  • >_> i really wanna know how it bounces....

  • k00l

  • i loved it so good

  • apart from some minor clipping, that is an AMAZING tail. so swishy!!!

  • Lovly and fun video about a dancing fox! ^__^

    Im lovin it! <3

  • uh oh, i have second life too, i'm under the name "ninetales Doghouse"

  • That's a pretty epic tail there! How on earth did you get it to look so smooth, and bounce so much? All the other ones are fluffy, and aren't nearly that awesome.

  • @ZielOmizu It's the same prim-layering technique that's seen in other flexi-tails - in fact, this was the very first usage of that technique, to my knowledge. I applied the alpha-transparency very carefully to each prim in order to match up the "seams" and make the tail appear as one smooth, continuous shape. There's one or two spots in the video where you can see one of the prims de-sync from the rest.

  • Question, how do you film video of your computer screen? O.o

  • @SEXYSHOTGUN I captured it using a program called Fraps - you can download it for free at fraps dot com.

  • i wish my tail could do that ,lol

  • I could do a little better job editing that if you want me to... I am a wizard in Premier Pro...

  • @djdrew11 It's just a silly little video I put together 4 years ago - I never intended it to be anything serious, haha. Thanks for offering, though!

  • are you on crack? if so can i have some? jk XD

  • @smallfuzzy1 drug is bad kid dont do it dont fell in the dark side

  • @dumbtrooper did you not see the "jk" i was jokeing. im not a kid, and i know that drugs are bad.

  • great tail!

  • I made a secondlife. Im reeeeaally wanting to turn my guy into a furry. Could you please give me some tips? I dont even know how to edit the face shape, much less where to go to do that.

  • muevela muevela

  • you look like tails from sonic just without the second tail

  • @SarahTheKeef Haha, I get that a lot :P

  • @TheBeatfox lolz it's only true!

  • lol

  • when u record how did u take the name off ur avatar cause im confused how ppl can do that

  • You can hide your own name on your screen in the preferences, but you can also toggle the entire GUI using Ctrl-Alt-F1 (usually the best solution for recording).

  • @TheBeatfox excuse me but how do u record (im usng viewer 2)

  • @missLAURALOU28 I recorded this using Fraps, then edited it together with an old video editor called Video Factory by SonicFoundry. I haven't tried recording from SL Viewer 2, but Fraps should work just as well with it.

  • @TheBeatfox i hope u wont mind me asking this but how do i record sl with fraps lol ^^; sorry.

  • @missLAURALOU28 You can download Fraps from Fraps dot com, if you haven't already. In addition to the Help feature in the software itself, there's a Support section on the website that answers frequently asked questions.

  • Just curious. Are people who don't have this viewer able to see the flexible sculpts?

  • Well, I made this vid back in 2006, right after flexis were added to SL... and long before sculpties were added! The tail is actually made with 3 tapered flexi-cylinders specially textured to look like one seamless object. They move in unison because they're all the same length and centered at the same position.

Heh, I didn't even realize someone had made a viewer capable of flexi-sculpts until just now when I searched for it. Thanks for bringing that up - that's pretty sweet! :3

  • i like your vid i rate it 5/5 but i cant go on sl cause ive been banned on it they say (the reason was alt account for copying content )

but ive been on osgrid the whole time cause of many people are still trying to ban anywhere i go to

  • haha 8-bit music :P idk about the dance though :/

  • very nice

  • NICE TAAAAAAIL :3

  • is that second life? :)

  • Yup!

  • yes this is secondlife but i suggest not to go on it cuz of the terms of service aint great

you lose your account they dont give you warnings they lock it without a reason or some reason

then they say we are erasing this account cause it has some items that arent bought for example

ive been ip banned on it they said alt account for copying content thats really absurd

so ive been osgrid the same as sl but no payments nothing you can go on it any time .

  • Aww cute ^^

  • it kinda looks like ther useing MSDOS

  • Oooh, i lov that fluffy fox tail. Awesome dance too! I hav 2 get sl.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA TAILS

  • *has to give the tail a huge hug* :P Very cute! If I ever seen you in SL will have to glomp that tail of yours! XD

  • Beat, I commented ages ago about how I liked your music, and this is still one of my favourite tracks.

Thanks for the pointer to the ivory tower. It was a helpful place, and I've actually done some building in SL now, heh... Just an interesting tidbit, there.

  • Cool, glad you were able to learn some new stuff there! And I'm happy you still enjoy my music. :3

  • Very cool vid. the music is cool and i like how ya got the fox to dance like that

  • How did you make the tune?

  • I wrote it 8 years ago in Paragon 5 Gameboy Tracker, a program for making Game Boy Color music. You should be able to find a download link by googling for it (it's freeware).

