  • That is incredibly good though I wouldn't have tremoloed the beginning for slightly longer than the original, an' I'll bet there are drawing pins on the backs of those hammers. Ten ten buddy, keep up the authenticity.

  • wicked!

  • woohoo...beautiful!

  • what a beautiful job!!

  • Awesome.

  • Awesome!

  • Love this piece too and I'm sure I can manage it if I can just find the time. It's in the queue with a whole bunch of other Ammons stuff.

    Just great!

  • Wow, I'm impressed and inspired. I've been playing 2 years and am just learning some basic boogie from an old instruction book from the 40's. It can be daunting, but I'm enjoying the process of learning. I love learning the different left hand patterns...Keep up the good work, you're really good.

  • Excellent playing man. Is it possbe to get the sheets?

  • I've been studying that left hand for months now, still can't do it...

But - weird enough - that 'double left hand - ain't no problem!

    Anyway, great job!

  • Very nice! I'm looking for the music of this piece, but I don't find it. Can you tell me where can <I buy it online? Thanks a lot! FAbri (Italy)

  • I can send you a copy, but why don't you try this guy's video tutorial? It's called Boogie Woogie Stomp - lesson 1.

  • @andreboogie :

    Cam

  • Haha! Gee I didn't know my playing was that good lol!! :P

    I hope you unterstand what I mean^^

  • Did your keys already break, as result your hard playing?

  • Haha :) no I'm actually quite a soft player :P

  • Nice Play! I try to learn it too now!

  • Thanks! :) Good luck with it...it's a great piece!

  • one word: amazing!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Where do you find this music. I have been looking everywhere for it! Do you order it online? If so, please tell me which website.

  • Lol, loving the honky tonk sound of your piano, but still in tune and seems to have a nice sharp response! great playing too! I still wish I could play boogie ha!

  • Haha yeah it's a beautiful old piano...perfect for boogie I think :) Quick, light action/feel. Looks about the same period as yours actually.

I'm planning on giving mine a full restoration eventually...action and all! I'm not getting rid of this one!

  • Very nice Boogie Woogie! Thx for the show! Think I´ll gonna try this one now.

  • Cool! :D Post a vid when you're done and let me know...I'd like to see/hear it :)

    Thanks mate,

    Cam

  • Sweet. It is fun to listen to you. Is that one part an improvision? It is the coolest thing ever! You inspired me to play this piece! --Nick

  • Yeah parts of it are just a bit of impro... Thanks for the comment Nick, that's awesome that you're inspired!!! Keep it up and you'll get there! ;)

    Cam

  • I swear I could sit and listen to you play all day. I love the way you play boogie woogie. Thanks for sharing these awesome videos.

  • Thank you for your encouraging comments!! :)

I feel like I could play all day too...I just love boogie woogie!!

  • He's not better, just different than Cam.

Cam is more of a purist and his sound is better especially on his unique upright piano. Boogie Woogie sounds better on an upright than a Grand piano.

  • You are sooooooooooo good...love it.

  • Hey James

Nice to hear from you! Hope things are well :)

Thanks for the comment mate! :)

  • especially after doing his lessons ,you can appreciate his timing a lot more.i too had some problems with the left hand.

  • watch his lessons here on youtube

  • Start off playing one slowly and gradually faster (start with the left) then add basic rythms in the right and eventually you can play like Cam.

  • Hey! I commented you before! It's been a while since I've seen your video. I've been practicing alot, and after learning more about the piano than I did previously, this piece actually doesn't seem as complicated as I originally thought. I might be able to play it by ear, if I listened to it enough times!

Anyway, once again, I think you're great pianist! Keep on boogieing, my friend!

  • Hey there! :)

I'm so glad you're finding it not too hard!! Maybe you can post a video soon :D I hope so!

    Thanks for the comment!

    Cam :)

  • Hey Mili!!! Wow thank you very much I really appreciate your comment. Yeah we need more pianos in cafe's in Australia...that would be so fun!

It was amazing to meet you and Andrew and I had a great time talking with you.

    Take care,

    Cam :)

  • Wow thanks mate!! yeah they're all awesome boogies aren't they! :D

  • awesome playing:) i play by ear:) great job:) keep it up:)

  • thank you! playing by ear is good...makes you a better player ;)

  • Great Job! Keep posting instructions and I'll keep learning. I just got a keyboard today...just for THIS. Boogie on, brother.

  • Wow well done..thanks i need to get more vids up soon! :s

  • i learn to play this back to front and then i hear you play it.i realise i have a long way to go....your timing is incredible.did you do many takes?if i learn to play it this good i will post a vid of it...thanks for the lessons

  • Thanks :) yeah i did a few takes...just keep at it mate you will get there...believe me! :)

  • Hey cam, I'm a typical averagely good learner- 12 year old. Do you think I could learn dive bomber in 8 months?

  • Yeah 8 months should be plenty of time if you practice regularly.

  • Thanks so much

And I can't stop watching your videos !!

    You're a legend :)

  • superb, loved it lady godiva from me

  • haha thanks :)

  • does anyone know where i can get the sheets to this?

