Cameron is right when he states that "we" need to listen to the wisdom of the indigenous people. He fails to state the necessity to act upon that wisdom which most of modern culture runs counter to. He also is mistaken in calling modern society "civilized". It is sad when people such as him with so much deep access to mass communications channels know so little about what is not merely virtual. With all due respect.....
Some of us cannot see our own ability to intervene. We may unconsciously choose self absorption and self pity- social diseases of the 'consumer' world that have crippled our views of self and separated us from our true power as individuals and communities. The film can be seen as an empowerment as well as a metaphor for the realities besetting the 370 million indigenous peoples around the world, today.
it is also root word for indigens ..which means poor , destitute and needy..
we are not ab_original or indigenous or black..we are the original man ...melanated
the ab original HUE man is the tribe that buys into the illusion created by the vatican thug inc that has been in operation for 500 years and making a mess of this planet ...
keep working for that debt currency ...the dream is about to collapse
But this film plays into so many of the stereotypes of indigenous people that have been sustained since the inception of mass media. It lives in the mind of modern culture and it was disappointing to see such a popular film capture and enhance and update those stereotypes and even undercut the very spiritual nature of indigenous life in its narrative. Amazing technology, but poorly placed and executed narrative content.
