Ohio State dominated this game defensively for about 3 and a half qtrs.
The defense was on the field for nearly the entire second half because how shitty the coaching on the offensive side was. This eventually led to USC's game winning drive.
There must be a change, whether mentally or Jim Tressel or the OC's actual replacement it must be done.
I am a big OSU fan and this is gonna catch alot of flack for this, and it will probably recieve about 150 "thumbs down", but im gonna say it. couldnt agree more. I really dont know what hes doing sometimes. Sometime is ULTRA conservative when he needs to be aggressive and take a chance to win a ball game and sometime aggressive when he needs to be conservative. For instance before the half on 3rd and 3 throwing a 50 bomb when Pryor cant complete a pass more than 2 yards. Right there you run the ball if you get the first then be aggressive if not you run alot of clock off and usc doesnt get that game tieing field goal.
You also saw the difference between Tressel and Carrol when USC went for it on 4th and goal and scored a TD. When Tressel was in the same exact situation he opted for a field goal. It was definitely a conservative move that ended up burning him in the end.
ya, i would like to see the bucks get a coach that has a killer instinct like Carroll or Urban Meyer. Someone that actually knows how to run an offense and can smell blood in the water and take a team down when the oportunity is givin.
this ohio state game was like last years texas fiesta bowl game. ohio state deserved to win but couldnt pull away. osu had 2 chances to score TDs at the goalline but blew it. same with texas, they kicked field goals, shut down mccoy except that ONE drive. osu shut down mcknight and usc and kept them within the 20 yard line all night except ONE drive. the buckeyes need to learn to finish drives. at least get a real offensive coordinator.

jim tressell knows wxactly what type of player he got in the sophmore pryor. he got a running quarterback who can throw a little bit. The problem is that tressell in his insufferable arrogance never felt like he had to change his play calling system to fit pryor a little better. So they got spanked saturday and they will continue to lose when teams like Usc shut down the Qb run option and tressell doesent adjust his plays. Hell toledo dropped 50 on colorado they may lose next week too!!
man it was a good game, a good defensive battle, but USC showed more heart than ohio state did, thats why we walked away with the WIN, the sad part is that if QB was a little more matured in the game we would have put up more points his throwing game was not that great on some drives where USC could have had more yards. but it was in one of the most hostile environments and USC won, SC had more heart than any of the buckeyes and it showed.
Yeah, Barkley right now is pretty much the Trent Dilfer of NCAA football. The OC is holding back with him and just asking him to not make mistakes. He made a few this game and his passing was pretty poor but man that says a lot about our defense and also says a lot about Barkley's dedication to doing what the coaches want of him.

ok if ohio state sends carter on a fly and sends the number 2 wr on a deep post and has the 3rd wr come acroos the middle, the safetys will be down field covering the deep ball. Ohio State needs to run the full spread offense like texas did. as for ohio state's defense kurt coleman and anderson russell are shut down safetys, but what will make the difference is our d line. I think thadeus gibson and doug worthington will pose a threat to that o line.
Ok Joe McKnight fumbles too much. I think he evn had 2 fumbles against San Jose State. If he fumbles against Ohio St, they will take advantage of it. All Pryor has to do is roll out and look for Carter deep. I don't think Mays can defend the deep pass. Even if Usc has the WRs covered, then all Pryor is goin to do is take off on the run just like Vince Young did in the Rose Bowl.
I think this year will be the first time in a long time that OSU offense is better then there defense. I think this year OSU will have a better chance in beating USC. It being in Columbus will help out a lot it will be wild up there in which I cant wait to venture up there. Vince Young was an anomaly, the best duel threat QB to ever play the college game. It will be tough for USC to win with a true Freshman at QB but I think it will be a close game. If Sanchez were still here it would be a blowout but I think that USC can pull it out especially if OSU plays like they did against Navy. I do think OSU has a great team this year though so it should be a close game.

Taylor mays is an awesume shut down run safety, but he is an average pass defender. If Ohio State can expose Mays, then he won't be able to play in the box and stop the run. Usc also strugles against scrambling Qbs. If you look at last year, Usc struggled against Pryor. Usc could only stop OSU when Boeckman was in.
How many times will Pryor actually scramble though? Mays is an average pass defender? He knocks the SHIT out of WRs and makes them afraid to come his way. Barkley won't have to do much because last year their RBs ran all over OSU. Joe Mcknight had a crazy ass YPC average against them last year.

in offense usc started with Barkley fr ( the focal point to the offense )and a new starting WR and 1 OL . On Defense USC played with new 1 DE , 3 NEW LB and 1 starting CB . As I don't wish for Michigan to beat Ohio State I do wish for a coaching staff change to be made or just for Jim Tressel to get his head out of his ass.
Ohio State dominated this game defensively for about 3 and a half qtrs.
The defense was on the field for nearly the entire second half because how shitty the coaching on the offensive side was. This eventually led to USC's game winning drive.
There must be a change, whether mentally or Jim Tressel or the OC's actual replacement it must be done.

couldnt agree more. I really dont know what hes doing sometimes. Sometime is ULTRA conservative when he needs to be aggressive and take a chance to win a ball game and sometime aggressive when he needs to be conservative. For instance before the half on 3rd and 3 throwing a 50 bomb when Pryor cant complete a pass more than 2 yards. Right there you run the ball if you get the first then be aggressive if not you run alot of clock off and usc doesnt get that game tieing field goal.

