I was just in a 35 mhp offset crash in my 2008 F-150 vs a Mazda minivan that ran a stop sign. My truck now looks exactly like the one in this vid. I was able to walk away with minor airbag injuries to my arms (I had instinctively reached up to blow the horn when the airbag deployed). The minivan occupants went to the hospital via ambulance.

I own a 2007 F-150 and would love to have one of the new ones with the 3v 4.6L, the sweet 6spd tranny, and 21mpg. Ford is doing really well with their cars too. The new mustang is great as was the last gen. The Fusion and Taurus, esp. the SHO, are also great.
Ford has also made some real garbage in the past like the 90s Taurus with the anemic and unreliable 3.0L and 3.8L with the third world 4spd auto.

in this crash it doesn't move much, but in really severe crashes it's designed to go down and out. Meaning, it drops down so it doesn't intrude on the passengers.

what? a 4.6 outpulls a 4.8 and the 5.4 outpulls the 5.3 Hell even the earliest 5.4s made as much torque as the newest 5.3s. Chevy v8s are weak for their size, why you think chevy offers a 6.2 and ford only goes up to 5.4?
the spark plug issue has been resolved. Need i mention the piston slap that chevrolets are known for? As for the mpg, having a longer stroke ( as the 5.4 does) creates more torque than a short one (5.3) This also make it less fuel efficient.

As for MPG what you say in theory is correct, but it's not the only variable. In fact, before the 3V heads, the 5.4L only had 10ft/lb more of torque than the GM 5300, which isn't significant.
ture, while 10 ft lbs isnt much, its the rpm at wich its made. 5.4 mades that at 2500 rpms while the 5.3 made its max at around 4500. But that is a moot point
Everything else being equal, motors of similar displacement have very similar torque curves.
5.3L vs 5.4L is only a 1.8% difference in displacement. Most gas motors will be making 95% of its peak torque at 2000rpm anyways, even if it peaks at 4500rpm.
If everything were equal but there not. The 5.4 is underbore while the 5.3 is, I believe, overbore. the difference in stroke is what makes for the difference in the torque. As far as the last part goes, I dont know if i agree with that. Il have to look further into it.
Compared to the 97-03 this looks a lot better. Also, most of the impact is on the truck since it is hitting an object that doesnt move. If it was hitting another vehicle it wouldnt be so devastating. Glad I have an 07 and not an 03, after looking at this.

we have an '07 f-150 5.4L XLT and an 'o8 4.6L XL. both are fantastic trucks and can take anything. the 4.6 was a real surprise when we got it, because it was to replace our '03 e-350 to save gas. not only did it get 23 MPG, but it has a 6,500 lb tow rating. i mean come on, 6500 lbs for a little v-8 like that? and it has TONS of power i did a burnout an accident my first time driving it lol. both are great trucks. even our '03 was a great truck except the crash test. i will always stay ford.

Only issue we have ever had with all of these vehicles was when the dealership one time put twice the needed amount of motor oil in my 4runner, fixed it right away no harm done.Just saying, some will always be fan boys no matter what the quality and actuality of the car/truck is.Try other brandsfirst

i agree with everyone else who replyed back to kiro the great. tundras are not safer, and a truck is not about 0-60, its about capability and how much it can haul/tow, and how strong the bed of the truck is connected to the frame. and if u havent heard the news. fords quality is equal to toyota, on the new ford flex, and expeditions, and all fords redesigns models have now passed toyotas quality. its a start for toyota, but they should stick to making grandma sedans.
The new F150's are very strong, i've seen one go through 2 concrete barriers and into someones yard then snapping their useless KIA in half and worst on the F150 that needs to be fixed are the headlights, grill, fix the small warp on the hood and spray the front side of the truck. Actually the F150 is also assembled in Cuautitlan, Mexico, Kansas City, MO, Norfolk, VA, and Valencia, Venezuela.
The Tundra is actually manufactured in San Antonio, TX and until 2009 it was also in Princeton, IN.

