I have a 2005 V-Strom and I really "want" to like the bike, but the acceleration under 4000rpm is lousy, and the gear shifting in the lower gears is really rough. Did the Power Commander help with any of that?
@edgabo2 I believe it did help a little while accelerating under 4000 rpm. It definitly cured the hiccup I was experiencing at 3000 rpm. The transmission may be a little clunky, but I have no problem with it. If you haven't done any other upgrades to the bike such as aftermarket exhaust, I don't believe it's worth the cost for the Power Commander.
as an advice to everyone who rides a vstrom mostly on tarmac and likes cornering,i suggest the Conti road attack 2. i used it to the limit ,to the footpegs and they never let me down, they hardly make more than 14k miles tho.enjoyed the hell out of them, sticky as race pirellis, friends with street bikes were impressed by the turning ability improvement of the vstrom with those tires.now switched back to good old Bridgestone battlewings.
Fast. No exact numbers. K&N air filter, TwoBros exhaust, Power Commander 5. Bike runs great. Better now at lower rpm with PCV. Now have 22,000+ smilin miles.
@nuZeelanD Proper tuning is a must to to get the most of your add ons. When you go on the power commander website, you will only find a PCV map for a stock bike. go to PC3 maps, they work with PCV also. Also Two Bros sells a tuner called the juicebox I believe. Have you repacked your cans yet? It's a simple process. one repack kit for each can. Ride Hard Have Fun but always BE SAFE.
@Toogoodtobebad in fact, nope ,never repacked them yet, thought it would take some more working time.did a little research and i think i should do it soon.my mechanic tho did some work on the injection settings to heal a gap @3500rpm and generally speaking the bike goes like crazy but sucks a lot of gas when you push it.did 239kmh on the speedo (221 on the gps).if you use a SV1000 head and injection you can easily climb to 125ps but it won't stop,it's heavy...happy riding!!
