  • is this made in china?

  • No, Korea

  • im sure its made in china

    although iriver is korean company

  • everything is made in china cuz the workers get paid like 2 dollars an hour

  • LOL, almost everything is made in china, its like saying the sun is bright

  • wow wonder girls !! lol

  • I have the Iriver clix 2,around 100 dollars, and it looks better,at least for me

  • I used to have irver clix2 not clix+ and i lost it like 4months ago

  • Yes, it has!

  • IT HAS TOUCHSCREEN?????

  • It does.

  • i want to buy one but i heard that the headphones jack is different from others is it true?

  • yay i read about it, it haz stereo bluetooth!!!!!!!!!

i would much rather get this than an ipod touch, i can get a netbook for internet(or an archos) but never an icr*p

  • I would get own if it had wifi...Or if the TV tuner thing worked in the states. Sheesh, why do asians always get the better electronics.

  • rofl commented on the wrong video

  • quality vs quantity

s9 quality (video, audio, battery, etc)

    or

ipod touch quantity (wifi, games, apps, etc)

    hmmmmmmmm...

  • Too bad iriver's not that good on touchscreens interfaces.

But I love it, and i'll love iriver anyway <3

  • iriver spinn vs cowon s9...

    who would win?...

  • if no price mattered, the s9 hands down.

  • agreed

  • i want that so bad... :[

    korea rules at electronics

    대한민국!

  • 바탕화면과 테마를 바꿀수 있죠? 보통 아이리버들은 다 테마랑 바탕화면을 원하는 사진으로 바꿀수 있는데 스핀도 그렇죠?

  • 아 되는군요 ㅋㅋㅋ 다 보지도 않고 코멘트를해서;;

  • iriver is so much better than an Ipod. Itunes is such a gimic

  • Crave UK got their hands on a spinn and wrote their own FULL REVIEW at:

    reviews-cnet-co-uk/digitalmusic/0,39029995,49298485,00-htm (just replace "-" with ".")

i think its clearly above average, but it could have been a lot better

(sorry about that last comment. ive been having some posting problems. apparently you cant post URL's)

  • ya I couldn't post with a link too, didn't post at all.

    Thanks for that link!!

So apparently 16GB is on its way with rumors of 32GB. still, won't get it cuz it's just enough from iRiver. the AMOLED screen alone is tempting though..

  • asdf

  • All other problems are software related. One of the most crucial problems is that when SPINN plays the next song while option menu from other features except music is being used, the option feature does not work. If a "back" button is pressed, the screen shows "now playing". I'm sure all da software related problems can be fixed by a couple of firmwares.

The funny thing is that I do not have SPINN and I talk like a person who owns it.

  • You're quite right about yourself...

I'll check the bug with the Spinn users in Korea and reply back to you.

  • I confirmed that the bug is real...

    You're a ghost hovering around Spinn or something... ;;

Anyway, Spinn only released for pre-orders, so I believe bugs will be fixed as it goes on to real release.

  • I do a lot of reading. It's good when ppl know their electronics and actually care about what goes into it and how it functions and sounds... unlike iPOOS

  • yeah, waiting wouldn't hurt, but I wanna get my hands on SPINN ASAP.

The one that people are complaining about the most is a problem with DMB and USB cover; the cover is too loose. Some of them just pop out after a couple of days.

  • Ive been waiting for this since june.

One thing that worries me is that a lot of people are complaining about SPINN malfunctioning.

well.. I don't care about DMB cuz I live in the states, but other malfunctions (according to other people)are bugging da hell outta me.

I don't know whether I should get this when I stop by at Korean airport or wait until it is released in America so that I can get it repaired in case it breaks down.

  • where'd you hear about those malfunctions? and what kind of malfunctions? if its software related then you can wait for the firmware updates.

plus, waiting another month or so wont hurt. if you get an american spinn, then you'll probably have an easier time getting it fixed.

  • The real hardware malfunction was DMB problem, and that was solved.

There is little issue of USB port cover which keeps falling off, if that's what you mean.

I'd recommend buying in the states. When something else malfunctions, fixing won't be so easy.

  • it's going to be a while... and Rain I've been waiting since January (CES 2008) and it seems all that wait was for nothing since it did not live up to its hype. SOOO disappointed iRiver. tsk tsk.

  • Even though it's not far off in thickness from ipod classic (which I never owned anyways), how much memory does the spinn have anyways.. 8 gig? for that much memory.. I don't justify the thickness. Even with all the goodies.

and I don't see how useful the drag and drop menu can be in this case as opposed to Samsung Haptic phone.

When the D3 hopefully comes out in August/September, could you perhaps do a video like this too? :p since it'll never come to North America, in store anyways..

