To be more precise... Dorians were of the Macedonian tribe... in fact Macedonians and Epirots and Aetolians formed one branch (the northwestern branch). Some of them tribes descended to the south and became later the Dorians.

But they were NEVER interested to ask Alexander I, Philip II, Alexander II or any of the rest of the Macedonians EVER. Ancient Macedonians were proud Greeks and that is why they took part in the Olympic games, the Pythians and the Amfiktyonies that were ONLY for GREEKS.
