the tires are 1/3 the size, equalling 1/3 the speed...even getting them to hook up at 100kmh is nearly impossible, they must be so hot the tire usually just blows out 3/4 way down the track

It's not because the tires are smaller, that he's used the same chainwheels.

I have a Yamaha XS400 kart (vids on profile) that does the same speed as the original bike (90mph). I have a 18 teeth rear chainwheel, not an 42 teeth chainwheel like on the bike.

the size of the tires does matter, its called traction.say you have a cart on 12'" tires with a 23 tooth sprocket, thats pretty much equivalent to a bnike with a 180/50 tire and 45 tooth sprocket, but you still wont have near the amount of traction. not even close.these bike engine carts arent really all that fast until they hook up a 250 would probly smoke it, a 1000 is no faster than a 600 until it finally hooks up 100+mph in 5th gear..the massive burnouts just give the ilusion of beign fast.

@lsvtec91 How could you be disappointed is a 12.2 second kart? YOU try to drive that thing at over 100mph and see how your arms (and your brain from the extreme concentration) stand up. Thats the thing about the internet, its so easy to see a 9 second run.. everybody expects 9's.

Nice job tho dude w/ the kart. I'd be scared running 14 second 1/4's, 2 inches from the ground!
