And the concerto ends with the very same chord that it all started with. IMO, this concerto is just as good as and in some ways, more exciting than the Beethoven violin concerto. Not only do I believe that this is the best recording of this concerto ever made, but this is one of the greatest recordings of any concerto ever made.

my teacher told me Leonid Kogan never played those one bow stoccatos( where you play those multiple stocatos in one bow)..... it sounds very similar to it though...

He did not control the staccato entirely when he was younger, but I've been told he practiced it during 10 hours a day for like 3 months and he got it, even though I don't think i'm accurate.
oh yes absolutely, just the 3rd movmt is really extra special. btw listen to zino francescatti's recording - i think you will love it. in fact i'll send you the link
I think every time I listen Kogan play this concert here I want to post a praise...But this one goes to you ultimateviolin! Thanks a lot for sharing this treasury w us all!

Even though we know relatively little about "ever", it's probably fair to say that Leonid Kogan was the greatest violinist EVER.

Kogan = resurrection of Paganini
I believe Kogan is here in our human history, to give us a chance to listen to the original interpretation of Paganini himself.

Its is simply not fair to the rest of us mortals that a human being can play the violin like this. Beyond words.

Incredibly good... Actually, I should kill myself now, for there is nothing left to experience that could be any more beautiful than that. ;)
Thanks a lot, UltimateViolin
