Definitely a lot better than the cookie cutter 'Roasts' today.Aside from the Com Central ones of Shatner,Pam Anderson and Denis leary,the other Roasts are a bevy of 'who's thats' and 'are they STILL alive?'
And they arent insulting the honorees here,they are ribbing them,which is far different than whats considered comedy roasting today.
And the Situation wasnt alive back then,thank god.
Comedy Central Roasts need to take notes from this, have the people roasting the person of the week use less cussing so we dont have to hear so many bleeps throughtout the show.
Hilarious!!!! Little totally put away "the Mouth that Roared" and buddy Jack Klugman next to him. Rickles was practically on the floor, a great comic and a great sport. I don't remember who said it, but some years ago a great personality said, "I'd rather be insulted by Don Rickles than blessed by my pastor, because behind Don's insult is a mound of love and a generous heart more precious than gold."
