That cats so chill! When I raised some orphaned baby opossums, they hung out on my shoulders. As soon as I finished feeding them, they'd crawl up my arm and crash. I even fell asleep once and woke up with them still pin place. Any mom will do in a pinch. Ever see the pics of the dog nursing a kitten and baby horse?

We could learn a lot from them.

If you had opossums in your house you would never have any mice, rats, roaches, snakes, lizards, crickets, snails or slugs in the house. *****Opossums are the ultimate pest-eaters*****. Plus they're naturally "litter-trained";- they go potty in shallow water, so all you'd need is 2" of water in a cat litter pan. Much easier to clean, too;- just pour in toilet, flush, rinse, repeat and your done.

Possums climb on their mother's back and don't get off bcz that's what they do. I don't think the cat is too happy. She looks very uncomfortable. I don't blame her. Poor thing.

Don't judge by looks. They're more closely related to Kangaroos than rats or raccoons, which people often liken opossums to.

The "eHow" site has a video of a zookeeper who says possums don't make good pets, but doesn't give reasons.

My own impression is that they smell, and might bite really hard because rough play/interaction with humans hasn't been bred out of them.

I saw 2 possums near the base of a tree recently, one trying to chase off the other from "his" tree. The one allowed me to come really close, and I showed him the palms of my hands, which (I think) they interpret as "I mean no harm".
