  • The largest living thing on the planet...

  • every loggers dream..................

  • @dulardude luckily yu said "demacrate", so that means you're not baming democrats, you stupid republican

  • Where in America is this tree?

  • sadly it isn't as tall as it is thick on propotion. :/

  • @gradius55 it fell over recently. Your argument is now invalid

  • i was lucky enough to be there once

it was so amazing , the place is so calm and quiet , there were a bit of snow here and there .... lol. really enjoyed the stay

  • i was lucky enough to be there once

  • i want to see a liberal hug that tree!

  • It's not the tallest tree nor the oldest but it is the largest and heaviest living thing on earth I believe. A blue whale would be dwarfed somewhat.

  • It's the world's largest living thing as far as I know. It's so beautiful!

  • noi colosseo voi una pianta marcia!

  • @LegoWilly what the fuck are you going on about?

  • @LegoWilly ok mate, well considering the size of this tree i dont think its twigs would be that small yeah? at least my dick isn't made of lego.

  • WAOO!

  • I think it's ironic that there is a wood fence protecting the tree... That'd be like if you made a bone fence to protect a mummy..... lol tree looks impressive though!

  • Someone should burn that yankee generals tree down.

  • @cowboy8555

    Sherman > Atlanta

  • @flagshiponionhead allowed about 5 feet in front of it almost

  • 70% of the viewers for this video have never seen this tree. This tree.... Is fucking huge.

  • something that is 3,000 years old shouldnt be called "general sherman" that easily the fucking gayest thing ive ever heard, everyone here should blow their heads off including the people who made the video cuz youre definetly an asshole

  • here's how bad it is, you can't even make a video of a fucking tree

  • you shouldnt talk at all seriously, not even joking

  • It's older than America.......and stuff!

  • sherman*

  • general sgerman have 91 meters

  • I dun get it. What's wrong with this commentary? Did you expect it to read like the news? ==

  • amazing

  • When the biggest branch (6 feet in diameter, 100 feet long) fell off this tree in 2006, there was nobody around to hear it, so did it make a sound?

PS I think your commentary is just fine.

  • JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, that's a big tree.

  • Calm down its just my cock.

  • Its not that big

  • Alot of things is much older than america as a country:) like europe, asia and africa... Anyways im really looking forward to seeing it first hand. Its amazing

  • looks like my dick

  • @T1memaster if thats what yours looks like you might want to see the doctor...LOL

  • how old is it?

  • This tree is probably the most awesome (I know, I know, the word is over used, but this really IS awesome) thing I have ever seen. I sat on a bench about half a football field away, just looking up at it for about fifteen minutes with my jaw resting on my chest. It's ALIVE, and it's big enough to build hundreds of houses! Some stats: It's 36' in diameter at its base and 102' in circumference. Its lowest branches are 100' up, and it's top reaches 275 feet. It's as tall as a 27 story building!

  • is isnt big xD

  • Tree?

    That is no tree.

    That is an Ent.

  • respect for the tree +2500 years

  • The Great Deku Tree LOL !!!

  • who cares about his commentary? you watched the vid to see the tree, not hear a joke. that said, id love to go there one day myself looks beautiful

  • " older then America " ...houses here are older then America.. ALOT is really..

other then that good footage, thanks..

  • @zennized it's older than the Roman empire, lol. Its OLD, but beautiful one of a kind forest.

  • @goodfella21f Yea i was just quoting.. its a magnificent tree, love it

  • is there a bunch of NA'VI living in it ??? LOL

  • What an idiot...

  • i live you general sherman

  • i wonder if republicans would cut it down if they found an oil deposit underneath it?

  • @gradius55 yeah funny is it my imagination or is it not a stupid Demacrate wreching our country

  • gilaaaaa..

    so big ..

  • Good Vid. Good Commentry. Ignore other people what say it isnt. GoodJob.

  • Where is that tree?

  • @CammyS0405

Seqouia National Forest in Northern California. I planted it when I was a kid.

  • older then america lol, this tree is older then freaking moses.

