I've dealt with this behavior from four different Jack Russell Terrier and with two to three months of training, you can get rid of it easily.

Cats are always pack leaders because they are solitary and need to lead themselves if they were in the wild. That is why independent dogs like livestock guardian breeds are very dominant.

This is among the stupidest things he has done and there is a lot to choose from. Cornering, kicking and chasing a fearful dog is among the 3 worse things you could do.
The best dog training book is "Loved Dog" by Tamar Geller. She is even better than Cesar Milan. Because she has studied wolves in the wild and knows the dog's and wolves' language. He is good, too, but he uses a lot of force. She uses reward as the means of communicating. It works 100%.

When Cesar claims it, there is nothing left for the dog to do then to realize that his behavior is not tolerable and must calm down and quit the behavior. Cesar owned that dog.
The dog has formed a neurosis around that chair. The chair is the only place the dog feels safe. He's dependant on it for comfort and whenever anyone comes near it, or tries to sit on it, he attacks them. Ceasar is trying to get the dog into a receptive/submissive state, but he's having a hard time because the dog is so disturbed.

The best dog training book is "Loved Dog" by Tamar Geller. She is even better than Cesar Milan. Because she has studied wolves in the wild and knows the dog's and wolves' language. He is good, too, but he uses a lot of force. She uses reward as the means of communicating. It works 100%.

Dogs are not wolves though. You can't think of them as such. Their body language may be the same or similar but they are not wolves. Wolves are wild animals. Dogs have been selectively bred. Two different beings.

Seriously? It's simple, the dog is afraid of interaction, and he starts taking out his frustration out on the chair and hiding under it. When Cesar claims it, there is nothing left for the dog to do then to realize that his behavior is not tolerable and must calm down and quit the behavior. Cesar owned that dog.

The dog has formed a neurosis around that chair. The chair is the only place the dog feels safe. He's dependant on it for comfort and whenever anyone comes near it, or tries to sit on it, he attacks them. Ceasar is trying to get the dog into a receptive/submissive state, but he's having a hard time because the dog is so disturbed.
