  • If you can't figure out what he's playing, then you shouldn't try playing this song. it's as simple as that.

  • perfect, aside from the tiny mistake on the slide, but other than that, perfect.

  • awesome job.... that sounded EXACTLY like the recorded version. i LOVE the way you aimed your camera at the fretboard in the way you would see it while holding it in your hand. great thinking. you rock

  • people just want an idiots guide to playing the song, this is perfect.. right to the point and no draggin ass. learn to use the pause and rewind features before u bitch.

  • I love how he is always positive on the really negative comments, lol.

  • Great video. Not for me, cause I'm a beginner. :(

    But great video.

  • this is good!!!

  • thankss. :D

  • all this shows is the bedroom guitarists version of the intro. There is a lot more to this number than a few open GCD licks and a Bflat add G plus C inversion intro bridge. Spam anyway.

  • The problem is a lot of people havent "learned how to learn". 30 minute tutorials suck unless you are a complete beginner. Though it takes practice, it is well worth it to be able to just watch someone play and learn. Just take it slow. Use your brain and figure it out!!! Every time you learn a song this way, the next one will be easier. This is at least what I have found. Great job by the way. This helped me out a lot. Download the powertab if you still have problems.

  • very nice. i've been self teaching by looping certain parst of the song for hours 'till i get it. u taught me more in one min!! Thanks 'mate'!

  • inspired

  • dude i think you should make a million dollars just for being the only one on youtube that films from that prospective, good lookin out

  • great video thx

  • nice playing man. Though, it really wasnt helpful as a tut. then again im sure if u were good at the guitar this WOULD help u.

  • That was a great clip man. I've had bits of pieces of this song, and I guess never bothered to try getting the rest...I'm doing it right now though. Sure there were a few mistakes, but that was great nonetheless!

  • Perfect song to learn hammer/pull offs and put calous on those fingertips. Love the way you really give it that chunk chunky sound after intro. Can't wait to be up to speed, I'll get laid for sure. lol Thanks

  • Yeah this one I like!

  • Right on!! Keep em rockin down under, mate !!

    AWWWWooooo0000000000000 !

G00d job ! Good cam angle.

**The bozo's who haven't figured out how to read what chords you are playing also may not have the ability to "pause the vid" and bring in a research team, hahah

  • Fuckin' killer man! Just what I was looking for. Thank you very much.

  • you do a great job bud if someone cant learn from that than they should pawn there guitar

  • I like the groove and your way of showing us how-to-do-it! By the way, you'll find three kind of comments:

    1. Negative comments by pseudoexpert players, pointing out only your mistakes.

    2. Those of begginner players, believing your work is perfect and delighted by the possibility of learn from you.

    3. Objective comments talking about your mistakes but encouraging you to be better each day, maybe ending with a smiley like this :)

Ignore the ones, welcome in the seconds and trust in the thirds!

  • Nice f@CKin Job! F@cK the haterz. This tutorial absolutely shows you how to play this song. I learned it in less than 2 hours thanks to you. Again, nice job.

  • @etasakovic That's good mate! I'm glad you found this useful, that's the only f@cking reason I make these vids. :)

  • @nickeax @nickeax This was the ONLY video that helped me learn this. Thank you so much :D

  • This doesnt show us how to play the song...

  • @jwaldman69 Hi there! Thanks a lot for your comment, it means a lot to me. :)

This video does not show you how to play guitar, but it certainly shows you how to play this number.

    Best wishes,

    Nick.

  • WTf man, this is not a tutorial on how to play over the hills and far away. YOu should rename the title of this video to "Me playing over the hills and far away"

  • @IDrinkAl0ne Hi there mate. Thanks a lot for your comment. As far as this not being a tutorial goes, I disagree. If I wanted to learn this song, this video would show me all I need to know.

    Kind regards,

    Nick.

  • At 1:02 when you slide back down and hit the chords back to back, what chords do you go in to?

It looks like you hit Gish then something else with a hammer-on. I've got the strum/chug pattern down but I can't tell what you're doing it's too fast lol.

  • @littlefishdk450 G D -> D A.

  • That's really good. Sound just like Led Zep. Would you mind doing it in slo-mo?????:---D Like how bout at 1/1000th speed!!!!???

  • @DontCallMeChrissy maybe if I can find the time.

  • this part is easy i wanna learn the parts after this do you have that?

  • @okgo43 No.

  • Awesome!

  • @TheMangiSimbu Thanks!

  • This isn't standard tuning, is it?

  • @JarrydGothix Yesh.

  • uhmazeing! this was amazing lots of help

  • @JamilahFeranna I'm always happy to be of assistance!

  • not even over the crack in the sidewalk in my opinion!!!!!

  • @austinK65 I think I know what you mean!

  • yeah man thanks for this you have really opened that up for me, keep on

  • @lindsayroughneen Excellent! :)

  • really helped me!!

    thnx a lot!

    btw, you play verryyy well

  • Thanks! And you're very welcome.

  • a little too quick and i like when ppl tell u where/ how to put ur fingers but i dig the veiw definetly helps

  • No worries.

