You need to connect a rca stereo to 1/8 mini jack cable from the "record" or "booth" out of your mixer to the "line in" on your computer or laptop, then you need a audio recording program like sony soundforge(i personally use) or "Audacity"(which is free) to download from your "line in" ...I hope this helps :)

Serato is NOT laptop only, you have to know how to work 1200's or cdj's. There are hardly "turntable" dj's nowadays because record companies are not printing vinyl anymore, it's too expensive, they're making their money off of cd's and mp3's. This is 2009!

Either way, back then I would count the beats and write the bpm on the corner of the record sleeve, so either way I was familiar with bpm way before this digital shit, straight vestax mixer and sl-1200's...
