  • The price is posted in big letters. "And that's where the Dodge boys START to deal," she shouts, tacitly suggesting the price is too high. LOL

  • My dad has a 67 Hemi Charger 4-speed he bought in 1969 still has it you tube how to power shift a hemi car....

  • These cars had "style"...not like the faceless things we have to choose from today.

  • one of my all time dreamcars is 1966 charger

  • @VindicatedNinja, What did you expect? that thing IS a Station wagon

  • When she said Wagon, despite how fast they were, my heart dropped.

  • today $3,250 wouldn't buy the engine

  • 3,257? still cant afford it

  • There was also a 413 hemi.

  • @isuckaman there was never a 413 hemi...392 yes 426 yes...the 413 was not hemi head :)

  • @camtheman65 You're right. It was a wedge. I guess that made it a semi-hemi.

  • @isukaman actually the big block chevy is more of a semi hemi than the 413 :)

  • Good Price! I should go see the "Dodge Boys" right now!

  • Where is the fine print about a professional driver on a closed course? Oh, I know why. Americans weren't pussys back then.

  • @gregwddriver LOL, I was just thinking the exact same thing!!!! We have become an increasingly litigious society since then.

  • i wish the new 2011 charger was that much

  • @OMGWTF31 throw out all the safety features, the emissions packaging, the stability control systems, and the modern car radio and all its accessories, and it would be around $10,000

  • Brings back alot of great memories. Had a 1966 383 Charge A/T in this same color but with copper bronze interior and the spinner wheels. Paid $900 for it and sure wish I still had it. Could easily get 3rd gear scratches.

Only car I know of that had bucket seats in the back and a console that went all the way back to the rear seats and then after unlatching the rear divider from inside the trunk had all that space - used to smuggle beer and friends in to the local drive in.

  • Those Dodge Coronet Chargers were nice cars. I had one when i was in high school.

  • I'd sell my first-born to have one of those cars. 426 the only way to go...but that upped the price a thousand or so...pocket change today.

  • The only cars you get for a little over 3,000$ is an old clunker that'll coat twice as much to fix

  • When I saw the price... I went to take a cold shower in the dark, naked and curled into a ball while crying and rocking myself back and forth.

  • That's a lot of trunk room to take a ride with lots of girls rofl.

  • Buying power of one 1966 USD compared to 2010 USD is $7.7. That means 3,257 * 7.7 = 25K. An average car price didn`t change, the money changed either.

  • @RivieraByBuick A $25,000 car today might be more advance but they sure look cheaper! All that chrome and styling... gone...

  • my pc was almost as much as this car used to cost damm thats cheap

  • $3,257!!! wow now you can't buy one for 25,00!!

  • Who was this girl? She was in all the magazine ads for Dodge too back in the mid to late 60's.

  • @mewhor Pam Austin, she was an actress, in episodes of The Man From Uncle and the TwilightZone.

  • @OsbornTramain Hey, thanks! Its funny that I never made the connection in all these years. She was as familiar to us back then as Flo from progressive is today.

  • how much are they now

  • 3257????? ill take two please.

  • $3257?

    I'll take a dozen

    thats only like $40K

  • @YodaPala only if china made them, then it would be insane!!!! :D the muscle car will be reborn :D!!!!

  • awwwwww i thought it said 1969 dodge charger haha the 69 charger makes me horny

  • That's a lot of trunk room for *cough cough*... Nothing. =]

  • WOW THAT'S A LOW PRICE!

  • as hot as the second generation charger is,i still love the boxier 66-67 models

  • WOW THATS GREAT PRICE now youd have to pay out the asssssss for an old school. i hate american cars nowadays you know just the basic bullshit when it comes to kinda of basic i like JDM. but when it comes to ur country old school. you cant hate that

  • Man i would love to get a dodge charger for $3,257 now days

  • i have this car...anyone want to buy????30.000.

  • @darrylhaynes HAhahaahha $30,000 for a 66'??? Must be fucking amazing!

  • Great now all i need is a time machine and go back to1966 and buy one with 2010 money!

  • This will be my next car

  • ahhhh real chrome & leather in the interior unlike the plastic mobiles of today

  • With a 440 or a 426 you could not grab the 100 dollar bill taped on the dashboard when starting from a stand still

That was the voice of Frank Cannon,( William Conrad in the commercial!

  • First generation is better than second. Second is more popular, but first is real classic.

  • i wish chargers were that much now...