  • Artie the white arctic fox, my name as a furry, that tail makes the furry fox flow with the grace of a real dancer. The tail is needed to counter the Balance of the furry body. just like the squirrel that walks across a wire.

  • sonic syle fox...

  • you're a better dancer than me :) nice music :P

  • Thanks! And I'm sure you could dance just as good if you used those freebie anims. :3

  • i want to play SL so bad, but my computer won't let it run for some reason. It keeps crashing it :/

  • SL is a pretty demanding application. If you haven't already, though, you might try downloading one of the alternative 3rd party SL clients to see if any of those work for you - there's a list of them at wiki . secondlife . com/wiki/Alternate_viewers. Also, make sure that you have the latest version of your video card drivers - outdated drivers are a common source of glitches & crashes for software that was written for a later version.

  • to bad i cant download bouncer or the other songs i love this one so much i wach this vid alot that tail is soo soo flexy i would love it in rl =^_^=

  • Why can't you download the songs? I just checked my music page and the links are working fine for me. o.o Try it again... maybe the hosting server was on the fritz earlier?

Anyway, glad you like the video! And I actually made that tail in RL as well (though it's not flexy, sadly). ^_^

  • OMG soooo cute! Ive been watching this video forever and still love it! :3

  • Haha! Thanks, Morgrim!

  • I feel like I'm playing a new Sonic games with genisus music but in a good way. I still have one question were and how do you get a furry avitar?

  • You can either try your hand at making one yourself, or you can purchase one from an avatar maker. Either way, Luskwood (in Lusk sim) is a great place to get started - they have a great selection of avatars to choose from, and there's lots of friendly folk who hang around there and are willing to offer aid to aspiring builders.

  • where did you get that avi

  • I made it, back when I joined SL in 2004. I redid the tail to make it flexible in 2006 - this was a video to demonstrate the new tail. :3

  • cute ^^ hehe ,5 * from me !!

  • que curiosa cola

  • Oh. Hey you were the one that made that song? That was one of my favorite gestures in SL at one point :). (I'd always play it off where no one could hear and get annoyed by the spam). I'ma check out your other musics :)

  • est bien chido este zorro. la animacion es como de un video juego

  • Me and my boyfriend use this tail<3 we are constantly complimented on them

  • lol, my nephew told me yesterday that he has a script you made(in TSL) it's the invisoprim script.

  • Haha! That script does seem to get around a lot. :3 I used to distribute it already prepared inside an invisiprim... To this day, I still get people asking me about the high-heel shoes or robot avatars they bought from me (I don't even make those, let alone sell them), and I constantly have to explain to them that my name only shows up in the Creator field because the actual creator of the item used my invisiprim in its construction! XD

  • did you make the tail in blender or is it some other program you made the sculpted texture in?

  • It's actually not a sculpty! Notice that the video was uploaded in May of 2006, long before the addition of sculpties to SL. Moreover, it's not yet possible to make flexible sculpties in SL. :3

All it is is a set of 3 flexible (and 1 non-flexi at the root) tapered cylinders shaped and textured in such a way as to have the appearance of a single, continuous tail form. If you look closely at 0:51, you can see my tail "come apart" for a moment. Yeowch! x.x

  • well could you do some sort of tutorial video that shows us how you made it(cause I would really like to make one of my own, that way my tail doesn't look like a lump)

  • You can find various vendor tails in furry areas of SL (including my own FoxyFlex Tail in the Luskwood General Store) that are designed in this way. If you press Ctrl-Alt-T to turn on Highlight Transparent, you can see for yourself how the basic shapes are put together and textured to create the illusion. I'm afraid I'm not much of a tutorial-maker myself. :P

  • love the flexyness of the tail. it waves in a very nice random motion to your body

  • I can't get over the music, it old school-ness brings back memories of my favorite games.

  • Glad you enjoy it, Acer!

  • :D ME 2s!!!

  • too fawkin cute! <33 great vid! ^__^ -tail wags-

  • cool AV you should copy the tail and put two on to look like Tails from the sonic series. and send me an IM, my user name is Bowser Tigerpaw

  • I actually did just that for Halloween back in 2005. :3

  • nice furry avatar did u find it in a free downloadabl package on second life search,or did it cost real money

  • Neither - I made it myself back in 2004. It was the first thing I created when I joined SL. ^^

  • Woohoo! Lookit you go. :3 Great moves, and splendid music! Hope to catch you online someday.

  • Thanks, Canon! I'm sure we'll catch each other online at some point.

  • nice video, my favorite furry are foxes ^^ and i love the song

  • Thanks! Foxes furrevah :3

  • Beatfox, are you aware of dimpling cylinders? (change to sphere, dimple, change back to cyl)? It may be possible to dimple each prim at a different section to accomplish the same shape as your tail without alpha layering. (Each prim could then use the same texture) I'm not sure if the flexy would be as syched, though.

