  • What do you mean by true Goddess...

  • It's like asking which color is better, blue or green?

  • melody queen asha bhosle sings better at 74 years than melody queen lata mangeshkar sang at 54 years of age ! at least in this rendition. Asha ji is so frightening. what detailing and with such clarity ! maybe she is true Goddess

  • Emotions cant be expressed any better !!!!

  • Well, there is no need to compare Lata and Asha , they are excellent in their own individual styles bringing out their own shades of meaning. I wish the movie used both the versions , may be Asha on Sharmila and Lata on Amrita, it would have made another dimension and colour.

  • GOD BLESS BOTH..THEY MADE INDIA PROUD ..WE LOVE YOU BOTH

  • What a great video. Thanks so much for this awasome mix of 2 versions and the wonderful photographs. THe debate will go on... but you have made us so happy with this video. Thanks again.

  • lov thiz song

  • They are so great!!!!The two angellike sisters!!!

  • With all due respect to evryone commenting here: lets not compare Asha Ji and Lata Ji. We just simply dont have the rights too. They are both messenger of God.

  • India is so blessed to have two superb sisters who sang like angels. Their voices brought tears, joy, pain, peace and most importantly the love and beauty of India in all languages they had sung in.

  • Asha is far superior. I know it's a politically incorrect thing to say. but that's the truth.

There's a depth and character to her voice that's lacking in Lata's. Lata is good but in a superficial frothy way.

  • @vithalrukmai : I agree with you..

  • u ve done a gr888 job....both are gr888888888888888

  • @anwechand : thanks..

  • wow thats so nice

  • @classicmusic1000 : Give me a good reason why i will listen to you, that Lataji is incomparable..& no one can question abt it ?

You are the first person who tells me Lataji is versatile..

I have been in many debates, seminars & also have gone to different countries..

All my experience says that Ashaji is The Most Versatile Artist ever produced by GOD..

Do you know Americas WORLD RECORD ACADEMY IS RESEARCHING IN WHAT EXTENT ASHAJI IS VERSATILE TILL DATE ??

  • I agree with Jayant. There is not even room for comparison here. These are the two most ethereal gifts India possesses in the field of fine arts...

  • No two things are comparable. So do not spoil your energy and get your egos hurt. One is copy book of rules of singing and a out-of-the-world voice and other has the ability to turn every object in to gold she touches. Both are exilerting. We Indians are blessed with these voices no any computer or live person can produce ever ! I feel at heaven before actually reaching there, what an abode ! !

  • For this song I must say Ashaji sang better. But also al of us should keep in mind - remaking is easier than the first time singing. I think Lataji sang for movie, she did not have freedom to show her talents and Ashaji got the freedom to sing showing all her talents. Bengali version 'Chokhe Naame Bristi' is also sung by Ashaji.

  • @nasim329506 : well i think it is not about freedom, it is about style of singing..

Lataji is Great but lacks different style's of singing..

But, Ashaji got awesome different ways of singing..& that is why she is called The Most Versatile Artist..

Anyways, i don't hv any right to say on the Great Pillars of India ( Lataji & Ashaji )..

    Thanks 4 listening..

  • Amitava, I think all of us have full right to express our feeling on singing by even Lataji & Ashaji. For Ghajals and dance numbers Ashaji surely sings better than Lataji but for easy listening romantic numbers I will vote for Lataji. Did you hear the audio album 'Sraddhanjali' by Lataji. I am sure everyone will agree that Lataji kept her sign of unique creation keeping the full flavour of original songs. Anyone, please advise correction if I am wrong. Thank you again, Amitava, my friend.

  • @nasim329506 : Thanks 4 sharing ur views..

But i would like to say something dat, we pay money to buy many things for GOD..

But, will it be right to say anything on GOD..

My point is dat Lataji & Ashaji are very close 2 GOD by their respective devotion of singing..

We may share our views , bt we do not hav RIGHTS 2 say anything..

They are very big infront of us..they are God's Gift for us..

I hope u will understand my point...

Anyways, we may continue our debate through messages..

    Thanks

  • I agree with you dear Amitava. Thanks for your comments.

  • asha tai is da best, n lata didi too

  • @bagelboyindia : Thanx 4 listening..

  • at 74 she almost excelled Latajee............

  • @Rmehtacpa - I don't know who expelled whom..

But, i think Ashaji's version much better.. because she sang bringing out the meaning of the lyrics LIVE... She also have awesome KASHISH & EMOTIONAL tone in her voice in this Age too..

  • Great people of the world

  • Asha is definitely the more versatile singer among two.. Asha also has "khanak" in her voice besides being more versatile, but there are certain songs which I believe Lata sang really well for "mann kyu behka" from Utsav in that I feel real confidence in Lata's voice and Asha is also good in that song but Lata is much better. But sometimes Lata lacks emotions in song for example even though Lata's song from Lekin "suniyo ji" is very popular I dont feel any emotions in that song and dont like it.

  • Many thanks for listening & commenting..

  • meant ot give it 5 stars and hit 2 by mnistake how do u go back and correct it I love this version it is beautiful

  • Ratings cannot be changed..

    Anyways thanks for liking..

  • Very Nice Said & thanks for listening the compilation..

  • 1st of all all praise to Asha ji for courage to take Lata-ji s immortal song like and give a different version. She knew that people will compare more severely as they are sisters and she gave a different feel to the song.

having said that, one should remember that Lataji recorded the song in presence of RD burman and according to his wish. where as Asha ji had the liberty to experiment of her own with already a superb song.

both are fantastic and we are no one to compare.

  • Very Very Well Said..

  • Asha's version is better, more emotion in it.

  • I totally agree with You..

  • To do an equal comparison, listen to Asha ji's bengali version of this song - Chokhe name brishti !

  • Nice said..!!

But the thing you have to notice is that ASHAji sang this HINDI version at 74years..

  • A good posting. Thanks. Both sisters are entertaining the people in thier best way. I like both of them but the music critcs put Lata Mangeshkar higher than Asha Bhosley and they must have technical reasons behind it. Let us appreciate both of them and enjoy the music. Ashaji is more entertaining and interactive by nature which pleases the audience in live shows where as Lataji is more conservative. Both are great in thier own places. Thanks again for posting this incredible song .

  • Asha's inflexion has something of the "restless" in it, very appropriate for these lyrics. Her way of emphasising certain syllables is very appealing. A really appealing sound. Lata's version is just deeply, deeply spiritual. She is like the Ustad. What can I say? Either way, it's an amazing composition!

  • asha's voice has a "kashish" where as Lata's has a ethreal feel to it

  • Hi friend excellent job. Both sisters are blessed by Maa Saraswati what els can i say. I am a hardcore fan of Asha tai. I wish u all the best.

    JAI MATA DI

  • Hi friend excellent job.

Both sisters are blessed by Maa Saraswati what els can i say.

I am a hard core fan of Asha tai.

    Wis u all the best.

    Jai mata di

  • great job dear..... you are a genious....

  • Great Job done ! excellent...

Thanks a million for uploading such a precious treasure.

  • Thanks a TON. Good job bud. Nice compilation. Where did you get all those pics from? Some were really rare.

Man aren't you a hard core fan? Fan all the way, fan way down to the bone.

This is also one of my most favourite Pancham's compositions. I know in your compilation you used Lata Didi's original version and Asha's part was from one of the recreated ones. Do know by any chance how old were they when they rendered their individual performance of this song?
