I thought this was really good as far as demos go. Looking at the other comments on here I appear to be alone in that opinion but I stand by it none the less. I liked it. I thought it was entertaining and looked fairly realistic. As much as you can without hurting your training partner.
@BladeKempMusic where I go we focus on all of that. The bear hug, grabs, knifes, and even of coarse guns at close range. I'd say we cover them in an efficient realistic way. We do all the formalities and some forms with the ridged stances but when we get down to it we like to trim the fat and inflict serious pain. Were not above a curb stomp or a well placed kidney shot. We don't try to clear the attackers sinuses as shown in the video. We like to break the rib and jam it into the lung.
@Aerosmithrockr1 sorry bout the late reply; this was the first video on kajukenbo id actually seen, and i came across it again on fight quest, which was actually quite a good episode. i understand its more than this, as it seems, slapping now. looks nice
@2AOH1S4 I hope you know that that was a superbly shitty example of Kajukenbo. I've not seen that kind of shitty "oh you have a cough? Let me slap you on the back and chest a few times." no we do alot of mix martial arts. The KA stands for karate the JU stands for judo and jujitsu, the KEN stands for kenpo, and the JU stands for Chinese and American boxing. But we concentrate on the street fighting multiple opponents where there's no salute or warning aspect of self defense. Of coarse we have o
Only Hollywood 9mms have an unlimited supply of bullets to shoot so once the pistol is out of ammo what? How well does Brazillian jujitsu work against multiple attackers? Which is what you most likely be dealing with in a real self defense situation. Although Vale Tudo is the closest thing to a real battlefield it still is not a battlefield.
@oeyesea Awesome comment. I'm a Goju kai myself and I have the idea in my head that I would rather train in something that's been proven for years, than something new. Learning something contemporary like Boxing or BJJ would just be so I understand more on how to defend against it. Like how the Gracie's started to loose once everyone understood how to defend against their style of jujutsu. I figure if you learn to defend against the new, Traditional arts just becomes stronger.
Dumb ass! Ju-jitsu is Kajukenbo.... Where do you think Brazilian Jujitsju comes from! Same place where the Ju-jitusu in Kaju comes from; Japan, same source. It's just applied differently. Learn your history, then you can leave such a comment....
kajukenbo was only recently added to the jkd curriculum in the late 90's. sorry mr mrmkiiv i was there for the change over. and the integration only happened cause at its base kajukenbo has some really good techniques although this video is no justification of the art.
i cant help but think it looks weak - im sure its not, but the video doesnt do it justice im sure; is this martial art based primarily on striking? i just wondered what the techniques would be if u were grabbed, bear hug, strangle, etc.
hit fast with all your strenght to the weakest point when he donot expect it . that is martial art nothing more nothing less. 3000 of warefare in one setence
@ainokila en la teoria se dan estas "palmaditas", en la practica el kajukenbo es tal vez el arte marcial mas completo en cuanto a defensa se refiere. Esas "palmaditas" estan golpeando zonas claves del cuerpo.
@phuong6936 This is funny you see Kenpo, I see arnis. FMA, Kenpo and Kung fu were a huge part of the builing blocks of Kajukenbo. whatever the origins, I really like what I see in this video.
@fghrere I think they are gay to, but judo... Dude, judo is good when no one is smashin your face or kickin your balls. it is sport. Sports are no good for self defence. You should mix judo with kick boxing. and still it is not enough in the real life situations.
@BladeKempMusic no, I dont like bjj. Grappling is the last thing I would do in the street situation. Striking is my thing, but on the other hand, I use trapping and throws. But Judo or bjj means being on the ground. In the street it would be the end of your fight, well, in most cases.
In summary: adaptation, responsiveness, explosion.

@Frayvzler ah 0k, merci beacoup. hey by the way, do you know how its consider savate in france? (or you're from another place?) or the ppl prefer other martial arts by far?

menos reaccion tiene el agresor, cuando pega la piña la deja en el lugar, no la retrae, y las palmaditas en la espalda de que sirven?
Creo que es muy estetico y me hace recordar a la fluidez de las peleas de matrix.
