  • Nice fucking playing!!! 5*!

Quick question, I'm planning to buy either a 7 or 8 string guitar, and cover some AAL, Periphery, Meshuggah, but I would like to know if tuning into various types...of tunings, would damage in some way the strings or the bridge?? Sorry for the lame question.

  • @xMetalUpYourA55x Well Periphery and Meshuggah use almost the same tuning(half step down) and AAL is in drop E on 8 string, with some songs on 7 in standard. You shouldn't have to worry about tension issues. I've never had any problems tuning all over the place.

  • or at least what tuning are you in? :)

  • @cacophony2994 drop Ab. It's a really easy song, there are tabs on Sevenstring.

  • can you post tab please? too lazy to figure out

  • hey man, im about to get the new pod hd pro rack. would you help me set it up kinda? like give me advice for the noise gate settings and mids and stuff?

  • @ACDCwarmachine Don't know anything about the Pod HD =/

Chimp Spanner posted a nice tutorial video on here that will probably give you exactly what you want!

  • how did you achieve your tone? seems pretty dead on :)

  • that is some damn awesome string bending good god

  • its like super groovemetal..... bands like Pantera and Unearth influanced this

  • that's awesome! would you mind uploading or mailing the pod farm patch? cheers

  • Excellent job man! Those are some damn fine chiggity chugs you got going there!

  • Nice cover!

  • I favorited this by the way. :)

  • Explain the part from 1:15 to like 1:27. The string bending part. In the videos I've seen of Misha playing he bends the string but the tone goes down instead of up (which is, in all reality, impossible.) I've always guessed there was more to it, but I never knew. So apparently if you hit the G# string and bend the 2nd string at 5 (maybe 5? Can't really tell) then you get this weird low note thing going on? Is that how you do it? Open G# + super bend on fret 5 on the 2nd string = crazy low tone?

  • @CassDarkwing It's due to the tremolo. Because the bridge is "floating", bending a string too far will change the pitch of other string. In essence I'm pulling the trem down by pulling on a different string than the one I'm playing.

  • @AlucardXIX So you just have to bend the crap out of the string basically? And sorry. Don't really know much about the whole "floating" bridge thing. I've heard it before but my knowledge on it isn't really that technical. Be great if you explained. :) My brother (He's been playing guitar for 9 years, myself for only 3) and I have both been wondering for the longest time what the hell is going on here.

  • @CassDarkwing If either of you have a floyd rose or even a regular tremolo on your guitar you should be able to do it. Because the tremolos are on springs, pulling the string far enough will literally push the bridge "down" as if you were pushing it with a trem bar, only you're not.

Yea, that was kind of all over the place...sorry =/

  • @AlucardXIX Haha. No it's a great cover, I posted another comment right after the one we're replying to here, telling you I favorited it. I like this vid. :D But no, neither of us have floyd rose or anything like that on our guitars. He's never been a fan of them much, but I just haven't had a chance to get a guitar with one, I'd really really love to have one. We both play on Schecters at the moment, he has a Hellraiser (before they came stock with tremolos) and I have an Omen-6.

  • @CassDarkwing Ah man, get yourselves into Ibanez! The necks are so much nicer, easier to play. Honestly, I dislike Floyd Roses, but they are nice for recording since you have a locking nut. Less chance it will go out of tune on you.

  • @AlucardXIX Yeah, I really want an Ibanez! They're so pretty! I might get a nice 6 string Ibanez sometime soon. Any suggestions on an Ibanez? I want a Prestige. Really really bad. Hahaha.

  • Nice shirt! How bout some cover videos from those guys, eh?

  • i examined this vid carefully and its the best so far except that bend before the last riff.dont get me wrong this is quality work but that bend note sounds more like a low G note. you know the one before the G# NOTE in other words the fourth fret on the Eb string dont you think? i tried a tuning that allowed it to ring true in a deep low way or unless useing a tremelo to get the desired sound

  • @IEATMETALHEADS Eh, the reason the bend isn't right is because of how I have my tremolo blocked. It's not allowing the note to drop pitch as if it were floating or I used a tremol-no. But I appreciate it!

