also may i add, their are better samba dancers then others! like in all dances..u could be watching a salsa dance..all of them 'clothed' and they can still be sh*t as hell...
I LOVE SAMBA, its beautiful, best energetic dance for me, i am dancer, i do samba/latin/flamenco/salsa,,,and i respect all forms of dance. whoever doesn't let them live in that foal world haha!!they are missing out :)
These girls fucking rock. Many of ya'll tend to forget that the GINGA makes the dancer a wonderful samba dancer. These girls got ginga and attitude. Forget arms and technique. Did they have technique hundreds of years ago? Samba is a derivative of the samba de roda but it seems like many of you "professional dancers" don't know that and if you love samba so much you would study it's roots. Show some respect and learn a thing or two.
There are many dances, in the world. And each dance may have it's own regional styles. But it's a waste of time to degrade someone's dance just becuase you don't like to do it. I honestly dislike ballroom, but I RESPECT the people who invest their time doing it. It is STILL thier art and they have invested their energies in something very beautiful.
I LOVE BRAZILIAN SAMBA. Always have. Always will. It is beautiful in my eyes and heart. I don't wrestle with what I dislike. I embrace what I do.
wow, a racist as well? whee brazilians are the best like omg, gag me with a spoon. race doesn't have anything to do with this, am I ranting and raving about how mexicans are just so amazing and awesome? no, that's not the goddamn point. get over yourself child. and if you didn't care what I thought about samba then you wouldn't have replied to my comment. and no it won't change anything, but your ranting and raving won't either.
Lia don't get me wrong when i call you a crazy bitch, that's actually a compliment, being a jealous brainless mexican like yourself must hard to watch the World from a different perspective! and Once again Yes Brazilian women are the Best, the others just try to be like them but they lack of a natural sexyness that Only Brazilian have! LOL
good argument, you're very persuasive and intelligent. i'd love to see you have a debate about something intelligent, because you wouldn't have one damn thing of importance, significance, OR relevance to say. insulting someone at an elementary level really changes their minds and makes them think about the thing being discussed in the first place. congratulations, you're a complete moron.
Sweetie! insulting is what the ballroom folks have done to Samba, there's nothing to do with the brazilian culture, which by the way you don't know anything about it to make such a stupid statement! get a Life and respect different cultures!
alright, I'll rephrase it: I really don't like this, I think it's ridiculous. honestly all they're doing is walking around, spinning, shaking their butts and swaying their arms. I really don't understand why it's called a dance, they're barely doing anything, much less anything that requires any effort. and no I don't know much about Brazilian culture but don't call me sweetie or tell me to get a life, when you're posting comments on youtube as well
Lia you're entitled to your own oppinion, I'm fine with that. Now yes that's a dance whether you like it or not, It's part of the culture! I also hate what the Ballroom folks have done with all the Latin dances, they murdered it but still calling,"Samba", Tango, Salsa etc. by the way brazilians are the most sexy and beautiful people in the World because they are not afraid of their sexuality nor their bodies!
Why don't you get to know a culture better before making stupid statements about something you don't even know? That's life, you say whatever you want to and you'll hear things maybe you don't like! That's called Freedom of speech! once again get your issues resolved and get a Life, Sweetie!
who said anything about ballroom in the first place? I didn't even mention it. don't decide to take out your ranting on me about what has been done to the latin dances in ballroom. I'm Mexican myself, and obviously that's not Brazilian, but I LOVE the sexiness and attitude brought by talented dancers to the floor. but personally brazilian samba for whatever reason fails to show any of this. whatever, it is what it is.
don't be stupid and be bringing personal insults into an discussion/debate/whatever about dance, telling me to get my issues resolved. and don't go on an anti-ballroom rant, and especially one about how Brazilian people are the best in the world because no one wants to hear that racial superiority crap. take a chill pill. I don't care if you don't agree with me or not, learn how to have a real debate and stop being a dumbass
Wow, you really hurt my deepest feelings by acting like a prozac problematic lady! get over yourself, i don't give a shit what you like or think about samba! your lame oppinion will not change anything anyway!! get over your issues and find your happines, because you sound bitter and frustrated! bye!
it's just comments, as in commentary. grow up. even if I were ugly and had no ass, which you wouldn't have any idea about, at least I'm not a racist, arrogant piece of work that can't even formulate a real argument. way to represent brazilians!
