Jailbreak iTouch using QuickPwn 2.1

when i try to restore my ipod to the 2.1 firmware, it won't restore it and it just says its incompatible. i tried restoring it when it was in dfu and restore mode. any help?

Are you trying to go back from 3.0?

Also, make sure that you have the right version of the firmware for your device.

Try restoring it. Or, hold down the home and power buttons at the same time till it turns off, and then turn it back on.

can anyone PLEASE help me with my ipod touch i jailbroke it and i was doing that thing where you can hide your apps. but what happened was i think i hide all the apps and now it wont go to the home page? like it even wont go to the slide to open..i tried to restore the ipod but it keeps on trying to restart(reboot) to the page. all i see is the pineapple? so if anyone knows how to fix it please message me!

when you turn it on for the first time, i noticed that it is a pineapple. does it stay like tht for every time that you turn it off or on?

Yes, unless you change the boot logo in the QuickPwn file, deselect change boot logos in QuickPwn, or you use LogoMe to change it.

ok i need some help...

im trying to jailbreak my itouch. it's version 2.1.1 (5F138) i downloaded firmware 2.1 nd quickpwn

but when i open quickpwn nd go to the 2nd step i try to browse for my firmware that i DL and when i open it it shows a loading thing nd then it stops loading nd does nothing. there is no nxt button.the picture of the itouch on the side doesnt show up.

can you help?

I'll post back here just in case anyone else is having the same issue ;)

What you need to do is make sure that your device is connected, and that it isn't the 2nd generation iTouch. That is not currently jailbreakable (keep your eyes peeled for RedSn0w!). Also, make sure that your iPod currently has the 2.1.1 firmware on it while you are using QuickPwn. QuickPwn isn't for upgrading your iTouch/iPhone, it's for jailbreaking the firmware that it's currently using.

yea i have the same problem as doorisclosing, it is the exact firmware file i restored it with but it doesn't do anything, any help?

Make sure that you're only using pre-3.0 firmwares. You can use RedSn0w to jailbreak the 3.0 firmware (even on the first gen iTouch).

Yes it can.

Download the unjailbroken firmware to your computer, connect your iPod, open up iTunes, and do this:

Shift + Click "Restore" (in iTunes)

Your iPod will be restored to the selected firmware.

You can check your firmware by doing this:

On your iPod, do this:

Settings>General>About

And you'll find your firmware version in there.

1.1, 2.2, 2.1, 2.0, etc. are all different versions of firmwares. 2.0+ firmwares have the AppStore, as well as Cydia and Installer (if they're jailbroken). 1.1.x series firmwares don't have the AppStore, but you can get Cydia and Installer on them (if they're jailbroken).

What do you mean, browse the firmware? You mean look at the filesystem and stuff (like through OpenSSH on your computer)? I suggest getting Finder or iCommander from Cydia. Very nice little apps.

When i try doing the firmware part. I use 2.0.1 so I choose that firmware version from my desktop, and i wait. when its finish loading it says: firmware error string, help?

Is the 2.0.1 firmware you are trying to select the firmware that is on your device? If not, then it won't work. It has to be the DEFAULT firmware (IE: The original 2.0.1 firmware, not a WinPwn custom firmware or something). Otherwise it won't work.

The firmware that I use in this video is 2.1, but the process is the same for 2.0-2.2.

The firmware that you are trying to jailbreak should already be on your device. QuickPwn is NOT a firmware upgrader, just a firmware jailbreaker. So if you wanted to jailbreak 2.1, you would need to get the 2.1 firmware onto your device, and then use QuickPwn to jailbreak it.