  • what other periphery covers you'v done i heard you got total mad on deck!

  • @IEATMETALHEADS Did that one a while ago haha

  • I can has tab?

  • Up until that last heavy chord section. You technique is eerily similar. After that your picking hand becomes aggressive and turns into a mad demon. :) Very good sounds by the way.

  • Sick dude, can't wait for new Encircle to come out!

  • @maxstatic I hope the same goes for a lot of people! =D It's going to be good, I promise!

  • could you possibly post your pod farm patch somewhere?

  • @rfranknj Considering it soon. I don't even use Pod Farm anymore except for clean guitar stuff and bass.

  • @AlucardXIX if you no longer uses pod farm don't be selfish and share your preset please. we are not going to sound as you cuz we don't have all your exact gear but we can learn how to dial good tones out from it like you.

  • Wow! why does this have so little views!?

    This is INSANE

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic Lol thanks, but 4500 views is pretty decent.

  • @AlucardXIX

But it should have 45,000 views! :(

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic I'd personally prefer that on my own music! haha But thanks again =D Your videos are good too, very well done!

  • Can you tell me your podfarm settings please???

  • @PursueTheConcealed All you need is the Big Bottom amp, V-30 cab with 57 mic (on or off axis, depends on taste), Boost+EQ stomp(mid freq knob at about 70-80), and the 4 band EQ(boost 240 and around 800-1100)

  • Holy shit.

So uh...hook me up with that amazing tone? :D

  • @ProphetOfShred Pod Farm?

  • @AlucardXIX Yes. If that is the right answer.

  • damn i love those harsh bends!

  • 7 strinG? and what tuning

  • @binty47 Drop Ab

  • Gonna sound weird, but you look like you've lost weight, dude.

  • @Drhodes1 Lmao, second person to say that. I have. Working a physical job and eating a bit healthier can do that haha

  • @AlucardXIX Keep it up !

  • i like the background from google

  • you just got an extra subscriber!

  • Damn, so tight, Awesome cover !

  • daaamn this is awesome :) i love the bends ^^ and with perfect timing :P

  • I have a line 6 Gear Box.

How the hell do i get that godly tone?

  • @hendrixxr4r Big Bottom amp! It's in the metal shop pack. If not, you can always go with the Line 6 Treadplate amp, just make sure the gain is under 50% and the mids are kind of high.

  • dude fuckin cover B Equals D or Luck as a Constant. Possibly some of his most underrated songs

  • @quarentine99 I would absolutely LOVE to cover B Equals D...problem is, that song is a bitch and a half to try and play...

  • great cover or a great song man. one question though. how are you doing those bends in the riff at 1:14 ? because im learning this song from the guitarpro you posted on the sevenstring forum. and i cant get my bends to sound like that at all. Whats the secret? please and thankyou :)

  • @mrdeath007 It can only be done on a guitar with a tremolo. By bending a parallel string far enough, you can actually drop the pitch of another string, effectively diving the trem slightly.

  • @AlucardXIX

    damn. alright man... thanks!

  • care to share your POD patch? Nice work bro!

  • damn bend that fucking string!

  • @GuItArKiKsAsS Gotta!

  • @GuItArKiKsAsS lol thought the same thing

  • can't really hear your guitar playing over the original recording..

or maybe your tone is just that good!

    nice jaerb, nevertheless :D

  • @jimmy906 Believe it or not, it's actually just that close to the original...Check your inbox!

  • Comment removed

  • meshuggah ftw... everything comes from that

  • @jumatm Pretty damn much haha

  • what tuning is this in?

  • @quarentine99 Half step down from standard B with the Bb dropped to Ab

  • @quarentine99 In other words.. Drop Ab (Ab Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb)

  • great song, always wanted to play it. nicely done

  • would love to have access to your podfarm tone. im using pod farm platinum and cant get anywhere near that! any help id love.

    great track!