  • 4'gs wtf

  • i saw this version in saint louis near the rte 66 in a kind of hidden car market with only OLD SCHOOL cars <333 for about 12.180$ was really really surprised that it was that cheap O_O!

  • $3257 in silver dollars!

  • about 30G's in today's money. Still a good price...

  • She looks like barbie LOL

  • $3,257 that was a long time ago.......

  • That was a lot of money for 67. Looks like its going to flip over when it takes those turns. I always need a space to carry my oars and picnic basket. This car was a monstrosity....and I love Chargers.

  • Are you " Dodge Material " lol

  • Man, 60s advertising was just so lame. I realize it was appropriate for the era but these days an advertisement is most effective at 15-30 seconds length. Anything longer is taking a risk.

  • @jakemiller5000 taking a risk?

  • @ramblergarage

Attention span. These days people expect to see the facts of/and the product at a quicker pace. A commercial that's over 30 (45 seconds at most) risks averting the attention span of the viewer. It's no wonder that most commercials these days aren't even close to a minute long.

  • First car,after xjs and xk8.

  • I have owned two red Chargers, a '66 318 auto and a '67 383 4 speed. I gave the '66 ( with the engine and trany from the '67 as it was stuffed in the rear) to my younger brother. He still has it! Truly a great car! I liked the dash lights...no bulbs, but an "Electro-luminence" green plate attached under the dash gauge "mask" that lit up when turned on at night. There was no glare! The radio and shift indicator also were "E-L" but not on the '67. The '67 also had front-fender signal indicators.

  • Damn that price at 0:48 omg XD!!

  • Ive only seen one 66 charger up close and it was at a bodyshop getting restored.

  • I've only seen one up close to.. At Spencer Speedway.. Drag racing... My dad has a '69 S/E Charger though...

  • 1969 was the BEST year.

  • Hell yeah! I want a '69 S/E with the fastest engine that can be hooked up to it..

  • $3257? Sign me up, ill take 2. But whats the fine print say under the car during the price clilp? probably: "Price subject to add an extra diget in the next 40 years"

  • man what a car.

  • wasn't the first charger a c-body car then they went to the b-body platform?

  • my dads 1966 dodge chrger has a 383 magnum his ucal bout it new and he gave it to my dad in the mid 1980s

  • shzz I will give you 3257 right now for that car yeah 43 years too late well I can deam well I will stick with my mint ' 68 dodge I have

  • 3200 bucks. Far cry from the 30k you;d pay nowadays for something new!

  • Well they don't build 'em like they used to so why sell them like they used to.

    Right?

  • You could buy a three bedroom two garage ranch house for $14,000.00 back then. It's all relative. :)

  • When American cars were No. 1 in the World! This used to be a hell of a good country!

  • Where's the Mopar ad where the sherriff pulls the car over, and says, "Bowah, Ahh KNOW that ain't no lawnmowah engine in theah"

  • Funny, my brother has had a '66 Charger for about 20 years now, and I wanted to buy it from him a few years back, but honestly, as much as I loved my '66 cuda and that charger, I can't stand driving older cars.

  • I know what you mean. With the new revelations in comfort and having everything within' an arms reach, then you go to one of these and it's like... you have to yell at your passengers so they can hear you.

But a damn fine drive, if'n I do say so myself.

  • Well said! Great memories, but they had drum brakes, and handled like a boat! My '66 had stiff suspention as I put stronger torsion bars in it. My '70 'Cuda was pretty, but my mini-van handles better! I get a chuckle when people Ooh & Ahh over old Mustangs! Nice until you drive one!

  • I got a friend with a 60s mustang we hooked it up Brembo brakes, Hotchkis suspension , Hotchkis powersteering, Good Year high preformance tires and it doesn't handle bad at all, better then a BMW so mustangs are nice even nicer if you drive one ;)

  • Sounds nice!

I was referring to stock steering/suspension.

You could get a washing machine to handle like a race car if you spend enough money.

For my money, I would do what you did, however, frame and body strength have improved as well.

    Gotta love driving kool cars!

  • hmm, I thought McPherson coilover struts and steering r&p stuff made the handling of 60s Mustangs a lot better than torsion bars equipped models of the time. Was this due to factory setups? I've never driven a Mustang, but a '60 Impala - yes, but it has A-arms and etc.

  • ah true i retract my statement. my bad dude.

  • $3,257 for a NEW CAR!!! That's the down payments these days.