  • I do know of dimpling cylinders, though I seem to recall that they revert to their non-dimpled form when set to flexi.

  • Looks nice ^_^ there are many avatars like that on SL, and yeah I also prefer flexy tails much more then static ones made out of spheres which look horrible.

  • I'm not an expert or nothing, but damn, that looks good. Nice job!

The ''diddy, diddy, flop, pop'' kinda song is a nice touch as well ^w^.

  • what game is that.

  • Second Life! It's an open-ended virtual environment where the content is created by the users rather than the developers - check it out at secondlife-dot-com.

  • What program do you use for the animations?

  • I can't take credit for the dancing animations; those were freebie anims I picked up from various sources at various times throughout my SL residency. :3

  • I wanna download the song... T_T

  • You can! Check the video info. ^^

  • What the fuck?

  • You are the definiton of awesome with that tail...i couldn't come close.. also i lag..and dont know how to record for crap..XD..but awesome..dont see many tails like that these days despite how cool they are. Whoo Beatfox!!!

  • Okay I officially LOVE that tail.... how the hell did you make it? All fox tails i see are split at the end to make the point which kinda looks funny when you move... but yours is a solid prim!! What shape is it? *is confused* (It doesn't take much to get me confused mind.)

  • It's actually 4 separate cones/cylinders. But Beatfox here made it -very VERY well- so you can't tell. :)

  • Like Adeon said, it is actually 4 prims precisely textured to have the appearance of a single continuous shape. Back when flex prims first came out in 2006, I was spending a lot of time experimenting with them and figuring out how I might be able to position & texture them to make a decent fox-shape tail for my Beatfox avatar (I hadn't seen anyone else come up with a foxy-looking flex tail at that point). This was the result of those experiments. :3

  • hey dude that avs tail is awsome the music background and your av gives it a sonic sortah feel 1000000000000000000/10 good job hey dude oh and anybody wana hangout in sl my user name is Draycko

  • cool where did you get this tail? i love it^^ btw my SL is Mystik Menker!!!

  • I made it 2 years ago, soon after flexible prims were added to SL. Glad you like it, Mystik! :3

  • Love the '' Flop, flop, diddy, flop, pop'' kinda song on the background.. And in advance, no I could keep a straight face writing that description '^^.

Awesome dance too, I can't remember how many times I have come here before and left an comment.. Simply because I cannot resist your flexy tail, hehe..

    Awesome vid, 5/5 well deserved

    ^-^

    >wo

  • Best tail ever! I use it on all my avies

  • That's cool.

  • i've been to that land plenty of times! And... Howd u put that animation on the tail, it works great, wish to know :) awesome script.

  • Thanks, LugiaLightning! The only script I used was one that made the whole tail object twitch on its own periodically - the script's effect is really only noticeable in this video when I'm standing still at the beginning. The overall effect of the flowing tail movement is simply due to its flex prim construction.

  • ah, i see. thank you : D

  • and i think much of the people who commented here know that^^

  • ehm, im pretty sure this is from the game Second Life. There players can edit and build almost anything, including the character ofcourse, which is displayed here

  • Who animated this? I wanna see more of their work *wags tail*

  • Sweet!! fav :D

  • This video rocks! And the animation 2 offcours :P. Wish I hade the talent to make something like that :D!!

  • this is sweet.

  • This reminds me of Tails so much, still, vey cool!

  • lol iknow werwe you are your near a veuhicle sandbox^^

  • ahihahihiahihiahiahihaihaiahiahaihai beatiful fox

  • Aww he's so Cuwte! :3

  • lol reamind me of the sonic charcter

  • O_O THIS IS AWESOME O_O

  • fuckign shoto me

  • YAY! *favs the video and watches it again and again* *dances along with Beatfox* =^^= LOVE IT!

  • man wish i could make an av as awesome as that

  • when i watch this i think of tails

  • Dammit I want made one like that but I'm new in the game and Is hard to me.

  • lol its kinda like tails off of sonic

  • I never claimed to have much of a first life in the first place - even *before* SL. :P In all honesty, though, I view SL as an extension of RL, not as an escape from it. SL provides me with the opportunity to try things that would be much more difficult or impossible by other means, such as designing and building fun things that people can view and interact with on a large scale (as they interact with each other, as well).

  • how'd u do that? O_O

  • That was awesome :D

  • wut u use to make this?

  • I built the avatar within Second Life itself, and I used Paint Shop Pro to design the avatar textures. The footage was recorded using Fraps, and the video was edited in VideoFactory. The dance animations are not mine - they're freebies that I've gotten from various sources in Second Life.

  • cool im gonna try second life to

    i love furries

    5/5 and fav

  • lol nice sounds like sonic

  • umm i did you just use scooby doo outfit feet?