  • Bravo! You are really great.

  • Hey thanks mate, I appreciate it :)

  • Hi Cam, now in my Blog BoogieWorld! there is a post about your old piano and this incredible Boogie Woogie Stomp.

I am sure many Italians are going to like them.

  • How long did you learn this track?

  • Well it took me a few months to learn this...but I'm a slow learner lol :P

  • One of the old greats reincarnated.

  • This is awesome

  • haha thanks mate! :)

  • thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :)

  • nice one :) i like the way u play piano :)

  • Thank you Nat :)

    I'm glad you like it!

I see you're a bit of an Elvis fan..lol He was pretty good wasn't he!

    Do you play an instrument?

    Cam :)

  • Keep it up pal! You are great! This really motivates me to start practicing boogie too!

  • Hey Julian,

    That's fantastic! That's what I like to hear :D

You start practising mate...trust me, you'll get there if you just keep at it!

    Thanks for the compliments

    Cam :)

  • Hey sorry I cannot understand what you are saying. Do you speak English?

  • Interesting piano you are playing on.

by the way good job ;)

  • Hey I can't speak French but i do recognise that word! :D

    Thank you very much

    Cam :)

  • far out Cam, you sure can play!!!!

    -Michelle

  • Hey thanks Michelle! Your bro's pretty awesome on his bike by the way :O

    Cam :)

  • That kicks ass! Is that the traditional left hand for it? It looks different for some reason. I like it.

  • Thanks! It's not quite the original left hand, just a variation.

  • The left hand is C C Eb-A C E-G C F-A G

    Good luck :)

  • you sound amazing!..just got to move to this!

  • Haha..thanks mate!

    Glad you like it :)

  • Hey thanks mate :D

  • My God, I wish I could play like this. :(

  • Well keep at it and you can, it took me a while but I made it :)

  • where did you find the sheet music

  • it is my honor :]

  • lol :)

  • with the power enthrusted upon me as king edward the 9th i dub thee king of jazz and blues everyone bow to Elvis the 2nd second

  • Lol wow thanks mate! :D :D

  • Wonderful job =] Now if only I could play like that...

  • Lol thanks mate...well if you keep practicing you can only get better :)

  • =] Yeah... well unfortunately I don't play Boogie Woogie styled music =P I play classical. But maybe someday soon I'll want to play more than just that.

  • That was absolutely fantastic. I've just got the sheet music for this myself, but I doubt I'll be able to play it yet. I stopped playing piano for about 6 months, and starting again recently, I've realised that I've lost all dexterity, especially on tremelos and such. Still, I can't wait to have a go at this!

  • Thanks! :D

Good on you for starting again...have fun and don't give up -you'll get there!

    Cam :)

  • Great; really great! I've been really interested in Boogie, myself. I'll look for some sheet music for this; it's a really rockin' tune!

  • man you're awesome!

    hail your left hand! lol

    melbpride

  • Lol thanks mate! :D

Hey I noticed that you live somewhere in Australia and your name sort of suggests that you live in Melbourne?

I live in Melbourne too in Box Hill.

Do you play boogie woogie/blues at all on any sort of instrument?

If so maybe we could meet up because I've been struggling to find anyone in Australia who plays this style of music.

    Let me know!

    Cam :)

  • hey cam know of any good piano shops in eastern suburbs.i looked at 2 at bernies in vermont but want to look at more b4 i buy.

  • Hey, what are you looking for? An electric keyboard or an acoustic piano?

I wouln't get anything from bernies, they're too expensive!

Allans music is probably the best for acoustic piano's. I got my keyboard one from Manny's. Awave is also good for keyboards. Allans range of keyboards is not bad also.

By the way I didn't know you live close by...where abouts do you live?

    Cam :)

  • i've put one on reserve at bernies but have yet to put any cash down.1760$ i'm not yet convinced am lookong for something to compare it with.they told me there was no other place for second hand acoustics in the east.i live in east burwood.

  • Oh ok yeah bernies has a lot of good old 2nd hand piano's

If you're looking for second hand piano's bernies is probably the best other than the trading post.

  • Far too much Boogie-ing and not nearly enough woogie-ing. Just kidding. This is awsome man. You and Eeco are the Albert and Pete of this time.

  • Lol :D Thanks mate!!

Yeah I wish I could meet up with Eeco one day and play some Boogie Woogie! :D

  • Well mine holds its tune quite well for an old piano, about once a year. How old is your piano and what brand? It sounds quite good in your video.

  • No problem :]

Oof. Just needs some dedication then.

    Thank you :] x

  • Fantastic, I'm learning this at the moment!

How long did it take you to learn?

  • Thanks Ali! :D

Took me about 3 weeks or so...doesn't mean I could play it this well in 3 weeks...have to practise lots

Good luck, you can do it!

    Cam :)

  • Man, i've never commented on a youtube vid before, merely admired from afar.

This is the most mindblowingly awesome thing i have ever seen.

  • And I'm delighted to be the reciever of your first comment! :D

    Thanks for the compliment mate!!

I noticed on your profile your from Australia (same as me), where abouts are you??