  • ♥

  • this style of teaching may be the best ive ever seen! i like it cause i can actually know whats going on from my own perspective. thanks man.

  • You're welcome!

  • is that a martin d series by anycahnce i got the same guitar

  • Yeah it is!

  • rite on hahah i put some elixers on her but i really think id rather the sound of the marquuis and thanks fer the good video btw (y) great job

  • Badass video. I can't do dick with a guitar, but this inspires me to do something about that. This song has my favorite guitar solo ever in it, and I can't wait to be able to play it.

  • I would not begin with this song. :)

  • That was one of the best ive seen for over the hills and far away but seemed a little fast in some parts compared to the cd. Im still stuck on the part that is 12 and a half seconds into your video.

  • Keep at it!

  • Nice. At 0:22 I like to add the 3rd fret 4th string which then slides up to the 5th fret with the rest of the chord.

  • I'll give it a try, thanks.

  • Nice. I wont wait for practicing it anymore. Thanks for the audivisual help.

  • You're very welcome.

  • thats sweet doyou have anything for the rest of the song or is it pretty much just variations off what your playing there?

  • I haven't made a tutorial for the rest of the number yet.

  • Amazing! Nice job!

  • Thanks.

  • Welcome man.

  • you have the skill you just need the confidence in the fingering's your kinda late with the poiter and middle figer on G you got it though keep practicing

  • I think I know what you mean!

  • your good i can play this better now

  • Excellent to see.

  • i like the camera position, i wish other videos did that, so i dont have to try to guess where his hands are b/c its flipped

  • I hear ya. :)

  • nice, has the sound that led zep had, you know the sorta "bow" when you pluck a string. Compilments to that, my ol' crappy squire sound more like a stell drum, lol

  • i hear ya, but i love my little shitty squire, and in a few years time when i get that beautiful les paul, i'll look back at my little squire with nothin but love : )

  • I think all guitars are beautiful and magical.

  • pretty nice and clear

    like it a lot

don't quite get the final part =/

  • the camera pos is quite surprising

    ur guitar sounds clear

  • Yeah, I didn't use the mic on the camera.

  • The chord you are playing at 0:22 x1oo3x is actually x1303x ( slide to x3505x )try it and you'll hear the difference staight away.

  • Cheers for the info mate. I'll give that a try.

  • Yup. you can sound the difference dude. That is the exact way its played! Great angle on the vid man, I love this song!

  • he played it wrong your supposed to play the intro three times he only played it twice

  • I'm a learner.

  • yah got allital of beat and went to fast . you anso skiped a section but good job though

  • I'm a learner.

  • best one on youtube ive seen so far

  • Thanks.

  • nice cover and all but thats like someone playing cliffs of dover in ur face nothing near a tutorial....

  • I think I know what you mean!

  • sorry for the dumb question again great video how long have you been playing?

  • i know the basics of this song just need more practice great tutorial may i subscribe?

  • I guess so?

  • Nooooo

  • lol you dont need to ask if you may subscribe to people's videos!! haha just do it!

  • love your playing, but slow it down so us amateurs can learn please lol

  • not to be rude or anything.. but this song

involves alot of pulloffs/hammerons and if you dont know exactly what he is doing, that is because you are not ready to learn the song.. take some time to look over all of that song and once you become better at it, this song will be alot easier for you to learn. I know this because today is my second attempt to learn it too and now i know so much more.. its so much easier for me.

  • ah yes, that was beautiful...

funny thing with Jimmy Page stuff it looks really easy to pull off, when in fact it can be very difficult to play..

again jun626 is I believe one of the best

  • @leokimvideo it's easy to play man i learned the intro in 1 day

    seriously man

  • It doesn't have that short sliding part that ends on the 7th fret. (The part im talking about you can hear at around the 1:00 of the original song).

  • haha i dont see how u can play without the dots haha

  • there are dots on the top of the neck mate... that's what you're supposed to be looking at, you can see it on his

  • the dots are on the side of the fretboard. look closer

  • very beautiful and flawless

  • FLAWLESS ??? Are you deaf? He made mistakes plenty!! But was a great attempt .

  • Thank you for taking the time with this lesson. As a beginner, being able to see what's going on is very beneficial. In just a few minutes, I was able to play the first section of the song up through the first chord. For me, that's a huge leap in a very short amount of time.

  • Great to see!

  • thats y i like it

  • This is the greatest song by Zep, its so magical <3

I always listen to it while i masturbates!

  • me too..

  • This song is about masturbation.

  • it is not!

  • Sorry, I was thinking about some other song. :-)

  • TMI man TMI !!!

  • Hey - nice nice video. Great job. Perfect video angle on what you're doing as well.

  • Last year I drooled over this video. Now I can play just as well. Great video

  • same here, this video helped me a lot as well.

  • great lesson..love the way you shoot your vids much easyier to follow..cheers..

  • great tutorial, the mistakes doesnt matter even the guitar gods make em at the stage but we can even see them, thats the art of the guitar make our mistakes look like little pieces of art, gratz man

  • wow great tutorial u tought me nothing

  • >givemeurtots

I myself and many others learn MUCH faster and better from just seeing the song played, and it comes much faster if you are forced to keep up pace with the instructor. =)

  • lots of mistakes like me =D

lol but you shouldnt make no mistakes if its a tutorial

  • Nor if you're making a comment. =D

  • touche =D

  • great.

