  • Absolutely brilliant! Wish all the vids were as clear.

  • @IThinkMyNamesTooLong To demonstrate the confusion, one of the prisoner's unspoken messages was in a multi-episode reference to the village's location. And that came out in the Channel Four programme Six-Into-One...The Prisoner File, which I saw in 1984 (I also have that on DVD). The village was in different places, whenever Number Six tried to escape from it. The Village could be anywhere in the world, controlled by any, or by every, government.

  • @IThinkMyNamesTooLong I can say that the series was confusing, because I didn't get it. I only got it decades later by repeated viewing, and by other informed, insider commentaries on it. That includes commentary by Patrick McGoohan himself. I was only 11-years-old when the series was first aired, so it helps to have the DVD set. To me, the series seemed quite haphazard at times, because so many concepts were incorporated into its short run.

  • The prisoner was a multi-faceted concept; a fusion of otherwise disperate concepts. With such a broad cenceptual spectrum as its basis, it's little wonder that the prisoner TV series caused so much public confusion.

  • anyone got a link to the final ten minutes of the last episode?

    cheers,

    tom

  • The series is currently being re-run on ITV4 in the UK (for those who didn't know).

I wonder why, when Rachel Herbert took over from Eric Portman as the new No. 2 at the end of 'Free For All', she didn't appear as No. 2 in the following episode.

  • _____He's always got that look on his face like he knows that people are messin' with him. Whatever crackpot madness that Number 1 has planned, The Prisoner is all like, "Okay, I'll go along with this nonsense." No matter how hard they try at their mind-screw antics, he always comes out on top. Me, I'd probably end up takin' a chainsaw to everybody on the island.

  • I want to play

  • Finally get it, my place of work is just like 'The Village'

  • how can it be so crisp?

amazing quality - if only pat mcgoohan could have seen it. but there was no need, he's already done it!

  • i know this series was cut short but does the original series have a finale i watched the remake nd this episode name are the same . not going to spend 50 bucks for a no conclusion series

  • @why760nitro It was not cut short, on the contrary it was a bit longer than intended. McGoohan only wanted 7 episodes, but they had to make 17 in order to sell it to CBS in the US. It was not meant to be a long series a la The Avengers or even Danger Man, but just a short mini series.

  • @snafu And, yes, it does have a conclusion.

  • @why760nitro yes it has a very satisfying conclusion

  • @why760nitro Yes it does have a type of conclusion as "snafu" said. An eccentric one. The new 2009 Prisoner series was simply watchable - but not in the same genious and refined status as the original. No way at all. By now you have probably seen this for yourself. Enjoy.

  • @11a2bdestruct this is gong to be a its a blizzard out side the prisoner marathon this winter ..

  • Wow! So buying this set!
