My GOD! That 1986 intro must be one of the most beautiful pieces of improvised guitar playing I know. Got me a red guitar NOW WHERE CAN I FIND ME A MIAMI VICE SUIT!!!
Hey there, watch this brilliant acoustic cover of Eric Clapton’s- Layla, with an awesome bass line. youtube.com/watch?v=Fcd5jEUvLZs. Thanks leave a comment.
That's my definition of a dream team! People from completely different musical and cultural backgrounds, learning with each other, working with each other, respecting each other, complementing each other - to perfection! That's a perfect example how the world should be!
I agree...the best live Layla by far...I'm a Clapton fanatic (Derek and the Dominoes Live - his best live recorded performances career-wise - get the old vinyl version, it has a great version of WDMLGTBSS, much better than the CD - the rest is the same on both and amazing) and this version of Layla is Clapton phrasing and beautiful touch at its best - he's one of a kind...
A great drummer makes a difference and Phil Collins has to be one of the best drummers I've ever heard. Great song, great performance, the kind of music you'd wish the next generation will search for on their 2 inch cybertablets. Wish Eric played on his black guitar for this one though :P
best song ever, one of the best best interpretation by clapton best drummer of eric : phil collins best breaks in the world, best tom's sound best drummer with clapton !! best drummer for me , improvisatio,n feeling, he follows each notes of clapton PHIL COLLINS the hero !the legend! my hero richard kolinka , copeland, simon philipps and manu katché are very good too but chester thompston and phil are great with big feeling, touch, best playling with manu katché
This really brings back memories. I saw Clapton/Collins live in Indianapolis in the mid-late 80's and for me was the most fabulous concert ever. Great version of my fav Clapton tune too.
5:11 the beautiful Greg Phillinganes piano playing, then those unmistakeable Phil Collins drums come in and the whole band plays the instrumental part - like clockwork. Awesome! Epic! I love it how these guys enjoy what they are doing.

In my opinion, this is the best Layla solo ever. Might be Clapton's best tone ever too.
