Hey man, these build up videos are absolutely awesome. when are we gonna see a video of the finished product/first start? i'm anxious as hell to see what she's gonna look like when she's done :D
I really enjoyed this mini-series, hope to see more! Looking for the right shell to start my rally unit. (Being a welder/fabber saves one Hell of a stack of cash when doing it yourself! Thank you Trades, haha!)
wow this is eat your dinner of it clean you have some patience to prep like this, You american boys have got alot to learn about gravel rally. You can tell the sport is in its infancy over there. You should see some of the cars that charge round the UK forests! Ive googled the car and cant find it what is it? we dont have a CSX in the UK so excuse my ignorance.
you should have used a awd setup out of a minivan that would be sick here is a link to a awd turbo mopar go to turbo mopar dot com and aearch for AWD Omni good luck
this is a omni i know that but its around the same setup and what motor u runnin i think u should do a hybrid motor 2.5 bottem end with a srt4 head that would b a nasty little car awd and hybrid 16v turbo i mean it will be a nasty car the way it sits but its just a thought
@fastglhs It is a shadow and I already have an open class Subaru rally car so I don't need AWD. If I wanted a 16 valve I would use a 4g63 but I want the 8 valve. Thanks for the comment!
dude if you sell this thing afterwards let me know....i have a 94 duster that i built as a street car i went with the 3.0 v6 out of a dodge stealth rt gotta love those twin turbos lol
@skitcy123 You are absolutely right. I am building this car for fun. It has always been a project for me and not as a hurry up and get it done woods flogger. If that was the case I would have finished it in the first few months.
@rallycsx you r right buying takes the fun out of competition(serious) it is also the right step towards having a professional competition manufacturing firm and you are gaining a lot of experience car is heavy for 2 wheeler though.
Rally America is the sanctioning body for rally in the US. You can check their site for the rulebook. Also Specialstage forum is a great place to look.
Can you provide an guidance as to where I can find the information I would need to build my own rally car? Specifically the specifications for what is allowed for cars to meet certain class requirements. I really want to make a 3000gt rally car but I dont know if they would fit into any of the classes being that they are quite powerfull having a 3.0 Twin Turbo Engine. Im hoping there is a class that lets u run 3.0 naturally asperated motors and I would just build the 3.0 v6.
I subscribed and am anxiously awaiting future videos. VERY cool build. In the begining videos on ths project I was wondering what kind of car this was cause there wasnt much to look at but as the parts started getting put on I was like, Oh I know those cars. I have to admit I though to myself, " what an odd choice to build into a rally car."
its looking good mate!! If your misses complains about how much time your spending on it, just tell here there is some random guy in Australia you have to keep entertained but building and filming it!! I do have 2 questions, as i have never seen that car before.. what is it? why go with a non-cross flow motor? and why not go with quad throttles if your going with the intake stacks? just curious. your doing well dude!!!
@GRIPANDSLIP I bought my engine management out of Australia. When I talked tto the guy on the phone he had no idea what a Dodge was either haha. This is a Dodge Shadow turbo. you can google "Shelby Dodge" for more info on the cars.
I have worked with racecars for a decade and I wanted to build something just for me. This is the type of car that first got me interested in cars. I am putting everything I have learned into this one. Many people think its silly to put 30 thousand into a 200 dollar car but this car is for me and I will keep it forever.
As far as the engine configuration goes I wanted to stay with the original 2.2 Ltr 8 valve. It makes great torque and fits my driving style. I did consider quad TB set up but dropped the idea because the time involved didnt seem worth the returns. And FYI I have a very patient girl :D
keep up the good work man. it gives guys like me the encouragement that your project doesn't have to stay a dream but can become reallity. what will you do when it is done? after hundreds of man hours are you willing to drive it tight into the corners?
hey been watching ur videos on the rally for what seems like 2 yrs you been working on the car.. just never subscribed.. like the project and looks clean and very organized.. cant imagine all the research and cost/ time invested.. good luck i will stayed tuned. hope this motivates you as your videos motivate me i ounce changed a 93 mx4 1.8l automatic to a manual and that was a bit of a head ache seeing how parts are scarce good thing the ford probe used alot of the same parts..
hey i just want to say i just sat thro all your vids on this car build up to this one, i am amazed at the quality of work you put into this car, its looking great man! nothing like my p bodie, which just had a fire under the hood. ha. anyways good job man. keep up the great work!
haha i randomly found ur build vid from ur 86 and man i gotta tell u. keep up the good work. i am learning a lot about fabricating and just customizing a car. keep it up
Love this build, Have been following for quite a while now (maybe 2 year :S) I have learned a lot of nice little tricks from your videos some of which i have actually used...Keep up the excellent work, your vids give me inspiration to work on my own car
excellent videos mate very interesting. learning alot from them. keep up the good work. been waiting on this video for a while and looking forward till the next 1. hope that it brings you loads of luck in competition chief.
go on man!! this project is fabulous!! i'm so looking forward to see the final product. by the way, can i ask u which color will be the car. 'cause part is black and part white.
and what kind of turbo are u thinking to put into it?
@fabk90 The car will be white. All of my rigs are white :) I haven't made a turbo choice but I will be working with Turbosunleashed to help me build a custom unit. I will keep you posted!
Adam, I've been following your build since the first video. It's looking like it's coming out great. There is such precision accuracy you seem to put into it. Are you sure you'll want to toss that thing around the stages like a ragdoll when you're done with it?
Well when I started watching your video's I knew nuthing about rally car's. Now that I have watched , I have a new respect for what is really involved in what goes into building a car. Alot of blood sweat and busted knuckles. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to more videos to come. Cheers'
i havent been subscribed very long but love seeing people doing things on there own and the trial and error aspect. its easy to just swipe a card and buy a kit. one think i want to ask is why didnt you bend the pipe instead of welding peices together?
I use the bends because aluminium doesn't like to bend cleanly and it crushes at the bend area. The bends I buy are mandrel bends and are the same diameter all the way through. Thanks for watching!!

i think it would work out alot cheaper and less time consuming to just buy a used rally car.
Even if its cheaper to build it yourself imagine after 2 years of slaving away you head out there and hit a tree and write it off.
if you smashed one you just bought you would still be devastated but atleast you didnt have to commit as much time putting it together.
