  • I just bought the Extreme dvd (download off the website) and I love it. Awesome format too, lots of quick lessons that get right to the point and are great fun. Thanks for making a great set, I'll be buying the others no doubt.

  • What cymbals are those?

  • His toms sound so sick

  • I see, it's not vanzdrumming , it's Wans Kenobing!))) May the Force be with you!

  • ...between this and a four stroke roll? Why make it technical instead of just saying you're doing four straight hits?

  • @MrCoolTre This has 3 notes per beat, the fourth is the 1st note of the next beat. A 4 stroke has 4 notes per beat, the first note of the next beat is not included. You will notice the difference in sound and feel if you play them to a metronome or steady beat.

  • might be a stupid question, but what's the difference ber

  • listen bud screw the haters, ur good

  • omfg his drum sounds soooooo nice!! ooh and i must have that dvd!:o

  • 17 people r deaf

  • What kind of heads do you have on your toms? Sound real meaty!

  • Your toms sound really nice, and sometimes the fills sound like your doing herta's haha.

  • @MgsManiac97 they sound like midi drums.. are you kidding?? i like when there is a lower, more agressive sound to the toms/snare

  • @jackwontknow1 i like lower too cause i play alot of metal so the deeper sound meshes better with garbage... and idk, i think the toms sound good. plus for as long as this guys been playing id say he knows what hes doing and tuned them right... maybe your ears are bad XD just messing man. its all in a matter of opinion.

  • @MgsManiac97 yeah they just sound a little dry, that is probably what I was trying to say. They are tuned right though.

  • isnt this also called a three four roll?

  • @drummaniac7 nah man this is basically a slowed down 4 stroke ruff

  • 1:18 - 1:20 hahahahahahahaha

  • any tips on tuning the kit?

  • NO WAY!!... IS ZAP BRANIGAN! xDDD....

  • sooo what is the difference between quadruplets and 16th note triplets? i know im a total loser when it comes to music theory

  • @jinzodude In a quadruplet all four notes are evenly weighted (4 32nd Notes) and two of them would fit into one beat (8 32nds to one beat)...16th note triplets are six to a beat..basically doubling up on a triplet (Think One by Metallica..the Darkness Riff section)..he's taking half of a sixlet (half a beat..the 1-trip-let part) and playing an eighth note at the end (the &)

Hope that helped..no clue if it made sense though haha

  • @KaitouBloodrayne not really (except the metallica reference which kinda helped) oh well...i'm probably going to take a music theory class next semester anyways :/

  • cool

  • great

  • one of the nicest sounding drum set ive ever heard. can u come tune my shit? lol

  • Comment removed

  • you should really think about making a drum solo vid i bet it would sound awsome

  • omg your toms sound sooooooooooo goood !

  • 2:39 loll

  • to all the people who keep asking about the tuning of drums in these type of videos, its not all about the tuning. it also has a LOT to do with the type of microphones used to record the video, if any of the frequencies has been modified in any way, the accoustics of the room the video is being recorded in, the wood the drums are made of (and thickness), and the list goes on. Hope this opens some eyes. not trying to be mean, but take these into account before getting your hopes up.

  • hahaha @ 2:06

great vid and ncie drum sound, thanks for the lesson.

  • @ahmedeus hell yea man that shit made me laugh too...

  • how much did your kit cost OMG!!!!

  • TOPS!

  • 2:37 mentally he just yelled "FUCK!"

  • thanks your helping a guy relearn sticking techniques . 35 years since I had a set.

  • Finally! A guy that does videos exactly for what I need to do! This guy kicks ass!

  • nice triple stroke 4's

  • I really enjoy 16th note triplets as well, I always seem to play different variations....I can't help it haha! Awesome drumming RVP!!!!

  • How did you get to play drums to earn a living? What kinds of things did you do as a teenager or in college to help yourself? I hear it's very hard to be a full-time drummer and I'm just wondering if you have any tips to help me make this a career.

