  • I don't have any audio with this converter, but it's there on my other converters. What might the problem be? I also can't crop any clips from this converter.

Download it, and retry importing your video

  • Does any one know on to insert subtitles to a video using virtualdub,in windows 7 i have tried but it's complicated

  • For some reason, VirtualDub doesn't recognize MPEG-2 videos. I got the same error when I tried to open my Panasonic camcorder videos with the program. What I do is just use the free converter program SUPER and convert the MPEG-2 file to an MPEG-1 file. Works great for me.

  • wtf im getting same error all the time when i try to compress "The source image format is not acceptable" i even got the Full K-lite codec

    can u help ;/

  • what is the type of the source video (mpeg, avi, etc) and what compression is used in the source video

  • Never mind got it sorted.

  • i fixed the problem

  • my video loses its color, what setting should i change?

  • what is the type of the source video (mpeg, avi, etc) and what compression is used in the source video

  • How can you add more of those codec options in virtualdub im specially interested in MPEG-4 couse youtube seems to prefer it.

  • We use the Full K-lite Codec Pack. The installation will include the Xvid MPEG-4. An other option is also the Combined Community Pack.

  • Thank you for replying so fast, it was really helpful. Got everything working now perfectly (atleast I think so), its just hard to find how to actually optimize videos for youtube.

  • I am trying to extract the image sequence from an AVI file, but when I make the selection, the "Save image sequence" is not there under File. Can you help?

  • Maybe try in "File" --> "Export" --> "Image Sequence"

  • Thats a nice tutorial for real nooby noobs. But I would be more interested in knowing whether there are more features in that program.

  • The music is a nice touch. Maybe other tutorials could do this...? Glad to see people helping each other.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have just helped 20 teen machinimators in Teen Second Life! Great job.

  • Hey Great!!!

But what for Teen Second Life?

  • thanks for this virtualdub tut. it was great.

since you know so much about the program, can you tell me how to cut video files at non keyframe?

because when you cut at a non keyframe it adds/takes a second or two so can you show how to cut at the exact frame that you want?

    thanx a bunch

  • Well, there is a button that allows you to move "frame by frame". It is introduced at 0:50 in the tutorial.

    Tell me if that work.

  • thanks for your reply. the frame by frame selection didn't work. virtualdub just adds or deletes frames to a keyframe if the video is cut at a non-keyframe.

the solution i have found is a Video->Smart Rendering option that is included with VirtualDub 1.7 experimental release. the previous version 1.6 doesn't have this option.

  • smart rendering basically cuts at the exact frame specified. however it can only be used with a compression not direct stream copy so you might have to cut a small part and rejoin it later if you don't want to compress a very big file.

this soultion seems to be working just fine, bug-free for now.

  • Impressive! Very good point.

  • in the video sequence part when i put ok i get an error tha says "output settings must be 16/24/32-bit RGB, uncompressed in order to save TARGA or JPEG sequence" what do i do ¿?

  • You mean the "Image Sequence" part?

  • great tutorial ! it really helped , i needed to take part of video and that was the perfect vid thanks !

  • Cool! nice thing it helped :D