  • great cover! :D

That downbend always makes me feel weird inside, haha.

You should post a video on how to dial in a good metal/djent tone!

  • what interface are u using to play whit pod farm? did you put your x3 into your interface to get the DI track then you reamp it whit podfarm?. cuz i wanna make some covers too. but get a really good tone like you is a fucking matter for me.

  • @TechcoreIsSexy I actually jam a Line 6 Toneport Ux1 (Now the POD Studio UX1) right into Pod Farm, then just hit record. Going to upgrade to Pod Farm 2 and do the "reamping" technique for my album.

  • CAN I HAVE UR PODFARM TONE!! :D

  • @myguitar856 I might post it somewhere one day!

  • COVER NEW AFTER THE BURIAL ALBUM!

  • Sounds sick man. Could you upload the POD farm preset somewhere plz?

  • @bluie3 I might one day!

  • @AlucardXIX ok......

  • We have the same taste in music bro! VoM is my favorite band & I love Within The Ruins, and Bulb as well. I hope to be as good as you when I'm your age. Thanks for inspiring me to work harder! -Jeff S.

  • @HolyReprisal same here bro! we all must be related lol jk anyways anyone have a clue where i can find these tabs, link plz?

  • love it. keep it uppp! btw how have u achieved that beastly tone? or is that just the actual song playing?

  • @babbagoose POD Farm and knowledge of how to make a djenty tone haha. Big Bottom amp model with the V-30 cab!

  • love it. keep it uppp

  • Congratulations on getting 1,000 subs dude, you deserve all the recognition that you get and more for your great videos man. Keep up the great work. Btw I really dig this cover, could I get tabs for this as well?

  • @stoutmeister91 Thanks man! i posted the Guitar Pro for it on the Sevenstring forums in the Periphery tab thread!

  • @AlucardXIX Alright cool man, I'll check it out.

  • Totally just subbed. You rock dude.

  • SO tight and perfect tone

  • The power of the floyd rose. hahah love doing that string pulling thng.

  • @DemonofShadowFin Lol, mine is blocked so it doesnt bend as far as it could. I hate Floyd's :|

  • Bulb is a genius, i love this groove. And as per usual, you did a spot on job covering it! keep up the good work :)

  • @autodidact19 Thank you!

  • Can the people here that use a line 6 Pod xt live help me out i jus got one today for a really good price but im so confuse on it i connect it to the commputer and it doesnt play through the speakers is there anyway i can and is there a way i can get the distortion any better so far it sounds ok but when i get it really loud i get feedback even with the noise gate CAn u guys help me out!! :( thanks and sorry if im buggen u guys about it.

  • @myguitar856 All about levels. Keep the volume on a patch no higher than 70%. Honestly, I cant help with the XT, I have the X3.

  • @AlucardXIX thanks man ur such a good guitarist haha!

  • @myguitar856 I did a full cover of this, just me playing, on my soundcloud! Search my name!

  • Kickass dude! Nice cover man! I love that song, it's so groovy! I was actually waiting for u to make a cover of this one :P really one of my favourite songs of Bulb!

    Keep it up!

  • Hell yeah brother, we have the same brain musically, Move to canada so we can jam...everday. lmao this is sooooo sick.

  • @Drumtome Haha. I'd love to at least visit Canada one day lmao

  • I know you use pod farm but what AMP do you use? Axe Fx? :p only the best for pro's i guess

  • @NoaOno Haha I WISH I had an Axe dude! I used the Big Bottom amp with the Boost+EQ Stomp. Basically the same set up Misha used for years! Though, I made the patch from scratch myself.

  • @AlucardXIX cool. I need a real amp I got a really tiny little one, fender. Everything sounds treblish as hellish. Are line6's alright or else what would you recommend for not more than 800$?