  • i wonder what the bill/ticket or the smack on your fingers or whatever it calls will be if you cut it down =)

  • It's the same age as David letterman

  • lol 3000.. the sign say 2200.. " thinks that older than america? haha if u mean the US its about 1966 years older.

  • pretty darn awesome, but i like baobabs better! :-)

  • @MyCousinVinny13 I think baobabs are really aliens disguised as trees.

  • @billyjoeboomboom

if so, i may like them even more!

    ;-)

  • why does it matter if hes talking haha if you didnt like his voice in the first plae stop watching

  • wow theres nobody there! when i was there it was pretty crowded

  • its the largest CURRENT living tree, not the largest ever. at least according to guiness world record

  • @MuayThaiViking what does that matter, we ARE in the present, right? IT'S THE WORLD'S LARGEST LIVING THING...

  • @graciemaemarie11 look at the video description: ''I take a look at the largest living thing ever''. thats what i was commenting on

you dont have to say sorry, its alright :)

  • Awesome video! I must go there sometime.

  • "The things older than... America...and stuff"

    Stuff as in Jesus?

    LOL

  • Nice tree but the narative didnt teach me much. Im sure that America is considerably very young to this tree. I think we can all asume that by just taking one look at the tree, we see that it was here before this country was named. Just saying :)

  • I find it stupid that they call it the worlds largest tree. When obviosley we have not roamed the worlds entire wooded area's with a measuring tape. NOt trying to be a dick just saying.

  • almost as big as my dick

  • Cool...but I believe that tree is the largest in diameter...the tallest tree is in southern CA...or vise versa

  • man that is a enormous tree. wouldn't going to see it

  • where is it?

  • The narrator sounds like one of those loud nose breather people.

  • WOOOW! Do you know its height?

  • @lexander5 275 feet

  • damnnnnnnn

  • i think older tha usa but older than america i dunno

  • Hail to Sherman and Grant! The only Union generals who had any idea what they were doing!

  • com certeza se tivessimos mais conciência existiriam mais deste tamanho!!!!!!!

    TIAGO ARRUDA

  • General Sherman is one of the best examples there is to see what the largest coast redwoods were like pre-1900. The Crannell Creek Giant coast redwood was about 20% larger than this giant sequoia. There are photos of it online plus the recorded measurements. If fell about 1905. Before logging, the coast redwoods produced both the largest trees and the tallest trees.

  • @OregonArborist who cares, again, RIGHT NOW, the world's largest living thing is this tree... in CALIFORNIA...

  • this person recording is a fucking dumb ass. america is not even 4 hundred years old. and there was noting but indians and natives 3000 yrs ago..

  • If you are an asshole in your current life when you die you are going to reincarnate in a General Sherman Tree and you'll be forever in fucken world

    hahahahahahahahaha

  • Not the largest living thing in the world--I believe Quaking Aspens are...And the log between my legs.

  • @VcTaCerto ~ Aspen? Doubtful, even as a grove. Coast redwoods can be genetically identical too, having sprouted from roots of adjacent trees. A small grove of as few as 12 big clonal coast redwoods could easily surpass 47,000 stems of Utah's 'Pando' clone aspen. As a single tree, General Sherman is the top of the list with about 7 other giant sequia. Then a coast redwood Lost Monarch is next. So technically, Giant sequoia are not the largest trees in the world, but 7 or 8 of them are.

  • Ahp. Right you are in terms of wood volume, but not in mass it seems if underground biomass is considered and only one, say, General... However, is there much evidence towards the number of redwoods being identical in a grove, even if it is shown that they can re-sprout or sprout from roots of adjacent trees?

  • @OregonArborist all the greatest trees are in california...

  • The sugar and fat country number 1 is 300 years old....this is 3000 year old.

  • we need 1000 more trees like Sherman and we can shoot Star War XI.

  • that.thing.. is older.. than america.... AND STUFF! hahahahah

  • I stood by the tree it makes you feel so insignificant. my first thought was GEEEEZ what a monster.

