  • THEY HAVE HACKED LIFE!

  • @ihatenoobs1230 Science: Hacking life since our earlier ancestors figured out how to use tools :P

  • fuckin awesome

  • Congratulations, you just learned how synthesizers work.

  • Science Is Cool.

By Universal Law, Should be part of our daily feed.

We would be a smarter planet by default.

  • すげーー!

  • The only thing wrong with this video is the trash guitar cover of Moonlight Sonata.

  • @TheExistingFilms

Just a helix shape that appears when your mind plays tricks on you.

And physics describes the whole Universe, Biology is part of that.

  • Were the lengths of the strings random or did you use mathematics? Would a single string accomplished the same thing?

  • @186kms

You can use Mathematics if you want to:

    T ~ 2*pi*(L/g)^1/2

    where:

T = the period of each pendulum

L = length of string holding it

    g = Gravitational Acceleration

Buuuut as long as you have them equally spaced in length then it'll still give you the pattern.

i.e. the string holding the weight gets longer by the same amount each time.

That way all the nice resonances will show up :D

  • What's this song called?

  • Staring at the 8 ball gave it all a 3D effect for me

  • Cool

  • bye

  • sex

  • 😱

  • cool!

  • This song should NOT be played on an electrical guitar! It made it sound like some junky rock band's horrible playing.

  • INFINITY \o/

  • Wow Thumbs Up. BUILD IT BIGGER.

  • q pasaa

  • I AM MIND RAPED!!!

  • Very cool visual effect.

    But I wonder...

If you added the cue ball (for a 16th), and the sampled each ball's position enough times, what the result might sound like as a waveform when played back.

  • so you demonstrated something already understood and provable with a pencil, some paper, and a handful of equations. bravo citadel physics department. i rolled a red rubber kickball down a hill and called it a thesis.

... ramblin wreck from georgia tech.

  • i swear i see the creation of life itself in the waves...

  • i cried

  • what is this witch craft?!?!?

  • @JesseMusicc BURN IIITTTT!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I was like...=O

  • 6 people can't afford billiard balls

  • that is so cool

  • moonlight with beautiful guitar

  • how do the balls swing for so long...?

  • MInd = Blown.

  • Why does this song reminds me at metallica? ;D

  • watching this high az fuck... wooooaaaahhhhh!!!!!!

  • would this make me trip if i was high

  • @GxKaM1KaZ3xZ it is making me trip dude

  • the whole time i was watching this i was like wtf!!!!!

  • the wyole time i was watching this i was like wtf!!!!!

  • do you have any formulars that you could show me to help me to build one of these at home. or could you durect me to some websites that could help.

  • MIND. BLOWN.

  • Make a video of the effect under a strobe light

  • I love physics!

  • Ballocks!

  • Wow it's amazing how simple physics is so captivating.

  • That is awesome

  • awesome

  • if i think balls are cool does that make me gay!!!!

  • Cool

  • UNBELIEVABLE!

  • this is causing me motion sickness

  • Nice Moonlight ;)

  • This is a great analogy for humans as well. Not all of us resonate and move at the same speed. Sometimes we are all in synch and sometimes we are moving to the beat of our own drummer. Wonderful exercise. Thanks.

  • The 8 ball is slightly out of adjustment.

  • yahh, awesome song!

  • Coooooooolllll!!!!

  • i wonder what those notes sound like, anyone know what harmonic variation this oscillation would be

  • The triple wave pattern is easier to see here:

  • Half the comments are about the music. You have a mute button.

  • Great idea to use common objects like billiard balls! Makes it a, what I call, educational art object. Well done!

  • I'm not a fan of this version of Moonlight Sonata.

  • Should have gone some Propane Nightmares in that :V

  • your website link does not work ?

  • thus, beethoven rolls over in his grave.. yuck.

  • squint your eyes :)

  • The 8 ball's a little out of tune

  • @eyescreamcake Must've been too busy playing pocket pool. :)

  • Is it possible to get building plans for this pendulum?

It looks absolutely amazing and I would love to make one myself. :O)

  • This almost ruined Moonlight Sonata for me....that was awful..

  • I too would like to know what song that was! =D I wanted to hear more of it actually lol

  • that black is too high

  • Hypnotized!

  • you have a lot of chutzpah at citadel

  • you have a lot of chutzpah at citadel

  • Music reminded me of "Elegia R." by New Order.

    Great video!

  • This is a primitive example of John Whitney's Differential Dynamics which he uses in his computer films. With the help of Mike Tusch and Dave Snowdon I have developed a harmonic maths on the shoulders of Whitney's principle which we call harmonic maths, which I used to generate music for Pete Townshend's Lifehouse-Method music project. With 30,000 points calculated in realtime the points go much further than double and triple!!! see my lawrenceball org site

  • This is the most dramatic depiction of balls swinging I have ever seen.

  • one douchebag doesn't like science! get him!

  • @raidensreturn hahaha

  • where can I buy that?

  • @MRevolution44 just make one your self...its not that hard simply look up the plans online im sure someone has posted their own version...or just start from scratch and play with it and tweak it to be perfect.

  • This wave pendulum actually has three distinct patterns; the single wave and the double wave are pretty obvious- but if you look closely you can see a 'triple-wave' pattern that forms in between the single and double wave patterns. The patterns become less distinct however as the pendulum masses slow down (this particular wave pendulum needs to be more exact- we have to tweak it every now and again)

  • how many phases?

  • reddit

  • balls

  • That's absolutely hypnotic!

  • Awesome music. Got any information on it? Sounds like an electric guitar version of Moonlight Sonata.

  • Comment removed

  • @MaxPowerzs

The artist is Dan Sindel(mentioned in the credits.)

Here is a link to it:

    dansindel(dot)com/musicvault/demo/moonlight_sonata(dot)mp3

Apparently he plays a lot of symphonic music for electric guitars.

  • @MaxPowerzs it is

  • @MaxPowerzs it is moonlight sonata...

  • @SparhawkGT But who's covering it? Anyone smart enough to appreciate this vid will already know it's Moonlight Sonata...

  • @MaxPowerzs thats what it is... make sure you get the right movement..

  • @MaxPowerzs indeed. It is.

  • @MaxPowerzs It is.

  • cool!
