitar.

  • I ruly wish Dinosaur Jt would go away.

  • What's the song @ 0:41?!

    It's really kick ass.

  • @werewulf19 Chunks I think its called.

  • whats the last song?

  • he hawt

  • I saw him last nite at the bootleg theatre in L.A. One of the best shows i've been too. He autographed my CD!!!

  • My life would be different (worse) without Lou Barlow's music - especially Sebadoh.

  • what is the first song that played?

  • Forget The Swan, by Dinosaur Jr. :)

  • best thing to happen to lou was being kicked out of dinosaur...he was able to focus on Sebadoh full time and made some amazing albums

  • @lethrneck4, yeah, I agree. And Dinosaur made some good albums in that period without Lou, too, it has to be said... Where You Been is one of their best albums.

  • @WelfareRobot agreed robot, i am a lot bigger dinosaur jr fan than sebadoh, but i love both..where you been is my fav album by dinosaur

  • @WelfareRobot Green mind kicks ass too

  • what song are they playing at 1:05?

  • Chunks

  • <3 <3 <3

  • Little Fury Things forever!

  • Lou should sing more with Jr.

  • was j playing a rory gallagher signature strat?

    if so my is complete.

  • sure looks like it

  • @EricRichardsonn The one that ended up being stolen along with a lot of other nice guitars he had collected

  • Oh. I am sad now.

  • It must be old film because I think the theft took place during +The Fog days . yet in the film is Lou, so I am a little confused. Perhaps he bought another Strat?

  • I hope so. It sounds pretty awesome.

  • god thank you for reuniting! you gave a fucking kickass performance in Germany although i dont remebember much cause i was hella drunk . thanks again

  • Lou is so in love with J.

  • I prefer Sebadoh and Folk Implosion simply because they have better songs. Dino has always sort of seemed overrated - especially live. The same can't be said of Sebadoh - who are a great live band. Hopefully Lou does another great record like EMOH - I bought him a bottle of wine when he played in Madison, WI. What a great guy and talented musician. peace

  • i'm with you on this. i never really got too into dino, but sebadoh i'm nuts for.

  • anybody know the name of the song at the start of the video??

  • forget the swan

  • Now we know why....

  • Comment removed

  • Lou is such a cool guy

  • davidg

    Yep!

    Talented too.

  • yawning blue messiah made me cry

  • he should bring back deluxx folk implosion.

  • the voice is too weak for the riffs.

  • I want to mash up bits of sebadoh's riffs and drum beats

  • j looks like a character from wayne's world.

  • cocksucker

    go listen to britney

  • Some people are just shy and aren't comfortable talking to strangers. I know from experience. He lets his guitar do all the talking.

  • Lou abd Seb may put songs together in half hours, but Lou is a badass on guitar-he can bring the goods to a packed house with an amped acoustic broken strings and all. and S Malkmus is a one trick pony, only a few Pavement songs stand the test of time for me,and the Jicks? yr not suppose to make careers out of music.

  • Ah don't worry just got it. Forget the Swan. Awesome track

  • Whats the track at the start? Is ist off there 1st album?

  • barlow has never gotten his due as an influence in music. the indie scene was positively drowning in ironic detachment until sebadoh came along. and that guy from the band snow patrol should pick up the phone. it's barlow calling to say he wants his singing voice back.

  • Yeah I always resented Malkmus cause the critics and indie kids always kissed his butt while Lou was pretty much ignored, especially after "Bakesale". Pavement never inspired me as much as Sebadoh or Dinosaur Jr.

  • i like pavement and malkmus a lot, though on a personal level i'd agree with what you wrote. maybe for "hipsters" irony and detachment are just easier to relate to. barlow's heart-on-his-sleeve style of writing definitely irks some people. but his work holds up and i think in the future he'll get his due as an influence.

  • I love Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and anything Stephen Malkmus has done.

    Hm.

  • what's the name of the song at 2:30?

  • its called legendary.

  • One day the people who appreciate great music in this world will unite... O yes & we will call are selves .....hush .... silence... are you ready?....... dum dum Dum!!!!

    The BarlowHeads :)~

  • Great interview. I got to see Dinosaur jr in Austin this past December, and they were great. I wish I hadn't missed Sebadoh playing there in March. I love Sebadoh, and I've had a huge crush on Lou ever since watching the video for Skull.

  • I think Lou has had hes heart broken a few times by girls. Most of the songs lamented to me my feelings when my heart was broken.

  • Twenty bucks says he's the nicest dude on the planet

  • I met him in troy. Got my picture taken with him. He talked to fans for like an hour before the show. Met J too. He didnt really want to talk to anyone and you can call it what you want, but he wasnt a dick about it he just doesnt like people. The show was awesome Lou is the nicest dude on the planet. Shit now I owe you 20 bucks.

  • that song is from lou's solo album

  • awesome

  • No one doubts that Jay has better charisma on stage or that he embraces the "guitar God" persona when he's up there. He's an amazing guitarist and certainly gives Dinosaur their power on the stage. That being said, Lou is, in comparison, not the showman and not the loud, over-the-top rocker. Instead he's a dependable bass player who helped make Dinosaur who they are and who is a 10x better lyricist than Jay or Murph. Lou's power is in song-writing, not lick trading...

  • @VintageFuzz

when i saw dino last may, and again in october, j barely moved at all, just stood stationary and played his ass of. lou, on the other hand, thrashed around like a mad man thw whole time, headbanging and screaming. much more of a showman than j.

  • @VintageFuzz Murph never wrote for dino

  • @VintageFuzz

Your probably right. I enjoy Sebadoh way more than Dinosaur Jr.

  • @VintageFuzz i disagre with you in the songwritting part, sure, lou plays great and is a fantastic bassist, but j is a much better songwriter.

    period

  • Lou barlow and friends are and is and ever will be the besto music period, music that acually means something and alos you can jam to

  • The last song is beautiful. Whats? Thanks.

  • Not sure, but it was most likely sentridoh or sebadoh, lou's bands he started after leaving Dino jr way back when

  • Thanks. I'm a fan of Sebadoh and Lous work but forgot it a bit last years. I'm not sure yet but I think this song is from Lou's solo Lp call "Emoh" of 2004.

  • theres a song on emoh called confused wich is very simulair to the song at the end, but its a different version. anyone now where to find the song in this video?

  • i saw lou,J and murph at the roxy after release of "bug". i can't tell u how loud and amazing it was ('88 or 9?). also saw them play long beach state that year. this was pre-nirvana era. they could make you weep they were so packed with passion and emotion.and all new invention. not punk-not heavy metal - it was dinosaur jr.

  • Hell yeah... My first experience with Lou Barlow was him sitting on a stool in a little bar in Columbus just singing his heart out with an acoustic guitar and nothing else.. it was touching to say the least.

  • hey we're new!!

    come watch uss

    LOVESSS it

  • I wonder why Lou never played a fender Bass VI, considering all he does is play chords on bass.

  • That's a really good point. Although I have a Bass VI myself and very rarely play it. It's just too weird...but that's why I had to get one.

  • Sebadoh rules

  • No! I too have seen them several times since the reunion , and, to me, it seemed totally the oposite. They were amazing, completely in to it. The music just hadn't dated. There was intense crown surfing and moshing.

  • Dinosaur Jr was a great band, even when it was just J alone.

Ive seen them 3 times since their reunion, and it seems to get progressivly worse. Like theyre just going through the motions. Dont get me wrong J and Lou both shred!! But it really isnt the same Dino I remember as a kid.

  • I love lou barlow...such a talented person!! good to see them do a cd again. LOVES Lou's newest cd.

  • what a band