  • Nah, I made all the avatar components myself back in 2004 (with the flexi-tail replacing previous tail designs later on). The feet are fairly simple, to go with the cartoony style of the character. :3

  • you're cute.

you look like dragon ball Z style tails!

    GO FOXES!!

    ...although wolves are better. XD

  • you saposed to represent a videogame character in this?

  • It's my own character, Beatfox, that I originally came up with 9 years ago and have modified at various points in time. I made my Beatfox avatar when I joined SL over 3 years ago, and aside from occasional small updates (such as the flexitail), it's remained relatively unchanged since then.

  • I see. I just thought maybe Beatfox was from a game of some kind because of the soundtrack you chose. Some people who re-create a videogame character in such a way sometimes include a soundtrack that's related to them.

Anyway, nice to meet you Beatfox. :)

  • How'd you do that? O_O

  • :3 You've got yourself quite a good AV there, Beat. I'd love to see you inside Second life!

  • Man, even the regular dance moves look better with a proper swishy tail x3 I finally broke down and installed it. But I can't figure out how to do jack and have no money xD

  • Were can I find the song this rocks!!!

  • awesome! 5/5 & favs :D

  • WOW, good job Beatfox! ^^ I bought my fox 'cause i'm not so good in building. But it's a very nice nws fox ^^ watch?v=SddQrR9tRjo

  • omg! you look like tails :)

  • I've often wandered about avatar creation in sl...There is very little info on the web that I've been able to find.

  • If you know how to build, and you're decent with image editors such as Photoshop, you can make primitive-based avatars. A good way to learn the techniques of avatar making is simply by observing other people's work. Buy a moddable av, take it apart, and see what makes it tick. :3

  • i always wondered too thanks for the info!

  • ok can you tell me exactly you made this i got photoshop nothing for 3D modeling and programming but anything would help

  • Are you asking how I made my avatar? It consists of objects that attach to the default human avatar. Those objects are created using the SL in-world building tools - check out an SL location called the Ivory Tower Library of Primitives in the sim of Natoma for everything you need to know about building. As for the textures, I did those in Paint Shop Pro.

  • The more creative types, however, tend to view SL as a great outlet for their creative expression and an opportunity for collaboration with like-minded creators. People with skills in 3D modeling, programming, Photoshop, character animation, or any combination thereof can put those skills to use as they make content in Second Life. If they get good at what they do, they can even start earning a bit of RL cash. :)

  • And Second Life is really what you make it. If you expect to find pre-packaged entertainment like most people are accustomed to finding in traditional games, you'll definitely be disappointed.

  • I didn't pay a thing for that avatar - I made it myself. :)

  • Cute lol

  • cOoL..

i think its better if the fox dancing nude

    lmao

  • bouncer

  • hahaha! It doesn't get much better then an animated fox dancing!lol

  • Shake that thang! xD

  • hehe Zay likes >^.^<

  • x33 wtf

  • New from Splentendo! It's SL DANCE FEVER! -:D

  • hahahahahahahahhaahh NOOB

  • how cute! and the music is so cool

  • That's cute :3

Pretty good job with the model, specially the tail but overall too. All the motion is really well tunned. And nice dance scripts XD

  • thats sooo cute!

  • Is that one prim or two? If thats one prim you must show me how to do this please XD

  • You tell 'em, Lou.

  • EXTREMELY well put together! You seem to have some kick-tail hardware there. ^.^

  • Oh you made it. :P Nevermind.

  • Dude, I MUST know what song this is. It sounds like something from a videogame, but I can't put my finger on it. Also, that's an awesome tail. I saw your vendor in-game. :)

  • Excellent sync up! Great job, Fox!

  • cool, liked the music, lol i just decided to go ahead and try second life out after i seen this, but it was going so slow on my computer i couldnt even move right, sooo i was just wonderin, do you know what i would have to do to improve that on a computer? Sorry ta ask ya, but i dont know anything about computers except how to use one, lol

  • wtf computer do you have sl is so laggy on my comp

although my downstairs one is even slower than my laptop

and i have a question did you make your flexi tail or did you buy it?

any who like the music and i love the tail

  • Thanks for the compliments! And the system I had at the time was of decent quality, but the one factor that really helped was that I was in a relatively empty area. Less avatars, less objects, less of a strain on your compy.

I made the tail back in April or May of last year. At the time, people were saying there wasn't really any way to do a complex shape like a fox-tail using flex prims... so I decided to come up with one. I think it worked out fairly well. :3

  • yeah i really like it btw could you tell mer how you got the shape of the tail becaise i know how to make it flexi the only way i can think of is using 2 prims but it dosent work that way

  • also what is your second life name i would like to add you to my friends list

  • Great work with the tail!!! great!!!

Can you show me how to create a tails like that?! please!!!

    BTW, nice fox avatar!!! ^_^

  • Jeez, how many furphobes must have shot at that poor little guy? ; o ;