    Cam :)

  • I'm from NSW,

totally inspired to start learning songs again, well, after uni exams.

  • Good on you, you should post some vids too when you've learnt some songs :)

I'm from Melbourne, Victoria by the way

    Cam :)

  • Good job! I'd also like to comment on your piano - the action is much different than mine. Do you know its age?

  • Thanks! :D

Yeah the action probably looks different because of the over-damper system (almost all other piano's have under-damper). I think it's about 100 or 120 years old or something.

    Cam :)

  • This is awesome. It sounds and looks like a note for note version of A. ammon's Boogie Woogie Stomp

  • Thanks mate! :D

It's not perfect - I had to modify the last section because it was too hard but now I can play it authentically because I've been practising :)

    Cam :)

  • Yeah. When I put dashes "-" in between the notes for eg. C-E-G-C I mean play them together. When I have spaces between the notes I mean play them seperately.

  • Oh ok, fair enough..lol

  • Good on you!

I don't really play anywhere locally, I might play at the blues jam coming up. I do go to Swinburne Uni...but you don't live in Australia do you? Your profile says Azerbaijan?

  • Well it's a bit hard to explain.

I'd describe it as a "jumping" chorded bass played like C-E-G-C G-C A-C-E-A E-A G-B-D-G D-G E-G-B-E B-E C-E-G-C....and so on. Once you try and play it at the speed, control and effortlessness as Ammons did you will understand how hard it is!

Lots of people simplify it by turning it into a "walking" chorded bass played like: C-E-G C A-C-E A....and so on.

    Cam :)

  • pure musical genious. you sir, have tremendous talent =)

  • Thanks Ryan!! :D

  • lol...Keep at it, you'll get there!

    Cam :)

  • Hi, You're good. I can't quite pick out the left hand pattern. What is it? Thanks.

  • Thanks! :)

    The left hand is C C Eb-A C E-G C F-A G

    Good luck!

    Cam :)

  • you nice

  • Thanks mate! :)

  • Thanks for the advise! :)

I'll give it a go and start practising.

btw, do you play boogie woogie? If you do you should post some vids!

    Cam :)

  • It's hard to believe that you are 19 years. What a tremendous talent you are. I often think that a resurgance of boogie woogie music would put everyone into a happier frame of mind. Please post more of your GREAT videos. Thank you

  • Wow thanks a lot!! :D

You know I agree with you about a resurgance of boogie woogie music. I don't mean to put any style of music down, and there are many exceptions, but to me the general musical consensus these days is to wallow in self-pitty...boogie woogie dosen't, it's designed to make you jive as an instict. Bob Seely describes boogie as 'happy blues', it's meant to make you feel happy.

Anyway thanks for the compliments, I will try to post some more vids soon.

    Cam :)

  • (sorry had to split the reply in 2)

That's very nice of you to offer to be my agent - I never thought a few videos on youtube just for fun would lead to this!

I do have one friend who plays in a band. I'm not sure if she has any recording equipment though.

That's one problem in Australia - not many people who play Boogie Woogie that I can hook up with. Because I would really love to do some jamming but can't find anyone to play with!!

    Cam :)

  • Unfortunately I don't have any plans to go to the US soon. I'm 19 and have just started university and don't have much money. I would like to travel though - I just don't think I'm ready yet.

  • ithis plesure to have youtube and boogie woogie

  • Thanks! :D

Yeah youtube is great, I agree

    Cam:)

  • Oh yes, I come back often here! ;-)

19 years old? Australian? 74 Rover?

You, sir, are the future of Boogie Woogie!

  • Lol...thanks Paul!

I should put a vid of my Rover up one day!

    Cam :)

  • devcar. Check out freakyhead20 at YouTube. He is also a great boogie woogie player, and in his video lesson 'Left hand boogie slow' he will show how he plays the Boogie Woogie Stomp left hand in slow motion.

  • great!!! could you tell me what the left hand pattern is?

    is it C-G C Eb E C-G C-G C-A C-G ???

  • Thanks Ayolt!! :D

    The left hand is: C C Eb-A C E-G C F-A G

    Cam :)

  • Thanks!! :D

  • This is a very good performance! One of those to listen to over and over again. And I'm sure You'll nail down the hard-to-play, and omitted, chorded bass in the later part. You have the required technical level to do that.

  • Thanks! :D Yeah I'll get there with the chorded bass, I might even have to simplify it a little

    Cam :)

  • Hey Cam dude,

great performance there. I'm gettin' ahead with it myself (also got Boogie Woogie Stomp as sheet music). I'm trying to learn that chorded walking bass, and it's getting better, even it's friggin' hard. I love this piece by ammons, and I think it's cool that you can play it all. Cool control, good technique (told ya before). Keep playing man!

    Lasse

  • Thanks Lasse! :D

I can't wait to see your version - I haven't seen anyone who can do the chorded bass like Ammons.

    Cam :)

  • Yeah probably his best I think :)

    Cam

  • oh ok!! its relli cool u play with such control!! is there anyway to buy the sheet music singulary???Lisa

  • Is it me or is that a piece Jools Holland plays!??!
