Firstly - veteran is not a sergeant, he's a master corporal (plutonowy) - one class under sergeant
Secondly - he couldn't serve in artillery unit, because they didn't use Sherman tanks. He probably was in 24th Polish Lancer Regiment, 1st or 2nd Polish Armoured Regiment.

This is excellent. Well photographed and well told. I am amazed at the lack of historical knowledge shown in some of the posts on this site though. The Poles were in the worst possible geographical position relative to USSR and Germany. His service with the Allies is a great part of the history of that time.

There's couple of mistakes:
Firstly - veteran is not a sergeant, he's a master corporal (plutonowy) - one class under sergeant
Secondly - he couldn't serve in artillery unit, because they didn't use Sherman tanks. He probably was in 24th Polish Lancer Regiment, 1st or 2nd Polish Armoured Regiment.
I cant get well look of pennant...

That's the f... true about war and baout Germans and Prisoners of War. Every time German were kicked by Polish Soldiers the took revange at unarmed PoW. search --> 40:1 It's about "Guderian way to succes" He orderd to kill some of PoW and blackmailed that he kill every of tooked defender of Wizna.

the poles didnt deserve what they got. and likwise czeckoslovakia. both countries were dragged into the war by no fault of their own and suffered heavy losses. im surprised that any polish jews survived at all. WWII was a nighmare and people playing WWII games need to remember that the real soldiors had no checkpoints. they died, they stayed dead. people forget also that more people died in the soviet collectivisation program than the holocaust and that neeps to be remembered too. This is excellent. Well photographed and well told. I am amazed at the lack of historical knowledge shown in some of the posts on this site though. The Poles were in the worst possible geographical position relative to USSR and Germany. His service with the Allies is a great part of the history of that time.

ALL soldiers who died during the war had to be respected and remembered by us today. Eiter polish, american, british, russian, french, norwegian or german, japanese etc. U know why? Because they fought because they all felt the duty to fight, all of them were just doing their jobs. There is no 'pure evil side' of any conflict, that's why war's hell - innocent people kill innocent people.

Oh my god, dont make me laugh. Its sure that Polish didn't killed as many civilians as germans did, but believe, if someone ruined your life, you will kill every man/woma/child who will help you to get revenge. If Polish army would get into Berlin they would rape, murder and kill innocents as germans did. We cannot say that polish nation is innocent. There is no innocent nation in this war.

Germans ruined Poland but we don't see any Poles killing Germans do we. How do you know? Were Russians captured during the Victory at the Vistula treated badly?

In Poland the Inquisition but her victims didn't act or persecuted by her they hid themselves in Poland because it was the most tolerant place for a lot of centuries in Europe.

Of Poland the soldier acted according to a code of honour they didn't attack civilians, they didn't murder defenceless, fought with the enemy and for the freedom "our and your" identifying Poles with Germany or France or Russia is passing each other from the truth. Poland poorly was prepared for the war, they didn't have the fill of the equipment and the ammunition in order to oppose the invader. Poles not only fought against Germany but also from 17 September against the USSR.

Wiesz, ja staram się zauważać obie strony medalu. Jestem dumny z naszej kultury i dobytku. Lecz jestem załamany Polską mentalnością, reprezentantami naszego narodu (rządem), czy chociażby stanem naszych ulic. (Na miłość boską, można by sprzątać gówno po swoim psie?) I cieszę się że się urodziłem Polakiem, lecz równie cieszyłbym się będąc Szwajcarem, Niemcem, Rosjaninem, Paragwajczykiem czy Amerykaninem.

Po części masz rację, nawet nie wiesz jak bardzo bym chciał żeby Polska przestała być krajem II świata. Ale co JA mogę zrobić, jeżeli zaraz jakiś łysy nastolatek z łukiem brwiowym na moim poziomie nosa, wyskakuje z "JEBAĆ POLICJĘ". Z takiej młodzieży nic nie wyrośnie. To be fair, Britain and France at least declared war on Germany over 1/9/39 (but not the Soviets, which was hypocritical but sensible).

only reason i had bought that game was because it had canadians and polish stories to tell, I didn't like the game(IW makes the best CoD games IMO) but I bought it because I needed to show support that people are interested in listening to other countries' stories of WWII, not just the same old crap that keeps getting repeated by retelling america's britain's and Russia's story.

German losses : unnown is number of killed by Polish Soldiers, total killed by Alliend forces over 10.000, 5613 Prisoners of War, 75 tanks,44 Self-propelled guns, 106 guns, 38 armored cars, 207 other vechicels (mostly trucks).

Of course not, and you shouldn't! Im polish (born in poland) and I visited once a concentration camp memorial. There was this big book with all "guests" the nazis murdered there. Allthough I'm not a jew nor was anyone from my family, I found lots of people from my family in this book. That was a terrible feeling.

Interesting,the allied veterans who survived often found a way to forgive the german soldiers they encountered (look the beast of omaha story) and the most angry people are those who never saw the war. All I'm saying, we should follow the lead of those who fought and died in this war and try to forgive.

His story could be used to makes the movie. he exeped from the running train from russian. fight with germans everywhere. After war he moved to New Polish terytory where there was some germans people and he lived with them in neighbors normall without angry.

As soon as Germans got know that they fighting Polish Soldiers, they destoyed their Soldiers diarys... There was bloodbath. Shooting to meds etc. German unit fighting ther was famouso of executions civils and PoW in 1939 in Poland. I'm not saying that evry of them was war criminal. The bad fame had all unit and they knew about it...

Polish soldiers were not invited to participate in the victory parades in London and Moscow in 1945. Poland was more like an object of mutual relations than like a partner of the Great Powers. Western Allies emphasized the heroism and determination of the Polish soldiers and the fact that Poland was a very valuable ally. Polish state that emerged after the war was harmed by subordinating it to the Soviet Union.
