I was having this problem with my ps3. It would take the disc but not make a sound like it clicked into place. Beep thrice and spit the disc back out. Here's the crazy part: I turned it upside down and inserted the disc (idk why) and it's completely fine. PM me if you try this and it fixes yours haha!

the best thing i can think of is not fixing it , just sell it to a store cus its useless now and sooner or later ur gonna get the ylod or something might brake inside ect and them theirs multiply problems now, then u have to sell it cheaper, i know ur gonna get ripped off but wants better a broken ps3 or money? save the money and try to gt urself a ps3 slim, BEST advice EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats strange where do I get one of those? my ps3 got a PSP UMD disc jammed in the disc drive because of my little brother and the motor was working fine before I took it apart. Now it won't work can the motor just stop working in that time or is it something else wrong?
My ps3 won't accept discs at all it won't suck them in. Plz help I don't know whats wrong already took it apart but I can't tell whats wrong with it.

I press the 2 clips down like you saind and nothing. also, when I put in a disc the blue lights blink a few times . Sounds like the motor to you still? If so I will grab one on ebay. Thanks man, let me know if this fixed it for you. Took me months (4 or 5) to figure out what was wrong before I got mine fixed due to a lack of relevant videos and solutions.
That's not the same thing mine was doing. What I did notice in your video was that you did not have the disc sensor connected. It's a two part system where the disc sensor and disc insertion motor work together. To tell if your disk sensor is faulty, look at it through your cell phone or regular camera and it should show blue infrared light. Your insertion motor seems fine it will be something else faulty.
Check out Junker15's videos on how to properly put the blu-ray drive back together. You may have lost a spring somewhere. I learned a lot from his videos which ultimately led me to figuring out my problem. He also has a vid on the disc sensor check. Also, was this a problem before you took it apart, or after trying to put it back together.
Try putting the disc halfway in and when the system is off (red light). And then turn it on, it may (should ) pull it in when you turn the system on an if it gets stuck at that point you didn't put it back together properly (or something is still messed up) Junker15 has that solution.
Upon further analysis, you need a new disc sensor. It'll cost you less than 10 bucks on ebay. The buttons on the insertion drive board are the second step in taking in the disk. The disruption of the infrared light is a trigger for the entire system to begin taking in the disk. It's the process of the light interuption and the board triggers at the same time that will ultimately pull in the disk. Clean the infrared receiver on the drive board this is a hot spot for fingerprints.
@tednya By the way thanks for all the help, but I bought a new sensor and it just came in today. After installing that the drive still spins the motor at startup like it has a bad disc sensor so I'm beginning to think I might have bigger problems (like the drive control board).
I never found an official name for the part, but here is what it was called in my ebay auction: PS3 BLU-RAY DRIVE MOTOR PART and SENSOR RECEIVER BOARD AND DRIVE MECHANISM MOTOR or Blu-Ray drive Motor. The seller was timfrohwein and he's out of the UK. It took a week to get the part from him. I will tell you, I did look high and low before I found the part on ebay. I did see it on some off-brand computer sites but I didn't trust them with my CC.
