  • @saiAhikaru During the game,David at some point had his Bishop next to his King hanging. The obvious move was to save his bishop but by accident he touched both his King and his Bishop, without being very clear which one first.Moiseenko said there is nothing be arguing about, because it is very obvious that the Bishop is the piece that must be moved and not the King(no way David would choose to move his King). The game continued and when David had a win, remembered the scene and offered a draw.

  • wait what exactly happened? i dont understand :/

  • If people were like Navara, the world would be a better place to live.

  • @teogialigous the broadcast was not organised by chessbase

  • @BitmapMc0wnage by who then?by FIDE.Anyway whoever put them on the broadcast made a big mistake

  • @teogialigous Chessbase does not organise any such events. It's done by the local authorities in cooperation with FIDE. I must say that the broadcast was pretty good, though. You get an HD broadcast with live GM commentary in Russian and in English for free, that's really good. I think it's the first time they've had English commentary, they only had Russian commentary before that.

I think Landa was quite ok. The girl was a bit annoying sometimes, but I didn't care. I just wish I knew Russian.

  • Why are people trashing Alexander in the comments? The arbiter forced David to move the king and lose the Bishop. David stopped the clock and resigned! Alexander allowed the move back! Allowing a move back even when the arbiter agreed and the opponent resigned is sportsmanship for sure! David's fans stop hating! A draw was a fair result.

  • Alexander did not claim he move the King and David offered the draw in the won position. This is how chess players should be!

  • Criticism is easy - But I have the upmost respect for both players. In the game for kings they behaved like kings.

  • David Navara is a very friendly and humble person, and also a great player!

  • @LuxusOhr Yes he is. He and Luke McShane scored evenly for first place at Wijk aan Zee. When they gave Luke top spot due to tiebreak, Navara said, "Luke therefore became the deserved winner of the tournament. There were many other participants who played well, but I was luckier this time."

  • To elaborate that further: If Moiseenko, who also reveiced a prize for sportsmanship, were a real sportsman, he would have declined the draw offer in order to resign instead.

  • I think Moiseenko's generosity is overrated. Navara was not even aware that he had touched the king and there seems to be no video available of him deliberately touching his king. In such cases (if there is not sufficient evidence), the arbiter would have to rule in favour of Navara, anyway.

In return, Navara overreacted by offering a draw in a completely winning position. Nobody would have called him an unfair player if he had just proceeded to win. Moiseenko simply took advantage of him.

  • Spormanship still Alive!! Money is not everything in the world

    Greetings for all chess fans

  • Amazing sportsmanship from Navara - I hope it gets the public attention it deserves; many players would have simply taken the win. Cheers,

    Sean

  • lol did she say "thank you for your existence on this earth" at the end? :D :D

    Cooomoooon ;)

    Nice vid though

  • @randalph thats what the Russian commentator actually said

    lol

  • @randalph it's one of the most beautiful expressions i've ever heard actually, and very fitting for these two gentlemen.