Hey crazy bich who told I am representing brazilians> I just gave my oppinion about them! I'm sure like all mexicans you have a tortilla face and a duck ass! get over yourself and take a double dose of your prozac! Ugly and fat people are very bitter and jealous! that's your problem! bye LOL
wow, you're so ignorant that it's really depressing me that people like you can exist. let's see, you have no idea what I look like at all, and mexicans have a really wide range of what they can look like, being racially mixed with aztecs, spaniards, etc. actually I'm thin, and people tend to think I'm a mixture of middle eastern/asian/eastern european because obviously I do not look like a typical "pancake" faced mexican, you idiotic ignorant racist shit.
I'm a dancer who's done a wide range of dances (no not just ballroom and latin, also flamenco, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, ballet) so I'm not completely talking out of my ass here. so yes, call me brainless, cuz obviously I don't have a clue about dancing. oh yes, I'm jealous of them and that's why I hate this dance -_- you're quite insightful. learn how to spell "bitch" and "opinion," since personal attacks and completely irrelevant things are the only way you know how to "discuss" things.
I'm surprised that you are a dancer based on some of your comments. Although you dislike Brazilian samba, it still disturbs your integrity as a dancer to disrepect the art of Brazilian Samba. It obviously has some monumental value since Ballroom dancers have adopted and evolved thier own interpretation of it. As dancers, we should respect other peoples' art -whether we practice it or not. What you've said about a dance that is centuries old is disrepectful and inappropriate.
I have to agree with Ruby on this one. I think that if you actually took the time to take a samba class, you'd be able to appreciate its intricacies & the physical demands it places on the bodies. It's got to be one of the best ways to lose weight because it's definitely a workout, & loads of fun. I'm not just saying it based on my personal biases as a samba competitor, but I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't like it after they try it. Looping doesn't make for a very good advocate.
I'm not really a fan of Brazilian samba [especially this performance of it] but I can understand that it's a workout and that one would have to work hard at the moves and such. I am a dancer, not a Brazilian samba dancer, but I know the work that goes into dance. I'm sure it's tough work and maybe I'll try it, but right now this isn't really encouraging me too. Loopy's ignorant babbling doesn't help either. whatever, it's just my opinion that this performance isn't very pleasing to the eye.
I totally agree. Anyone who has to make a judgement about samba based on this video can't be blamed for how she feels. The dancers lacked finesse and technique. Very disappointing. The arms are some of the worst I've ever seen in samba. I could go on picking at this video, but there is a character limit to these messages. I think you'd be interested to know that two of the best samba dancers I know are Mexican. They're Brazilian-trained and it shows. They are phenomenal. Interesting, isn't it?
There are many different styles of Brazilian dance, and even samba. With the similar samba styles seen here, it's very difficult to manage the syncopation of fast paced samba with heavy custumes, 6 inch platfom shoes, and still remain graceful without falling over, getting "off beat," or fainting from exhaustion. If you were a trained passista, you would experience the challenge. But if you don't have that experience, it's easy to judge the dance in the manner you do.
I understand how you feel about samba, but it's no reason to resort to using ethnic slurs and putting down an entire ethnicity of people just because they don't like samba. It reflects poorly on you as a Brazilian; and to be fair, if I had to judge samba based on this video, I wouldn't be impressed either. I've also seen you make awful comments about other dancers on other samba posts & wonder if you're even the least bit talented. Why don't you post a video of your own and back up your words?
habeshagyrlI80, you talk a lot of shit, I've been to Brazil too many times and i can assure that "NO ONE" can dance Samba like them, Brazilian women are hot, sexy and in good shape they can move their hips in a way that nobody can, so if you are not impresses by this video as well why don't you put a video of yourself dancing? you said you are a "Samba Competitot yourself" whatever that means I'd love to watch you.
oh well, there are a lot of people who try to be like Brazilians out there, Big Mistake, anyone can tell the difference LOL, Brazilian women are unique , besides they grow up dancing samba, that's why i love brazil they are full of energy, charismatic and friendly, did i mention "Gorgeous"?? American women are Fat,slobby, lazy and loud, but anyway if you are a samba 'Competitor" you should be able to dance samba right? let us all see how you look like, i hope you are hot, sexy and beautiful LOL
Let me just say first of all...meow. Jeez. And although I do not think it's a good or mature practice to treat people badly (even on the internet) Loop is right. I am a life long dancer, and like you, I thought Samba looked easy. I was wrong-you have to work very hard to keep your body meticulously aligned while presenting yourself with confidence and style. It's like aerobic belly dancing.
