  • Now that is what you call blues! Loved every second of it man!

  • i have a dot playing thru a blues driver and blues jr. how can i get your tone?

  • @brandedification Crank the TREBLE, leave the BASS around 10 and crank the MASTER. Play loud. Good overdrive tone at low volume is rare unless you have a VERY good attenuator. Pretend the master volume is not even there. Turn your volume up to about 5 and control the overdrive with your guitar's volume. The Blues Driver can be used for more sustain and creamyness, but you will sacrifice dynamics. Turn the tone to about 10 o'clock and gain way way down. Good luck!

  • great tone

  • Very nice but having quality audio is key!

  • You played the sh*t out of that guitar! I love it :)

  • like ur style. but it looked like it was in A# though. Doesn't really matter, it's all sassy blues to me :) good stuff

  • @TheArtfulDodger0402 Ahhh! Looks can be deceiving! My guitar was tuned down half a step. Thanks for the comment!

  • @eythan07 I was trying to play along and I thought you were in a different tuning, then noticed you were playing the scales just a step up, so I figured it was tuned down. Just wondering, why do you tune your guitar down a half step. That was a great solo and tone. Trying to learn blues through other videos, but this makes it a little harder. Just wondering

  • @tstewart01 Two reasons: If you ever listen to SRV, he tunes down half a step to Eb. Also, when you have heavier gauge strings on (I had 11s in this video) it makes it a tad easier to bend. The guitar will sound different too. More slap and pop to each note played because the strings are more loose. If you want to learn from some videos, you are welcome to check out my more recent videos where I'm playing with my telecaster and I'm tuned to standard.

  • the guitar schows b.b.kings guitar :D

  • Sounded great. Going home to try to copy some of those licks. Thanks

  • i love that backing track too xD

  • duuuude, love the wah wah towards the end. great stuff from start to finish.

  • Nice chops!

  • @creekster52 Thanks!

  • nice job check my chan too

  • Great playin', man. Chilling grips and slides.

  • Awesome jam! Where'd you get the backing track?

  • This is by FAR the best tone I've heard from an Epi Dot and BJ combination. I've had two Dots and two Blues Jr. amps and NEVER got a tone with as much clarity as you've got going. Is that the stock speaker ? I'm guessing the Gibby pups added a great deal to the clarity as the Billm mod ? Nice job on the playing too...very sweet, love that "pop", presence in the tone.

  • Thanks for the comments. This is the stock Eminence made speaker in it. A big part of the Billm mods will allow for more clarity. If your controls are all set at 6 you get a scooped midrange and a boosted bass. Since this video I have added a presence control which allows me to set the tone controls how I like and just adjust presence depending on if I'm using single coils of humbuckers. On top of that I figured out a way to add a dwell control for the reverb. They're all great mods.

  • You ROCK'D the heck out of that one dude! Can you do some SRV?

  • Thanks. I listen to SRV a lot, so you could say that he is a pretty big influence on my playing. I little while ago I did a version of "The Sky is Crying" to test out an old '67 Ampeg Gemini. If you want I'll see if I can post it. Lots of SRV kinda stuff in there!

  • I really like wah-wah! hah! gota buy that one day!

By the way please subscribe me!^^

  • Nice blues! keep it up!

  • Thank you for making feel good.

  • you have some nice albert king size bends in there

  • Yeah, the tone mod is the one I had in mind, also. I don't want to mess with the bias- I think that contributes a lot of the tone!! Now I just need to learn to do the mods- I have no experience with soldering nor using a millimeter!!lol

  • Nice playing! Could you tell a big difference in the Blues Jr after the Billm mod? Was it worth it?

  • Thanks, yeah the difference was huge (remember, this is just the twin mod). All I had to do was solder a wire connecting the two eyelets on the midrange pot and it made the amp way more useful. Now it makes it possible to turn the mids off completely so you can put a scoop in your EQ. It really makes the amp sound a lot bigger too, more soul.

  • Also since you can totally turn the mids off, you can turn the gain up and use the tone stack controls as individual volume knobs controlling only a certain frequency. This means you can actually keep the master up (making the sound less muddy and more poppy) and also turn the gain up to give you a nice bedroom volume level without totally screwing up the tone. Anyway, I'm rambling. There are a ton of possibilities with this mod. I think I'm going to try the tone stack next.
