  • so great riff..too much 80´s on there,,congra....

  • Love the riff, great playing, excellent stuff.

  • This is going on the big screen at all my parties. Awesome!!

  • wow this is pretty awesome! respect!

  • How old are you? you're real good :)

  • awesome phrasing and note choice, do you still live in thurso?

  • @fraser149 Cheers mate! I don't anymore, I live down Glasgow way now, for college, but I'm always back up during my time off from college.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo cool, it's great to hear about another scottish guitarist doing so well, all the best mate :)

  • Mad chops, and more importantly putting them to good use! Very tasteful man.

  • Haha all these fools talking about ripping riffs off. I'm going to resist the urge to rant and instead say: Great track man, good fun, tasty playing, and never had you pinned as the sweep picking type haha!

  • AWESOME!

  • big like

  • Will you guys just STFU about this whot in the dark thing and enjoy the music , you lifeless fucks...

  • really nice man. Ignore people giving you a hard time about the intro sounding like shot in the dark. there's tons of songs out there that sound a little bit like something else but that is bound to happen with all the millions upon millions of guitarists out in the world. when I write something that I think sounds cool, I'll call up some friends and play it for them. they will sometimes tell me that it sounds alot like some other song that I honestly have never heard before. keep kickin ass man

  • tasty as fuck mate. serious chops.

  • CLICK ON: disccentury. MY MUSIC, NEVER SEEN

  • funny, it sounds like this and sounds like that, well it sounds like Lyle to me.. awesome pal..

  • awesome playing!

  • what camera, recording and video software are you using?

  • @mapexdad I'm using my Dad's Canon 5DMKII, I'm recording the audio in Reaper, using Amplitube 3 for the guitar tones, and the video software I use is Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo So reaper for audio, Sony Vegas for video, but how do you mix those two together and sync them up? It's all great quality so we can enjoy the fantastic playing a lot more. Thanks Lyle!

  • @MatthijsBudding Export the audio from Reaper, import it into Vegas, drag it into the video timeline, sync it up (no real tricks for that, just trial and error, unfortunately), then mute the camera audio track.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo Thanks man!

  • Impressive, great feel.

  • what kind of camera do you use? great song btw

  • dude ur a demon how old r u?!!?

  • 4:15 to 4:17 sound like a megadeth solo.... get tell which one =(

  • You do realise you jus ripped off the riff from Shot In the Dark right?

  • @LiamIstKrieg No, I didn't rip it off. ''Rip-off'' suggests that it was intentional. I admit, the intro riff is very similar to the intro riff from Shot In The Dark, but when I wrote this song, I'd never even heard Shot In The Dark! Also, the track is an instrumental track, with harmony guitars and a long guitar solo at the end where do you hear that in SITD? It's a 5 minute long track with about 30 seconds that sound similar to Shot In The Dark - I'd hardly call that a rip off.

  • @ashwalyeo If you don't believe that it was unintentional, then you can believe that. I know the truth, and the truth is that it was unintentional.

FWIW, I am not an Ozzy fan, outside of Black Sabbath - ''Paranoid''. I heard Shot In The Dark for the first time a year ago, by which point this song had already been written.

You can believe what you want to believe, but I know what the truth is.

  • @ashwalyeo Dude, they're pretty generic chords. In fact I think I wrote a riff with exactly that progression but in a different key a while ago. And before you get on me about the rhythmic ideas, that's also quite generic. It's coincidental man, Lyle would obviously NEVER intentionaly "rip off" someone else's music. Get over it.

  • Sounds sweet though :D

  • Holy shit that really is shot in the dark lol

  • Awesome instrumental mate! Please tell me does that ML1 have the standard pickups in it? sounds crazy nice.

  • Great playing Lyle!!!! ;0)

  • i think you'd get more subscribers using another screenname :)

  • @DennChooch This may be true, but I think I'm doing quite well with this one - 77 subscribers since last night.

Also, Youtube won't let you change usernames, and I'm not going to start a new account now, this one's doing pretty well. I think that if the content is good enough, the username doesn't matter - I hope that doesn't sound too big headed, because it's not the intention.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo why would that sound big headed? :p was just sharing a thought. content is fine!

  • That is totally awesome playing young dude! LOL

    Love it!

    Farl

  • How old r u?

  • are chapman guitars good?

    (honestly?)

  • @banjovlogs There amazing mate! I am a Chapman artist like Lyle myself and play a custom ML1 and just got an ML2 and there both brilliant guitars for a fraction of the price that they should be! You wont be disappointed with them!!

    Benni

  • So tell me Lyle, did that guitar get it, like your t-shirt suggested?

  • I was just wondering also, how do you rate the volume roll off on the bridge pickup?

  • New guitar sounds great smurf.

  • How did you get your ML-1? B-stock? From Rob?

  • wooooooooow awesome man \,,/, >< ,\,,/

  • This is kick ass. That is how I remember music from when I was kid. Great Job

  • Dam that was good!!

  • this guitar sounds very similar to a parker..

  • yeah man this song is tight. i've listened to it about 5 times today already! is there a way i can download this to my i-pod?

  • subscribed cause that was so damn nice! great job man :D

  • had to favorite this bad boy killer playing man the ML1 looks great does it still have the stock pickups in it ??

  • sounds like shot in the dark by ozzy.

  • @wickedwizardofspeed Haha, a lot of people have been saying that, but I can honestly say that it was not intentional. I'd never even heard Shot In The Dark when I wrote this...

