Alright there! Av You considered - H Be Gone (just google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my m8 after many years eradicated pretty bad hemorrhoids with it.
Why don't they use small explosive charges to loosen and drive the coal into the feeder holes? Seems to me to be cheaper than dozers and risking folks' lives...
@tlfrantz1 On top of that, coal dust can form explosive mixtures with air (a fuel-air explosive), so your small detonation to loosen the pile can make the whole plant go up.
why dont they just get one of cats biggest excavator like a 385 with a long reach arm and clear them out then? Sounds like they just need the dozer to push on the ground no where near the feeders..
seems like the glass is a band-aid. if a hopper is clogged why not use a 345 or 365 to clear it? perhaps a long stick on a 345 could clear the hoppers from a safe distance. even a 330 with a long stick would be better than a dozer going over a potential "sink hole".
a self rescuer is a portable breathing device when oxygen levels are depleted..once the seal on a self rescuer is broken chemicals inside the device react to give you oxygen. Self rescuers are normally found in underground mines and every person carries one with them. It is only a limited amount of air however. Hope this helps.
forgot to say this...when you put the device on (you strap it to your head like a mask) the chemical reaction can get so hot that it will give you blisters on your mouth but this is normal and under no circumstance do you take it off.