  • i've been doing this fill without even knowing what it's called.

  • what snare skin are you using?

  • lol "I got kinda excited there, sorry" Sick drumming bro

  • can i find this dvd at gee tar center lol

  • @MrGm15

No, but you can get it at vanzdrumming com

  • not my cup of tea, still a good drummer tho :D

  • most of what he's playing is in a quad.

  • Be my drum teach plz O_O

  • Evans EC2 Coated. RVP

    vanzdrumming com

  • i love those snares they sound great and ur awesome

  • Are those EC2 Hazy or something on those toms? they sound great

  • I love those toms , i have the exact same rack shown in the vid, its amazing, i just dont have the for lack of a better word, infrastructure to mount my toms like that

  • hes so good

  • reminded me a lot of Sheila E.'s 808 Kate drum solo.

  • Was würde ich geben um einmal auf so einem super gestimmten Schlagzeug spielen zu dürfen... Einfach spitze!

  • 2:36 lmao. tht was so freakn funny. was he demonstratin silent beats?

  • awesome. neil peart uses this technique a lot in his drumming. thanks man you've helped me a lot drumming. maybe you can check out my videos sometime?

  • oh and another thing. a lot of us learned to read music by sounding it out in our heads, so he's calling it "1-trip-let-and" and playin a beat for each sylable. im probably just confusing the hell out of you. sorry

  • These are 16th note triplets each with the value of an 8th note. (2 parts of a beat) These are not quarter note triplets.

    RVP

    vanzdrumming com

  • @vansdrumming I have good control over single strokes with speed & endurance i just have trouble being fluid around the kit any tips?

  • WELL i guess a triplet doesnt have to be played at the start of a quarter know but that was the best way i could explain it. if i got more into it i would just start confusing everyone, including myself :0

  • @meachdaddy note* not know !!!

  • leontank ...he's refering to them as triplets because that is what the beat is called on a sheet of music, or in a music bar. He is playin in 4/4 time. There are 4 quarter notes in one bar. a triplet is played at the start of a quarter note, thus you could fit 4 sets of triplets in one bar in 4/4 time. i know that probably sounds confusing. if you go look up some general music information online i think youll be able to understand it a little better.i hope that helps :op

  • im a beginner. can someone tell me why they're called triplets. thanks.

  • @leontanko

    4/4 beat

3 notes in one bar, 4 bars in one beat.

    The 3 notes are triplets!

  • what a funny and skilled man, i wish he were my teacher

  • pretty cool... I like what this guy is doing... If he broke down stuff just a tad more.. and maybe added some more technique with his solos...i would consider his dvd.. I just dont think anyone touches jojo's or tommy igoes dvds especially the new one thats comin out

  • totally agree! i cant wait for the new hand dvd from igoe.. i live relatively close to nyc should reallly get out and see him... hes simply the best.. he seems like such a compassionate, caring, guy from his dvds

  • such a nice sounding kit

  • Too funny!

  • hahaha 2:06 too funny

  • rofl 2:05

  • You are all overlooking the most important piece of the puzzle. His electronics are top shelf. Anyone can buy and tune a set of drums to sound good. His recording equipment is top of the line and the acoustics of that room also play into that sweet sound.

If you put him and that kit in a garage with cheap microphones it would sound lime the rest of you tube!! LOL

  • those are Evans ec2 coated about 30 dollars a piece or so they won't make your set sound as good as his tho he's got an extremely high end kit randy how does it feel to have the best sounding kit on YouTube?

  • so each of the drums heads are $100 dollars or that is the whole set?

  • for the whole set.

  • Finally mastering these! took a while but it feels so very good. specially when from rack tom to snare and back, oooh yea.and down from rt3 to the floor tom

I saw you were using singles, and is it ur wrist or fingers? Because i saw in another one of your videos that you said to mostly use your wrist.. i could've misunderstood though.
