the director was inspired by gus van sants style...duh! and gus vant sant is a great director. i prefer 2:37 than elephant, 2:37 spoke more to me with the issues and stuff. but elephant is good in a different way x

I'm aussie and i thought this movie was really really stupid. I'm getting so fed up with Australia turning into America. The schools here are nothing like that. The people are nothing like that. The beauty of this movie is, not only does it teach us the lesson not to take our days for granted, and not to ignore the person to the left, but it shows us the truth. Other movies show us the truth, yes, but I am yet to see one depicting high school as utterly raw as this one.

She killed herself because she wasn't able to deal with her problems. It just shows that no matter how normal someone may seem the could be suffering more than the obvious people and just never show it.

This movie looks so good but SO SCARY!! I want to see it when I'm 18(Or 17)with my parents because it looks really freaky but I think it sorta teaches you a lesson and is beautiful. For those who have seen it, for when I do see it, can you tell me which scenes to fast forward coz they are REALLY FREAKY or disturbing like the suicide scene and the rape scene. Its very unfortunate that some must kill themselves before their own lives have truly begun. That they feel the words and actions of some fuckin' teachers, or little piss-ant kids, or their dipshit parents make them feel stupid, different, and unloved. People are never born wanting to kill themselves, and to make someone feel so bad as to kill them self is just as bad, to me, as cutting someone else's wrists.

From what I gather(I could be off), its about a handful of high school students who each have their own emotional problems, and the events in their individual lives leading up to one of them committing suicide at 2:37pm. The basic jest of the movie is knowing from the beginning one of them will kill themselves, but not knowing which one it will be until the end(though here on YouTube, the suicide scene can be found).

If you get the chance to watch it I totally recommend it. It's one of the most realistic films dealing with a whole range of issues. Alot of people have compared it to Elephant but in my opinion even though the same sort of style has been used its a much better film. In the end you really feel for all of them. And at times its very very hard to watch.

It's cause no one talks about suicide. It's seen as this taboo subject. I think he made the film to make people aware of suicide. It can happen to anyone even happy people and there are signs but people get so wrapped up in their own lives and problems they don't see someone reaching out for help or they ignore it. This film is to make people aware so they can do something before it's too late and you loose someone important to you. Sometimes all you need to do is ask a person if they are okay.

I think the majority of people who do attempt suicide do lie and do it well they say they're fine and smile like nothings wrong that's why it's hard to see that that person is suffering. It's about isolation I think especially as teenagers we feel alone even if we are surrounded by people. It get's to a point when you feel people won't understand what's going on, it gets to a point where they can't take any of it anymore... I'm sorry about your friend you said attempted I hope she's alright now.

Thats right when a person doesnt want to live no matter how hard we try we probably wont be able to save them. But if theres a chance the slightest possibility that they can be helped in some kind of way then I think its better to try and help. Even if it's just listening to them talk without judgement or smiling, acknowledging someone we wouldnt usually notice. But that doesnt make that person or their life our responsibility in the end we're only responsible for our actions not someone elses..