  • @NoaOno You could probably get a decent head for under 8. Look into the 5150's, they are used pretty prominently in metal and sound killer if tweaked right.

  • @AlucardXIX thanks

  • Sounds great man, what gauge strings do you use for dropped Ab. I've got a 6 string baritone, but I can't find strings with the right amount of tension.

  • @lDbReaper I'm just using a D'Addario 10-59 set. I know live Misha uses very thick strings to minimize breakage, but in the studio he uses a set of 9's from my understanding. Thinner strings = better djent!

  • can u post this? I am a major scrub and can't figure it out by ear o_O!!!

  • @bluntegg I'll ask my friend!

  • ah! love it. that songs way too fucking short though

  • sick cover, one of my fav riffs of all times. faved :)

  • damn you beat me again! haha, very nice my man

  • What would the tuning be man?

is it Drop G? maybe F i aint got my guitar with me to check .

    but good cover man.

  • @IdRatherbeDeaddd drop Ab

  • Gratz on the thousand subs ! Well deserved! And sick cover as always !!!

  • Very nice my friend :)

  • @Screamokid2k The big chugs in the outro are djent. A double octave power chord that is heavily palm muted. "Djent" is pretty much just the onomatopoeia for the sound it makes.

  • pls cover the new after the burial song bread crumbs and white stones !

  • @tal051 Maybe! My friend posted a tab of it that is damn near dead on!

  • tone! nice job man. congrats on 1000!

  • Congrats on 1k dude. Cover was sick. As usual!

  • fucking Djent :)

  • great job man :)

  • I want that tone! :O Can you upload the file somewhere please?

  • sick man awesome job on hitting 1000

  • submitting a formal request for a cover of after the burial - bread crumbs and white stones.

    nice cover, as always.

  • earfuck yes

  • super awesome, hell yes

  • Whatever that was it was freakin awesome! It sounded like Periphery. Love the Within The Ruins shirt :)

  • @AnDynessisity Lol It was Misha from Periphery. He's been releasing solo stuff for years before Periphery got recognized.

  • @AlucardXIX Oh ok I didn't know that. That's awesome :) can't wait to see your next cover video :) I think it would be cool of you did one from the new A Plea For Purging album, just sayin' :P

  • phenomenal as usual

  • what tuneing is bulb in and i thought there name was periphery? nice cover tho aha sum1 help me out here!

  • @myguitar856 This is something he released solo. It's standard tuning half step down with the Bb dropped to Ab. At least for 7 string.

  • Im so glad bulb recorded this! I personally think its the most "djenty" thing ive ever heard. You did great :)

  • @Deylan06 It is! The outro part is SOLID djent. True djent, not the "polyrhythmic metal" that everyone calls djent!

  • fuck yes!

  • Well done Man :)

  • Those bends could kill.

  • @smokejc especially if the string breaks hahahahahaha jk

  • Love the Within the Ruins shirt!

  • You kind of remind me of Buzz McGrath. Not sure if you hate him or not, but I mean it as a compliment :)

  • @MyEverConstantSmile Haha I'd consider him overall a better guitarist than me, but I'm not a big fan! lol

  • @AlucardXIX fuck man you wreckon i could this tone is guitar rig?

  • The tone is ok in my opinion, mite wanna try out the Snipal puppet amp model with the only change eq wise to it being raising that volume, thats what works best for me.

  • @ktxdgqtx I never liked that amp model at all. Always seemed too thin to me. I had to pretty much crank the volume during editing to get my guitar to come through. The tones sound so similar it's hard to tell them apart sometimes =/

  • Dude, you totally deserve 1000 subs! You helped me out a lot by posting these cover, just wanted to say thanks. You're way to good with those guitars.

  • nice and congrates...id love to see more done with your 8 string and mebe some gear demos or walk threws if you happen to have the time man

  • YES! Well done dude!

  • @deviloogy Thank you!

  • Gratz on 1000! Another awesome cover!
