  • i've heard this about 20 times. and every time i don't understand. HOW IN HELL can he play better than a singer. HOW??? MIND = BLOWN!

  • You know, I'm not sure where I can find the sheets for this piece and I've wanted to play it for a while.

  • This is really the pinnacle of piano playing

  • a melodic line played by the piano that can express so much more than what was intended for a voice....you know, this is a second-time revelation. Some things perhaps can really not be put into words without corrupting it.

  • truly one of the most vocal pianists ever, along with Moiseiwitsch, Lipatti, Cortot, Arrau, Cherkassky and Rubinstein. you know it when you feel the meaning and message of a song

  • this is simply unreal.

  • The miller is talking to the brook about his broken heart.

The brook tries to comfort him.

  • Hello truecrypt ! Thank you very much for this video ! Vladimir Sofronitsky is my favorite pianist ! Do you have another songs by Schubert-Liszt ?

  • Sofronitsky's playing has a sense of eternity...time doesn't stop, but continues into the past and into the future...it's been there forever and will be there forever...maybe that's the inner heaven we each seeks.

  • Bravo! Exactly what I feel!

  • There were not too many (if any at all) Bosendorfers neither in Moscow Conservatory nor in recording studios or concert halls. It's probably pre-war made Steinway or Bechstein.

  • Hello !

This is a Petrov of course !

  • And Richter said Sofronitsky was a god. Now I understand why.

  • @antinorest Richter was one of the few artists who recognized other talents. He also admired Annie Fischer.

and for very good reasons!!!! True artists are very rare.

  • Lovely! Bravo! TY.

  • I don't know if this is a good new, but I begun again to study and play piano (after 15 years of silence) discovering these Sofronitzky recordings. These recordings and

a Pogorelich concert, to be honest.

  • WHere could I find the score for this amazing transcription...?it's one of the very few I cannot find :( weird

  • Hello, you can find it in:Liszt Piano Works-Free Arrangements VII

    Editio Musica Budapest (Z. B 12 396)

    Enjoy...

  • thank you,I have found it now...

  • Unlike his other fabulous performances,he seems to be more involved in the music than the expression. Here he doesn't have "all the time in the world"...sadly.

  • What I like most was his splaying of the parts into an obscuration of the beat from

    2:17 until 2:50.
