I have never played a mandolin, although as a huge Steve Earle and Pogues fan it's a sound i love. (Always out of tune when i pick them up). To my untrained eye your playing sounds lovely, very sublte. Great voice too. Just signed up on youtube to pat you on the back!
oh my god! the voice of an angel! its like a perfect blend of Lucinda, Emmylou, and Casey chambers.,but still all your own. where can we buy the first CD?:)
I taught myself this song on the banjo and used to just sit in my room and pluck away singing my heart out on "Concrete and Barbed Wire"...I never got beyond the 'bloody beginner' stage though and you definitely are the better singer :o)
Thank you for subscribing and for your compliment! I don't really play mandoline, as you probably noticed. I only know three chords, to accompany myself while singing... ;-) But you play really nice! I've seen some of your video's. You play beautiful guitar and mandoline!
Isn't is fun to post video's! I just started, but I post almost every!
And 3 chords is more than enough. It is the soul that counts.......

Look at you f'n'ukn' little dutch girl, putch'n'yur fingers in that damn.
Play somthing more (pr'haps even more transcendent) for us kid. Pax, blessings, n' bonum from afar.

Outstanding! Great Appalachian accent. You captured the essence of the song in it's purest form.

lovely. one of my most intense internal memories of this song was in the Venice (original) Jewish ghetto.
I thought, right, Lucinda.
Mental barriers are stronger.

Esther,
Beautiful rendition of Lucinda's song !
I saw Lucinda Williams in an outdoor concert here in Vancouver in 2005...it was brilliant and so is your version !