  • Instead of drag and drop, you usually scroll for the menu. This action can be done instead of SPINN wheel, but I'd recommend using the wheel.

I don't know about D3... Cowon does not have direct store in Korea like iriver does. This video was taken using a demo unit in iriver direct store. Ultimately, I'm not that interested in Cowon as I do in iriver.

  • can u change the themes and/or the background?

would u recommend it over the iriver clix2?

  • From what I've read (and I've done a lot of reading on the spinn and other PMPs) it's not really comparable to the clix2 so to call it a clix 3.. I dunno.. it's in a new category.

I don't know if it'll support flash games or how you'll play it since it's no longer d-clix but now d-touch.. and it's much bigger than clix 2 and has a bigger screen, etc. Though I guess feature wise, they are pretty similar but then yet again, what good quality PMP isnt't?

  • the kind of touchscreen the spinn has is basically the same as the one on the nintendo ds and everyone knows how well their games came out

  • Well, DS uses a stylus, and this doesn't.

So, it may be harder to do precise control.

  • iriver says that Spinn actually is Clix 3. Spinn was started as Clix 3, then got some more changes. One evidence is that iriver's model number for Spinn is 'U30,' and U series is the Clix series. (Clix 2 was U20.)

Flash games are playable. iriver says that some Clix games are playable on Spinn, but it didn't specify which.

In Korea, Spinn would be called 'Mini PMP', as it's smaller than the real PMP, and users need to convert the video files.

  • You can change your background.

If you don't have Clix 2, I would.

If you do have it, still I would.

  • regarding the touch screen, you said its resistive so its a little harder to control right? but is there more touching as opposed to dragging and dropping?

i also heard that the spinn would have bluetooth. is that true? i cant read korean so i wouldnt know from the website heh

  • There is more scrolling rather than dragging and dropping, compared to W7.

It has bluetooth, although it does not support file transfers. It only can be connected to bluetooth earphones or speakers.

  • hm still thick..

SD card expansion slot not present right?

    is there haptic screen?

    D clix is there too?

    screen seems slow and unresponsive..

  • Well, to be honest i'm not a slim freak (like most of people at Apple), so that thin retains some grip and is still fine with me.

SD card expansion is gone, and it's haptic screen, and iriver replaced d-click with d-touch + spinn technology.

  • what does d-touch mean exactly? because I saw buttons on the screen.

SD card expansion slot gone... that's a big bummer.

As for slim, ya I could live without it but.. it's just more convenient.

How were the viewing angles and resolution?

  • yeah what is d-touch... i thought it was just another touchscreen

as for the slim-ness.. the ipod touch is 8mm thick while the spinn is 10.7mm thick. also ipod's classic is also 10.5mm thick so compared to ipod, the spinn isnt very far off.

and the spinn sports an active matrix OLED screen which means a better screen than an LCD. the screen doesnt fade or wash out when viewed at an angle like the old tube tv's. and as for resolution, its 480x272 if thats what youre asking

  • It's basically touch screen control + haptic feedback for portable media devices...

sometimes I hope touch was as thick as Spinn...

  • D-touch is the fancy way iriver said during CES. I figure it's touch screen UI + haptic feedback, since it's first for a mini PMP to have haptic feedback on the screen.

  • not for long though... Samsung next gen mp3 players will probably have this since their phone does.. the Cowon D3 is rumored to come out August and have this feature and I think the Archos Gen 6 is rumored to have haptic feedback too. Imagine in a couple of years when haptic feedback will make the screen feel like real physical pressable buttons. wow can't wait for that.

    So it's like 300$ for 8 gig?

Hm... think I'm going to wait for the Cowon D3 *cross fingers*

  • if you live in the US, the DMB feature will probably be taken out which will lower the cost.. but remember, the 16 gig will come out soon after the the first few batches of the spinn are produced.. so hopefully... $300 for the 16 gig?

but im with you on the D3. the spinn is awesome but the D2 wasnt that bad either

  • do you live in korea? cuz you'll be able to get your hands on them the soonest! IFA Berlin show Aug 29-sept 3. I cannot wait!!

  • wow thanks for the tip. finally i find some good info

but im thinking it will only be revealed on not put on the market... and then theres a chance of an even longer delay due to making an americanized version but iunno. we'll see what happens

  • Screen may seem even more unresponsive because I was holding the camera on one hand and was trying to control the device with the other hand. If you hold it with two hands, it works just fine.

  • hmm...the touch sensitivity seems a bit rough..

  • The touch screen is resistive, rather than capacitative in iPhone or iPod touch.

Resisitve has less precision than capacitative, and it's harder to control the screen with thumb than stylus. (due to simple pressure equation.

It's a bit rough, but it has vibration feedback, so that you can tell you've made the selection. And with the spinn wheel, it's great.