I own a 2007 F-150 and would love to have one of the new ones with the 3v 4.6L, the sweet 6spd tranny, and 21mpg. Ford is doing really well with their cars too. The new mustang is great as was the last gen. The Fusion and Taurus, esp. the SHO, are also great.
Ford has also made some real garbage in the past like the 90s Taurus with the anemic and unreliable 3.0L and 3.8L with the third world 4spd auto.

So when they play it back on the Slow Motion cameras, they can see how 'Quickly' the car came to a complete stop. The longer it takes for the wheel to stop, the better protection it gives to the Occupants in-side.

in this crash it doesn't move much, but in really severe crashes it's designed to go down and out. Meaning, it drops down so it doesn't intrude on the passengers.

Yes, but the chevy smallblock motors spank ford's modular V8 for MPG. Also, the 4.6 and 5.4L have reliability issues with shooting out spark plugs.

the spark plug issue has been resolved. Need i mention the piston slap that chevrolets are known for? As for the mpg, having a longer stroke ( as the 5.4 does) creates more torque than a short one (5.3) This also make it less fuel efficient.

As for MPG what you say in theory is correct, but it's not the only variable. In fact, before the 3V heads, the 5.4L only had 10ft/lb more of torque than the GM 5300, which isn't significant.

Everything else being equal, motors of similar displacement have very similar torque curves.
5.3L vs 5.4L is only a 1.8% difference in displacement. Most gas motors will be making 95% of its peak torque at 2000rpm anyways, even if it peaks at 4500rpm.

If everything were equal but there not. The 5.4 is underbore while the 5.3 is, I believe, overbore. the difference in stroke is what makes for the difference in the torque. As far as the last part goes, I dont know if i agree with that. Il have to look further into it.

Compared to the 97-03 this looks a lot better. Also, most of the impact is on the truck since it is hitting an object that doesnt move. If it was hitting another vehicle it wouldnt be so devastating. Glad I have an 07 and not an 03, after looking at this.

What makes the F-150 a POS? Actually what makes any truck today a POS? Any full size truck today will do everything a person ever needs to do and more. They all can tow/haul more than ever before, they all can do things much better than ever before possible in the full size truck arena. Also they are all more reliable than ever before. Hey if you are going to run a vehicle into a wall I guess the 2004 and newer F-150 would be the one to do it with because it seems to excel at safety.

we have an '07 f-150 5.4L XLT and an 'o8 4.6L XL. both are fantastic trucks and can take anything. the 4.6 was a real surprise when we got it, because it was to replace our '03 e-350 to save gas. not only did it get 23 MPG, but it has a 6,500 lb tow rating. i mean come on, 6500 lbs for a little v-8 like that? and it has TONS of power i did a burnout an accident my first time driving it lol. both are great trucks. even our '03 was a great truck except the crash test. i will always stay ford.

Im an autobroker and just had a customer come back with 168k miles on an 05 FX4 that was in the dirt and mud all day pulling trailers. Still about the toughest half ton pickup money can buy.

It gets her to and from school and the mall so I guess it does its job. I currently own a 08' tundra, and my mom has a 08' sequoia, and have previously had an 05 4runner, 02 sequoia, 05 lexus gx470. Only issue we have ever had with all of these vehicles was when the dealership one time put twice the needed amount of motor oil in my 4runner, fixed it right away no harm done.Just saying, some will always be fan boys no matter what the quality and actuality of the car/truck is.Try other brandsfirst

Wnna know why the f-150 is the best selling? BECAUSE of the low quality and materials it takes to make them. The low quallity the product the more you can make to save money. While on the other hand some manufactuers acctually atke time in there vehicle and build it in high quiallity to last a while. AND THE F-150 IS NOT THE BEST CRASH TESTED VEHCICLE!!!! Its close but not there yet. The tundra is consider the safest truck on the road. And did i forget the most powerful too?!?! f150=not best.

i agree with everyone else who replyed back to kiro the great. tundras are not safer, and a truck is not about 0-60, its about capability and how much it can haul/tow, and how strong the bed of the truck is connected to the frame. and if u havent heard the news. fords quality is equal to toyota, on the new ford flex, and expeditions, and all fords redesigns models have now passed toyotas quality. its a start for toyota, but they should stick to making grandma sedans.
