Wow, I'm impressed - I thought emo-punk, pop-punk and such bands to be completely ignorant towards music of 60's and 70's and I was wrong. Really nice cover, original being better, though :)
i was once embarassed to admit that i like the new panic at the disco (nine in the afternoon, that green gentleman, etc.) because of how bad their old stuff is, but i really like the fact that they're playing more folky roots type of stuff, and i think this was a good song for them to cover based on the direction they're heading.
it annoys me that no one there knew the song, or cheered when he announced it. but that's probably because they're all 14.
This is a passable cover. I think he's trying too hard, especially when he goes high. Levon Helm's voice made the original. They shouldn't try to top him.

i feel like this is panic at the disco's weak attempt to gain respect among fans of actual legitimate music.
clearly im going to get thumbed down by all the 14 year old girls watching this video..or those just wearing pants made for 14 year old girls.. but thats my opinion.
and please don't tell me not to watch it or comment if i don't like it. because then what would be the point of being able to comment if you can't even express different opinions.
my personal opinion: it sounds like they were trying to break their pop punk image by broadening their horizons&fanbase, &doing something classic. &thats fine if you try&add an interesting unique spin to it, but all that was added was a whiny voice. i feel like there really wasnt any feeling&it was a completely arbitrary cover. it sounded like they took the song&just put it through a panic at the disco song machine generator&it sounds very unorginal&generic. like most pop punk covers.
they are saying annie, when its fanny. AND they left a whole part out, "crazy chester followed me and caughtme and the fog", i dont feel like typing the rest what a horrible cover
no it proves when they have a brilliant song already written for them; they can do a respectable cover..... like every other band and their half their roadies.

yea i am alienated. i loved that they were weird and original, but now that they're getting 'influenced'....they're just like every other wannabe band.
I think what he meant by that is all the twelve year old girls who liked them for being mainstream emo with good lyrics will be intimidated by the new album because it's very infused with the Beatles.
Panic at the Disco is not by far "like every other wannabe band." Their ability to make this song their own while keeping its integrity shows that.
panic has always listened to stuff like the beatles and stuff like that but i know they listen to bands like third eye blind also. the new stuff and old stuff is just a by product of what those two genres thrown together can create. it doesnt make them another wannabe band u idiot. if u wrote music u would understand that ur influences naturally show whether you want them to or not
to be influenced and to copy are 2 different things. i'm sure what they listen to influences them, it has to, but all i'm saying is their first album was like nothing i've ever heard before....and i've heard pretty. odd. before.....or atleast stuff that sounds exactly like it.
do u write music? cuz seriously being in the same genre doesnt mean copying. your influences show through your music. an exact copy would be if recorded themselves covering a beatles album. panic as just influenced. there music just falls under the same genre as the stuff their influenced by thats all
no, i don't write music at all, i wish i could though. obviously being in the same genre doesn't mean copying but i have to say...their first album was so original that it barely fell under a specific genre. everyone called it a different thing. that's what i loved about it. it was so different that you couldn't even classify it. but this album, i feel like its not different enough from the beatles.
idk i feel like there first album was really good but i mean i think i could easy classify it as like a poppy emo. like i mean theyve always been a poppy band, i bet if u added the synthesizers to pretty. odd., it would have more of a sound of there last album. this new cd is just more refined and stripped down. that doesnt make it a bad thing cuz there really strong writers
they are really strong writers. i still don't see why people would ever classify them as emo.....2 songs on fever were clearly ''emotional'' and sad. but seriously...time to dance, better if you do...emo??? as for poppy, now that i think of it, maybe a little, but more techno...ish. but if they were so good back then, i just don't understand why they would change SO much. i mean, 'try new things' but take it easy!!!
obviously from the thumbs down and crap there are some people who didnt like this performance, obviously they dont know anything because this is amazing.i love it.
thumbs down this alll you want i dont care i think they are amazing!
oh my god. i had NO IDEA they could rock harder than they did! this is the very definition of the word amazing, they've really matured from their last album as i can tell from the other videos you posted, this cover and their new songs are awesome.
Wow! His voice really has changed. I mean...he was good before but this is just amazing!!! I so can't wait for the actual album to come out it will be amazing! I downloaded this and I am going to be watching it for hours upon hours!!

Definitely. I LOVE this song though! The original version of course. Actually, I like the version from The Last Waltz the best.

I also hate Panic at the Disco, but this is a nice cover. At least they didn't try to do anything outrageous with it.

my respect for these guys went up like 75% just because most bands these days wouldnt ever cover this song at a popular show like this
makeitska 3 years ago 3
wow they totally left out this whole part!!
Crazy Chester followed me, and he caught me in the fog.
He said, "I will fix your rags, if you'll take Jack, my dog."
I said, "Wait a minute, Chester, you know I'm a peaceful man."
He said, "That's okay, boy, won't you feed him when you can."
Catch a Cannonball, now, to'take me down the line
My bag is sinkin' low and I do believe it's time.
To get back to Miss Annie, you know she's the only one.
Who sent me here with her regards for everyone.