  • yeah dude slow it down and explain good job but slow down.

    that what she said. jfk!

  • lol that was very nice XD

  • ..how is this a tutorial?

you are very good though, just would have been nice if you explained what to do ;)

  • if your smart u can follow what hes playing, obviously your some kid who plays guitar becuase he thinks its cool. to play guitar u gotta feel it or it will sound like shit. to me it is a tutorial =-)

  • ..No. I am a guitar beginner, thus I have not acquired the right skill yet to just "follow" what another player does. Sorry I'm not as "pro" or as "cool" as you. I for one enjoy playing the guitar very much, and if you think this video is a tutorial you need to attend the "Research for Dummies" class ASAP ;)

  • daim!!;) nice job

  • very well done and complete

  • Amazing, just amazing

i wish i could play it as well as you do

i gotta keep practicing thanks for the video

  • I got make of your guitar...it sound so good!! I am going to check out I am in the market for one, you got a sharp ear for learning it that way, thanks again!

  • Cool! Thanks for the kind comments. The guitar is a Martin DCX-1e. Great value for money guitar, IMHO.

  • I enjoyed that, thank you...nice guitar too...what make is it?

  • This guitar is a Martin DCX-1e

  • Learned this song a year ago watching this video. Can't thank you enough for posting. I would have never learned it!

  • No need to thank me. Thank yourself for your tenacity.

  • pleasure to listen to. thanks for sharing.

  • You're welcome.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Thanks.

  • brb, cleaning the poop out of my pants O.o

  • Good luck with that!

  • plz plz i beg man i love this way can you plz help me out hear plz make tab just for the intro

  • It's on Google's website.

  • Great job. I appreciate your humility in the comments when all these clowns who can't play tell you you're wrong. I was looking for the chord progression over which Robert sings "Many have I loved," and this video didn't really help with that, but it was a pleasure to watch. I love watching anyone play the guitar.

  • dang ur so much better at playing this then me

  • Everyone is better than someone.

  • yeah i guess ur right lol. this just isnt my song haha

  • I didn't mean that. I meant that you might just need to practice more! :-)

  • ok thanks! i will! lol :D

  • Awesome cover, It was kind of obvious you made a few mistakes, but doing that all by ear is pretty impressive. 5 thumbs up

  • i don't think he skipped anything??

  • Man you just skipped a bunch of it!!! I would find your tabs some where else next time

  • TABs? I didn't use TABs, I used my ear. :-)

  • Well you better use some hearin aids then.... Cause that was pretty sketch

  • I should probably try harder. This was one of my first videos and I didn't put much thought into it. I have improved the turorial-ness of my videos since this one. :-)

  • great job man better then most people ive seen

  • it help me a lot

    thanks man

  • You're welcome!

  • Go the Aussies!

Great stuff bud, that fucked me up with the different view but it works real well, cheers.

Try a MartinDC16GTE,youll love that more i reckon!

  • You can give me one as a gift. :-)

  • thanks for putting this up, it was totally helpful to me.

  • I'm glad to read that!

  • What kind of guitar? It's one of the best sounding acoustics I've ever heard. You play it really well too 5/5.

  • It's Martin DCX1E. I love it.

  • thanks dude, thats one of the best tutorials i've seen, works great with the guitarist view of the neck; i hate having to squint my eyes to make out the placements cause some douche decided to put the cam on a desk.

  • No worries!

  • I can only assume the bloke wanted to shoot his tutorial from the guitarists point of view, hence the "upside down" look, but hell he rocked the shit so cut the fella sum slack. PLUS anybody who has reasonable skill with a guitar (not saying i have any) would be able to pick it up from that quick demo, it might even be easier for some because he doesn't pause to explain every little bit, he just rolls on an u can watch it again an again. Choice niceax AUSSIE'S ROCK THE SHIT DOWN

  • Agreed.

  • I agree with the part about 'reasonable skill'. If you can't pick it up from this video, then you need to learn properly from the beginning. That includes all the boring chord and scale stuff!

I created a website that attempts to help people do this, and it's all free.

    guitaraustraliaDOTcom

  • Eeriebadfish is a dill-hole. THat was great and sounds fantastic.

  • first of all i'd like to thank you for using some restraint while chosing an adjective to describe me..second i never said it does'nt sound good and im not saying it could'nt sound better however from my perspective it is a bad angle to shoot a tutorial, one would think that if you were trying to show someone how to play a piece of music you would try to make it as easy as possibe.thats why his vid sucks monkey balls. if the title was look how i can rock half of this zep song that would be fine

  • your tutorial sucks monkey balls hey come and try to learn this intricate song upside down and backwards in a minute and a half tutorial

  • Ha ha! You are a funny person. :-)

  • i already new it and when i played it with this video it sounded great and Dou u have a martin ? Thats what I have

  • not much of a tutorial man. you should stop and and explain or slow down or a combination of both. that way amatures like me can follow. It would help alot!
