Rob Zombie has the skill of a pretty good director who has some interesting ideas for shots, good pacing, and a distinct style, and all the writing skills of a mentally challenged man teaching a ham sandwich how to play chess. If he would let someone else write the dialogue, this MAY have been a good movie, as it was, it was just one filth filled rant after another that completely killed any sense of drama.
I went in with an open mind, though I'm typically very reserved about remakes as it is. I found the whole white-trash back story to be absolutely irrelevant. Would Rob Zombie just go get a half-sister to fuck or something and get it out of his system already? I thought RZ's Halloween was really well put together to modernize the classic, but it's not the original. I'm a huge Rob Zombie fan and I love his movies, although H2 wasn't the best of them. He needs to continue doing his originals in my opinion.

You guys dont get...Rob Zombies Halloween is supposed to be the grindhouse/70's exploitation version of Halloween! If you go into watching the film and keep that in mind then it turns out to be pretty good and enjoyable! if you go in expecting John Carpentars Halloween (which alot of idiots did) its gonna suck.
Or if you go into it thinking the first two halloween movies, were perfect the way they were, and then rent them and watch you realize he. Completly Bastardized them, and it doesn't matter, because the movie is rubbish.

Carpenter only made 1 Halloween (he produced 2 more). The series had originally nothing to do with Michael Myers. Infact his character was ENDED in Halloween 2 (1981). Halloween was going to be like the Twilight Zone, with every movie being different and having little to do with the previous installment. But Mustapha Akkad with his greedy ass wanted Myers back. This made Carpenter LEAVE. And besides, every sequal after Halloween 3 sucked ASS (except for H20).
And? Its a remake. Its supposed to be different. And how does this movie fuck up the originals? They're still there! They're still just as great as they were before this movie came out! And no one is making you watch Rob Zombies version! Stop crying and just ignore the Rob Zombie versions!

I will say that I hate how Rob Zombie pretends to be hardcore. Michael has a loving mother who strips. Not quite enough to push someone to kill. That's not what i would have done, but if you want to wear the title of Hardcore take a cue from Henery: Portrait of a serial killer.

well, I liked the first half of the movie. I liked the character developement of Michael. But the 2nd half, which is more like the remake of the original, sucked.

Halloween 3 was not crap. No, it didn't have Michael. But what it was still a really cool Sci-Fi/Horror flick. It was 1000x's better than Rob Zombie's Halloween. And not everybody hate H3. There are some of us that were able to look passed there being no Michael and enjoy the movie.

The movie is called "Halloween 3" not "Michael Myers 3!" Personally, I think it was better to approach the concept of Halloween itself rather than just the killer in the sequels. Don't get me wrong, I do like Michael Myers but his character was supposed to remain mysterious, and how long can that go on for? If anything bastardised the series, it was the sequels 4 to 8 in my opinion.

Stylistically, I can totally understand anyone having problems with it when it goes all into Rob Zombie mod if they don't dig that hyper frantic pace. Any critic of the first 30 minutes however I just cannot understand at all because I thought it was totally new and awesome in every way.

I saw the movie guys and I completely agree with Uncle Bill that it's probably the worst sequel out of every horror franchise. The BIGGEST problem with this movie was the pacing- not even an attempt at building up tension. It also had no flowing transitions between scenes at all, it's a 1/10 film. I could go on but my comment would exceed 500 characters.

Actually.....I own a lot of horror movies and have seen a ton. Halloween 1978 is my favorite movie of all time. But scream 2 is the worst horror movie sequel. I'd say Toxic Avenger Part 2 is better than scream 2.

But Rob has mentioned his love of the original film before, you guys. He sampled dialogue in his "I'm your Boogie-Man" take, and is on the 2-disc Anchor Bay documentary of the original series...
Great reviews guys. But in the original Halloween, Myers got his clothes from the guy he killed on the way to Haddonfield, as shown in the scene were Loomis is calling the Sheriff.

There is no love because the movie SUCKS. They even managed to make the Danielle Harris topless scene UGLY. Besides, if you judge movies good just because an actress gets naked in them, you're pretty pathetic as a critic.
I love it too how Zombie said in an interview he didn't want to just have some stuntman going around in a mask killing people. That's all this movie really was after the childhood shit! All us Halloween wanted was a movie that could save the franchise and make us love it again. We got fucked once again. BIG TIME! I've lost all hope for the Halloween series.

I even tried watching the workprint and couldn't make it through and it just made me more pissed off than depressed. I will say that I hate how Rob Zombie pretends to be hardcore. Michael has a loving mother who strips. Not quite enough to push someone to kill. She should have fucked johns in front of him, and beat the shit out of him. That's not what i would have done, but if you want to wear the title of Hardcore take a cue from Henery: Portrait of a serial killer.

The remake is a lot better than the original. Nothing against the original, it was good, but the remake was more in depth. It created more than just 2 characters. You guys complained about the cussing in the movie, you guys cussed more in the video than there was in the movie. Its reimagining the original. Yeah i agree,...i liked Halloween,...and i liked it better than the Friday the 13th re-do. I didnt think it was as bad as it was made out to be. I was entertained, and Michael was Intimidating as hell being almost 7 damn feet tall. Ive seen every Halloween in the theater since the 1st.. "i was 8, lol" and yeah i think this is better than 4 on up,..i would rate them,,,1, 2, RZH etc,.

In actuality 8 is much closer to the original than the remake. The key ingredient to the original was suspense! As bad as Ressurection was, at least it had some suspense in it. Rob Zombie's Halloween had zero.

The movie is called "Halloween 3" not "Michael Myers 3!" Personally, I think it was better to approach the concept of Halloween itself rather than just the killer in the sequels. Don't get me wrong, I do like Michael Myers but his character was supposed to remain mysterious, and how long can that go on for? If anything bastardised the series, it was the sequels 4 to 8 in my opinion.

Stylistically, I can totally understand anyone having problems with it when it goes all into Rob Zombie mod if they don't dig that hyper frantic pace. Any critic of the first 30 minutes however I just cannot understand at all because I thought it was totally new and awesome in every way.

I saw the movie guys and I completely agree with Uncle Bill that it's probably the worst sequel out of every horror franchise. The BIGGEST problem with this movie was the pacing- not even an attempt at building up tension. It also had no flowing transitions between scenes at all, it's a 1/10 film. I could go on but my comment would exceed 500 characters.