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo well first of all i should have started out by saying your song is killer none the less.

i have a question for you. are you micing an amp, or are you plugged in directly and shaping you sound that way?

  • @wickedwizardofspeed I plug my guitar into a Focusrtie Saffire LE Audio Interface, and then I use IK Multimedia Amplitube 3 for the guitar tones. Amplitube is a great bit of software, it sounds fantastic. Then I record everything in Reaper.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo right on. do you ever mic amps? i just started learning about recording the other day actually. i've been trying to use audiobox usb and studio one. how do you put into video haha?

  • @wickedwizardofspeed I very rarely mic amps. It's incredibly impractical in the house, and takes a lot of trial and error to get a good tone, where as Amplitube is far more practical - you can record at low volume, and you can go back after you've recorded and make adjustments to the tone - you can even change amps and effects entirely! It's great!

I think I'm going to do a video on how I record my videos soon - a lot of people ask me how I do it - watch this space...

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo thanks a lot man you've been a big help. i subscribed to your cannel so keep those videos coming!

  • The beginning of your video sure sounded like Ozzy, maybe a chord or Two different. Great playing BTW. What did you use to record this with? Microphones?

  • all around, great!1

  • the last two minutes were great

  • The intro reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne's "Shot in the dark".

  • lovely playing bro enjoyed that and that guitar is absolutely sick!!

  • What gear are you using to record this, and the prgramm? Cheers, keep it up, awesome!!

  • That single coil in the neck gives me chills. Its got such bite to it!

  • loving man, this just needs some sick Iron Maiden wailing over the top and you're set!

  • Sounds great, is that a stock or did you customise?

  • @lauriemonk Yep, all stock!

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo Great tune too, lots of melody, no overplaying. Thats a sweet sounding guitar... but we all know it's in the fingers :) Keep up the great work kid... extra deep fried mars bar for you tonight :)

  • @lauriemonk This is a really good guitar though. Especially for the money. The pickups are absolutely fantastic - got a great bite to them.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo my 2 reservations about this guitar are the reverse headstock and the trem because im not sure how well they stay in tune

  • nice work my friend, real nice work!

  • Awesome improvising. Great tone. The track, sounds to me, like a 80's track. Like early Dokken maybe Ozzy.

  • Very good, a very likable tune you've got there ;).

  • any chance of just getting the backing track to this??? Loving the song btw

  • That was bloody fantastic

  • Chappers sent me here! I vowed never to watch another guitar video again since I had to sell my LTD and my Line6 after losing my job :(

  • @fretzombie Sorry to hear that mate, that sucks. I hope you get a job soon - and I hope you get a guitar too!

  • nice vid dude!!whats your camera looks pretty good!

  • are you getting a ml2?

  • Wow man, I'm totally impressed. How old are you?

  • This is wicked mate, really excellent! I personally think you have a great tone.... Really good work dude!

  • Absolutely awesome dude! ;-)

  • @RobChappers You are Absolutely awesome Rob ;)

  • hey at 1:36 you remind me of Jake from 2 and a half men!

  • what is a denim? :s

  • The track is now available as an MP3 download from my Facebook page! Check the description box for the link.

  • I have to say I really enjoyed it, but i wasn't really satisfied with the tone. Personally.

  • @lilgangstabro That's fair enough mate - we've all got different tastes!

  • @lilgangstabro You are quite clearly jealous of this super playing and very nice tone.

  • @ANDYB1478 Hahah nah dude. I think the playing is excellent and I couldn't write something like this anytime soon, I'm just personally not satisfied with the tone. Every other aspect is spot on, really.

  • Awesome....and congrats on the chapman...thats some partnership!...you and them!

  • nice stuff!

  • hey lyle, great tune and really nice guitar. congrats on the endorse... i was wondering, what camera model are you using? really nice video quality

  • I really like everything you've done so far, but it's sad to hear that you don't play this kind of stuff, because this is excellent. Oh well, keep playing my friend, you're excellent :)

  • @dahudge14 I do this kind of stuff every now and again - it's good fun, it's just not where my musical tastes lie right now. I might start doing more of this though, you never know. ;-)

  • @dahudge14 I totally agree with you

  • Well done McEvil :)

  • Good lord, Lyle, you somehow manage to get better with every video. This is awesome, your phrasing is spectacular here.

  • Nice track! What camera are you using here? Looks really good

  • @scottishguitarguy I'm using my Dad's Canon 5D. I've been using it as much as possible while I'm home :D

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo dont worry when your not home u can using my canon :P

  • Awesome playing as usual. You're fast becoming my favorite YouTube guitarist. So how many hours a day do you have to practice to reach your level of awesome?

  • @PantomimeHorseMusic Thanks mate!

I'll be honest, I never really practice. I just play. To me, ''practice'' suggests something that you're doing because you have to, not because you want to, It takes all of the fun out of playing. So while you do have to practice, I find that just sitting and playing for hours is the best form of practice there is.

  • @kirkhetfieldtrujillo I heard both you and Chappers say that, but I sit down and play and I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. Is there anything in particular you play? And how do you work on technique? Sorry for all the questions but I've felt like I've been in a rut for a while.

  • @PantomimeHorseMusic If I can butt in and say something, try learning songs that you think are slightly too hard for you and learn it and make it your bitch, so by the time you've got it down you've improved.

  • @MyxHarnett Thanks dude, that's what I try to do now. Guess I just gotta keep it up!

  • Love it, man!

    Video production is fantastic too.

  • amazing :)

  • very nice music ! and great player :)
