I personally found this to be the most realistic ending to the game's story. Taking into account the events of SA2, and shadow's personally, I feel this ending fits..and if Sega decided to pursue one good story instead of leaving so many options, and so many things indiscernible, the story could of been extremely compelling. It's just a shame that Sega thought that Vector would be great to have stick along for this ending...

I really felt really sorry for Shadow such a emotional and heart-breaking scene when he realises how much chaos and destruction he had caused but the saddest thing is how he realises that he didn't stop what he was doing or he didn't fight against his feelings which was sad ._. then saying that he shouldn't have been created because of guilt and sadness....

This ending isn't Emo. Shadow is just depressed because someone told him that His best friend/Mother got killed because of what he did and Shadow caused a lot of destruction. In this ending, Shadow is clearly depressed contemplating offing himself, but in the end you can tell that hearing Vector's annoying voice again after being told to "find the computer room" for an hour is what finally pushed him over the edge.

I always felt so bad for Shadow in this ending (ironically, this is the most viewed ending for me, since I always--somehow--happen to be playing the slighly-hero story instead of the neutral or pure-hero story. XD) If you watched the cutscene before this one, Shadow hinted he was gonna kill himself afterwards if what the Commander had said was true (which, in this storyline, it is). Poor Shadow, don't do it! DX