  • yeah but in '66 that was a small fortune...probably comparable to a 30 thousand dollar car now

  • Charger 66 is the best car for me. I already have mine in my garage. It is 100% original I'm 22 years old,and It is my first car which I'm gonna restore as brand new.

  • This really makes me want to go out and buy one. I can't say that for many other cars out there (including the new Charger).

  • Do u think so ? Look wat happent to Toyota, wel budy not so good ....

  • My dad had one but he sold it when I was nine because he was afraid I would kill myself in it when I got my licence and wanted to hedge his bets and got rid of it when I was young. Cool car. Remember riding in it when I was little. Had a pillow in the backseat that had this massive pin in it that I think was to keep it in place or something. Always pricking myself with it. I miss it alot. But he was probably right. I would have killed myself. 383 Hemi. Yeah probably

  • Great car but the 383. That's not a Hemi engine. Only the 426 at the time was a Hemi. Before that were other Hemi. The 392 for one. 318's, 360,'s, 383's, 400's and 440's are not Hemi Engines, only the 426. Means, Hemispherical combutsion chambers

  • No kidding, Didn't know that. Well you learn something new every day. Still miss that sound when he would romp on it.

  • @OsbornTramain

Hemi means that the heads were hemispercal in shape. Has nothing to do with the engine block. Desoto also had a 330 ci hemi back in the 50's..

  • @falcongene DeSoto was made by Chrysler who makes Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler and Imperial. They all had Hemi's

  • You can always buy the new Dodge Charger with the Hemi engine in it., and go hog wild!

  • @smharlan6 I'm not so sure you would have killed yourself in a tank like that.

  • Ohh..i love this commercial and Pamela too.

    Wonder what shes doing nowadays?

  • 1968 thur 1970 looked a hell of alot better.

  • This is a damm cool car dude

Wat i dont understand is the American car industry is on its way back.... wat u see now on the US highways is only Japanese trash cars

  • Only the Japanese 'trash' will survive the recession, mostly because that's what people will want to buy. Chrysler had better figure that out, or go out of business. Making cars with gas-guzzling Hemi engines in them is not the way to go.

  • only reason they are trash to you is because your a domestic elitist sneyder. learn to appreciate both of em.

  • i think he used quotes around 'trash' to quote what alot of people are calling them, not what he personally thinks of them. (plus why would he tell Chrysler 2 smarten up uf he was an "domestic elitist"

  • Nice try, Neville6000, but the most American made car you can buy today is the Toyota Camry. It is stamped, assembled, and painted here by American (non-union) workers, with the most parts purchased from American companies. My Dodge mini-van is made in Canada. This Country was bought and sold long before you were born!

  • I never insulted the Camry at all-I was saying that Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, and Subaru might survive better the domestic Big Three because they are well-built and have relatively few maintenance problems compared to the Big Three. And Toyota at least tried to build a decent hybrid car, unlike the Big Three.

  • back when they could sell you a car based on four barrels and dual exhaust...Cute girl helps too.

  • @kevinsbuick Yeah, now it's all about 35MPG and 3878378 airbags.

  • Now it looks positively ludicrous, but I remember the Dodge Rebellion led by the lovely and talented Pamela Austin, the blonde spokesbabe in this commercial. She showed up a year or two later on Laugh-in, much to delight of my fluttering 13-year-old heart. And oh, yeah, the car was hot stuff too, but not as hot, in my opinion as the '68.

  • this is crazy cool commercial!

  • My wife before we got married had an immaculate '74 Charger 440 she sold in the early 90's! After she told me that, I wanted to cry......

  • I got one of those, COOL car, and just FULL of neat features!

  • Charger 66 is the best car for me. I already have mine in my garage. It is 100% original I'm 22 years old,and It is my first car which I'm gonna restore as brand new.

  • I was going to purchase 1972 Dodge Charger and while trying it out the transmission started to slip. Dealer was trying to fix problem, and 8/12/72 I purchased my 1972 Chevelle and still own it today. 350 motor turbo hydramatic.

  • LOL - who's putting oars in the back of their car??

  • Somebody who has a boat?

  • Back before people sat on computers all day they did things in the place known commonly as 'Outside'.

  • I remember viet nam started and people were getting drafted.

  • Oh yeah, the cars were nicer, but the blondes were as stupid as today!

  • dam so many nice cars back then. makes me jealous of older people.

  • Those 7 1/2' sure come in handy when your 6 1/2' tall and on a date. ;) I sure miss my old 66.