  • i saw the general today. the area was covered in snow so there was no fence cause it was buried haha.

i was able to walk up to the base and grab a couple of the generals own seed/pinecone things that were on the ground.

talk about owning a piece of history!!

  • When these trees come down, Mexican drug cartels will have no place to hide their marijuana plantations.

  • @IFlick these trees are in the U S not in mexico..

  • @ELtercermundista82 Yes, and the cartels are using them to hide narcotics production. When they're cut down, they'have no place to hide marijuana crtops.

  • Why do you smack your lips before and after you say something? That shit is obnoxious.

  • si no enferman, son talados, les cae un rayo, estos arboles tranquilamente podrían existir eternamente, tambien radican problemas cn sus raíces, ya que estan muy expuestas

  • nice footage - your commentary is horrible - you sound like a fucking retard

  • In all fairness you sound like an asshole

  • ok...maybe "fucking retard" was a little harse....I shouldn't have said that.

  • The place is beautiful. When you said, "older than America... And Stuff!" I laughed so hard I nearly shat myself.

  • thats because you have the downs

  • @agentcloak i agree he does :O

  • @agentcloak hahaha, good one

  • @agentcloak Where is this tree located?

  • @littlegirl6645 Northern California in the Red Wood Forest in the Sierra Nevada mts.

  • @mike570059 who gives a shit? He fucking showed you a tree you homo. Dont like it? Fuck yourself than :)

  • @mike570059 I lol'd so hard at your comment - it was surprisingly blunt xD

  • lulz, giant sequoia? they can live for 6,000 years

  • i actually live 30 minutes away from general sherman, and it is beautiful.

  • your friend look like lego

  • older than America? Dude, it's older than christianity!

  • how much do you think that bitch weighs?

  • alot of the insides will be dead so it wont way as much as what it could

  • a few pounds less than your mom! jk.

  • It is the largest because of girth. Also concerning roots: very interesting to note that the sequoia trees have relatively small root structures. Look it up...

  • Amazing

  • sadly,1/3 of the sequoia trees have already been cut down.

  • Outrageous!

  • @calirep1990 prolong their existence perhaps? can they be replanted (i understand you'd have to wait 1000 years to preserve it for it to be grand.

  • @calirep1990, Hey! that means there are 2/3 of the sequoia trees left, so get over it.

  • I can only imagine the root structure on a 3000 year old tree.

  • The General Sherman Tree was first named the Karl Marx Tree by the Kaweah colony, a group of utopian socialists that were doing logging back in the 1880's in the area. When this was no longer allowed, the colony ended. If the tree could be renamed once, why can't it be renamed again? Sherman was one of the worst people in US history. As the world's biggest tree, it belongs to all the world and should be a symbol of peace, not named after a ruthless bigot. What name would you recommend?

  • obama

    not

  • that is NOT the worlds largest tree -- several are larger - this is 102 ft around ---- largest is the tule tree 191 ft around

  • yea but this is taller, has a bigger crown and more mass.

  • @sasktank again, this is the worlds largest living thing... not the tallest, or thickest, just overall, the MOSTISTS'the BEST... ok? ok

  • Fucking HUGE. O_O

  • Perhaps Leonard Nimoy or William Shatner could bring respect to the tree species.

Imagine how many trees were in Death Valley before it was nuked.

Put down the chainsaws and pick up a book fellow loggers.

  • older than religion, that's the real expression of beauty, it is not at all like us. nai!. this is santified

  • older than christianity not religion, and its older than the white man in america no america itself.

  • yea, what a beautiful park that is but this dude narrarating sounds like he took it in the ass really hard a few minutes earlier.

  • this guys voice makes me want to smack him

  • ahh men its beautiful !!

too bad u have to listen to a dumbfuck while watching..

  • hey fuck you

  • Ya that guy is an asshole!

  • YES... You sound like a moron.

  • well I had to listen to your mom suckin my dick. Man was she noisy! Sounded like a broken vaccum!