You also saw the difference between Tressel and Carrol when USC went for it on 4th and goal and scored a TD. When Tressel was in the same exact situation he opted for a field goal. It was definitely a conservative move that ended up burning him in the end.

this ohio state game was like last years texas fiesta bowl game. ohio state deserved to win but couldnt pull away. osu had 2 chances to score TDs at the goalline but blew it. same with texas, they kicked field goals, shut down mccoy except that ONE drive. osu shut down mcknight and usc and kept them within the 20 yard line all night except ONE drive. the buckeyes need to learn to finish drives. at least get a real offensive coordinator.

jim tressell knows wxactly what type of player he got in the sophmore pryor. he got a running quarterback who can throw a little bit. The problem is that tressell in his insufferable arrogance never felt like he had to change his play calling system to fit pryor a little better. So they got spanked saturday and they will continue to lose when teams like Usc shut down the Qb run option and tressell doesent adjust his plays. Hell toledo dropped 50 on colorado they may lose next week too!!

man it was a good game, a good defensive battle, but USC showed more heart than ohio state did, thats why we walked away with the WIN, the sad part is that if QB was a little more matured in the game we would have put up more points his throwing game was not that great on some drives where USC could have had more yards. but it was in one of the most hostile environments and USC won, SC had more heart than any of the buckeyes and it showed.

Johnsons first "TD" really wasn't a TD. Take a look from the sideline view if you get a chance. The ball was in his right arm. His knee goes down with his right arm back behind the line. ok if ohio state sends carter on a fly and sends the number 2 wr on a deep post and has the 3rd wr come acroos the middle, the safetys will be down field covering the deep ball. Ohio State needs to run the full spread offense like texas did. as for ohio state's defense kurt coleman and anderson russell are shut down safetys, but what will make the difference is our d line. I think thadeus gibson and doug worthington will pose a threat to that o line.

Ok Joe McKnight fumbles too much. I think he evn had 2 fumbles against San Jose State. If he fumbles against Ohio St, they will take advantage of it. All Pryor has to do is roll out and look for Carter deep. I don't think Mays can defend the deep pass. Even if Usc has the WRs covered, then all Pryor is goin to do is take off on the run just like Vince Young did in the Rose Bowl.

I think this year will be the first time in a long time that OSU offense is better then there defense. I think this year OSU will have a better chance in beating USC. It being in Columbus will help out a lot it will be wild up there in which I cant wait to venture up there. Did you think Ohio State would beat thug U in 2003? What makes this so impossible then? USC's legitimate losses have all come to teams with AMAZING duel threat QBs--Texas and Oregon. Vince Young was an anomaly, the best duel threat QB to ever play the college game. It will be tough for USC to win with a true Freshman at QB but I think it will be a close game. If Sanchez were still here it would be a blowout but I think that USC can pull it out especially if OSU plays like they did against Navy. I do think OSU has a great team this year though so it should be a close game.

Ok how about a freshmen qb playing in his first big time game on the road. Barkley will be rattled like every freshmen qb would. Taylor mays is an awesume shut down run safety, but he is an average pass defender. If Ohio State can expose Mays, then he won't be able to play in the box and stop the run. Usc also strugles against scrambling Qbs. If you look at last year, Usc struggled against Pryor. Usc could only stop OSU when Boeckman was in.

Joe McKnight has had fumble trouble the last few years and he had another in our very easy opener. Our freshman quaterback had nerves during a home game. If you want to say something about the Navy game, dont because USC is no where as the same as Navy's style of play on offense so you really cant even say that OSU sucked on D, its because they have never faced anything similar.

everyone new it would be tought because the triple option is just to tought to handle
just like Oregon State agaisnt USC last year. The Beavers ran all over them. i actually think this will be a good game not noo blowout like others expect. But in the end ohio state prevails, just to much momentum up there in the horseshoe. i dont know about you guys but i will be at this game. Bought these tickets last year hahahah

Any one notice that (21) Anderson Russel gave up the only 2 passing Tds last year vs USC. That guy is a fucking joke. Its unbelievable that this guy still has a job after losing the texas game for OSu giving up the game winning TD and almost costing OSU the Navy Game. That guy is going to get Jim Tressel fired single handedly. He is fucking terrible.

not the way OSU played against the Navy today. Agreed Navy was tougher than SJSU but the O-line and the D-line coordinators can't harness talent. If OSu can't open up a running lane against the Navy, we're screwed against USC's D line. Why isn't Pryor passing yet?

Prior is playing with a bunch of freshman recruits- some who have a lot of speed.
Barkley is looking good and McKnight is fierce. OSU will be disappointingly outcoached next week, our O-line has the talent to go up against USC's D-line. The play calling won't allow that to happen. USC will get their W, but it's going to be a boring game.

in offense usc started with Barkley fr ( the focal point to the offense )and a new starting WR and 1 OL . On Defense USC played with new 1 DE , 3 NEW LB and 1 starting CB . But your right , i honeslty do think TP is going to be great player once he gets more weapons .I think the score is going to be closelike u said cuz i know TP is taking it personal . With that being said its going to be a good game from TP .