  • @xcenotaph

lol I was thinking the very same thing while watching this video.

  • This is a fantastic tree. I have yet to go out to see it but, it's amazing what nature gives us. Thanks for posting this.

    H.0.W.

  • Okay general sherman TREE!

I know your secret if I cut you your roots will reveal the greatest treasure of all!

  • anybody who finds the time to do so should check out the crystal cave here in SNP. its awesome aswell. bring a flashlight

  • wow. That's not just a tree. That's part of the american continent that actually grew upwards!

  • Never cut down that tree! Amazing!! NEver seen anything like it

  • lol it would take agges to cut down that tree with a saw i tink ts impossible:)

  • nooo lol poor tree:(

  • 3000 years old? no it isn´t. LOL it's older than America, omg a lot of castles in my country is much older than America......really stupid comment

  • Actually the tree is 3,000 years old, carbon dating puts it at around 3,200 years or so I believe. And yeah, America doesn't have much history as a joined country in itself, but who rules the world? ;D Your country would've been wiped off of the map by the Germans first, then the Russians, if it hadn't been for us.

  • It's gorgeous!

  • That tree is clearly on steroids. I demand a public inquiry. U.S trees should not be on the 'roids. What kind of example does this set for our young American saplings?

    For shame.

  • yes i agree i also heard the first body builders injected them selves with sap from the tree

  • that would make a nice boat

  • You are such a prick

  • ive seen that tree before at sequioa

  • wow you are amazing

  • haha that trees older than america... that thing's as old as the shang dynasty, that's fuckin old AS SHIT

  • i wondr how many gallons of weed killer it would take to kill that tree but god damn that is a beautiful tree

  • your gay tho

  • nice ive been there your funny btw

  • Contrary to what you said/read in the video and wrote in the description; the Methuselah tree is almost 2000 years older, and is still alive today. And then there is "Pando" whose root system is estimated to be about 80,000 to possibly 1,000,000 years old, and weighs an estimated 6,000 metric tonnes. So the "General Sherman Tree" is a upstart(relatively speaking). But those facts do not make "General Sherman Tree" any less impressive.

    P.S.

    Cool video! ★★★★★

    Katalyzt

  • Oh, I forgot to mention the size of the "Pando" root system; which is 107 acres. ;O)

    Katalyzt

  • Oh my god, you have truly enlightened my day, I was seriously off to go and cut myself until I found out all about the wonders of these amazing beautiful trees

  • Heh! I am glad I could help proveyouwrong02. ;O)

    Katalyzt

  • LOL no, Bristlecone pines are the old organism, Legumes, or a type of moss are older, but there are certain types of hedges in Europe that colonize and spread, essentially sprouting from one living thing....that reach 13000 years of age...any well intentioned key worded internet search can tell you that

  • older than america and stuff

  • I think scrabby needs a group hug.....there there....and mabye some emotional counseling. How bout you bring your stop watch and you can time me....but you have to promise no gerk jerkin' around while I'm cuttin'....

  • Sadly, mankind has destroyed trees that were even older, taller, and larger. At least we had to sense to stop before they were all gone.

  • Fuck you

  • damn loggers always trying to cut down the biggest trees.

  • Ahh, another dude who likes to jerk his gerkin to thoughts of Stihl saws like they're God's gift to the world. About 30 hours w/ your 880, & about 2 dozen 10inch diameter bored holes & some C4 explosives might bring this tree down. But let's all pray that dumbasses like u never get a chance to get near something so majestic. At 3,000 years old and 300 feet high, you're a nimrod for even thinking about touching it w/ a saw of ANY kind. HEY, I've got an idea. Fire up your 880 & sit on it.!

  • Guinness must have been smoking it while writing about it

  • i thought the largest living thing, according to Guinness is a giant mushroom

  • a giant mushroom is not a tree.

  • that's why i said living thing, i didn't say tree.

  • It's not older than America. America did not start with the arrival of Europeans but more than 10000 years ago with the arrival of Native Americans. Just a reminder...
